Yaymicro / Batch Model Release, Submit All, and Pagination
« on: June 01, 2011, 04:08 »
Hi!

Finally we've added some new features for you photogs! The most important one is a batch model release. This makes it very easy to add model releases to several photos, also if you have several models. Log in, and go to our test server to take a look:http://dtest.yaymicro.com/describe.action?batchRelease] http://dtest.yaymicro.com/describe.action?batchRelease

(If you don't have any images and releases, take a look at the picture of it: https://www.facebook.com/join.yaymicro )

We also added a Submit all-button, and pagination. Small features, but it makes life a little bit easier!

If you have any feedback, comments, suggestions - let us know! We are making this for you, so it's important that it's what you want and need.

Cheers,

Linda

Yaymicro / API and newsletter
« on: March 15, 2011, 08:33 »
Hi!

We are going live with our API this week. I'm working on a newsletter with detailed information, but wanted to notify you in here as well. We'll provide you details of our payment, your share, what third party it is, and options for opting out. Hopefully we'll have the newsletter ready by tomorrow.

Is there any specific information we should include? And if you have any other general subjects you would like us to cover in this, or another, newsletter - please let me know. You can respond to this post, or e-mail me at [email protected]

Have a beautiful day!

Linda :)

Yaymicro / What's happening at YAY - and question about API
« on: January 20, 2011, 09:25 »
Hi everybody, and Happy New Year!

First I would like to apologize for a long time without any regular updates. Luckily, the reason for this is that we're busy working on getting the sales up at YAY! We're still small compared to the big sites, but we're getting there!  ;D

The last couple of months we've been working on our affiliate program (read more here: http://yaymicro.com/affiliate), SEO,  R&D on our search,  and developing an API. Were also in the process of adding  a new partner to our third-party program. (Read more about third party and how to apply: http://yaymicro.com/view.action?page=third-party-sales-program).

Soon our API is ready for use and that's what I'd like to get some feedback on. We've seen a need for more transparency in our industry, and my impression is that people feel they lack control of their property: their images.  Traditionally, in the image industry there's been common practice to share images between agencies, often involving many agencies (resulting small royalties to the photographers many earning less than a microstock-photographer on some images, but they try to keep this a secret  ;) ). With international sites, this sharing gets even more complicated, and it's easy to feel a lack of control for a photographer, and for the image agencies as well.

We've decided to list all our partners for the API, and give you an option to Opt-out from the ones you don't want to use. You'll also get details on the commission for YAY, along with the percentage of commission provided to you. Our goal is that you'll make at least as much on an API-sale as you would if the image was sold at YAY, but the amount will vary depending on the different agreements.

I'm wondering if there is any information or other aspects of an API that are important issues for photographers that we haven't considered?

Thanks,

Linda :)

General Stock Discussion / Extended Licenses on Subs at iStock?
« on: August 29, 2010, 11:49 »
We've been contacted buy a potential client, and he claims they can buy EL at iStock for less than a dollar, -if they maximize the subscription plan they have.

I find it hard to believe that iStock would sell their EL for so little money, and unable to find any information to support this claim I'm wondering: Do any of you know the price for EL when you buy them in bulk/subscribe, for use on a print-on-demand site? All I can find is that EL don't grant you the right to use images on print-on-demand sites, making this even more odd. I do suspect the client is using the wrong license from iStock.

There is no way we'll reduce our EL price to a dollar, but it would be interesting to know how low other agencies are willing to go on these licenses.

Do you have any experience with price and commission on EL?

Thanks,

Linda  (from yaymicro.com)

(Yes, we're a competitor to iStock, but I hope this don't exclude us from discussing prices & licenses. If you feel we shouldn't discuss this here, we'll refrain from it in the future).

Yaymicro / Image Rejections at YAY
« on: August 27, 2010, 07:39 »
Hi there!

We've just written a blog post about image rejections. You can read the blog post here: http://blog.yaymicro.com/2010/08/27/help-i-got-an-image-rejected/

We're always looking for ways of improvement, so if any of you have feedback to our team of approvers we'd really appreciate it! I'll make sure their supervisor reads this thread, as well as any e-mails you might send about the review process.

We've also made smaller updates to our list of rejection/explanations, you'll find it here:

Cheers,

Linda  :)

Yaymicro / Closed Forum
« on: August 21, 2010, 18:07 »
Hi!

As some of you might have noticed we had to close our forum this week, due to spam bots. We havent decided yet if well aim for other channels of communication, such as this one, or if well try to improve the forum security technology. If you have any YAY related questions you can post them here at MSG, and well do our best to answer. Questions should be of general interest, not account specific.

Specific and/or important matters should be e-mailed us directly at [email protected] You can also e-mail us individually (linda@, jan@, bjorn@ etc.), but it might take longer time to get an answer. Well make sure to update our blog (http://blog.yaymicro.com) and twitter-account (http://twitter.com/yaymicro) regularly.

I wish you all a great weekend!  :D

Cheers, Linda (from Yaymicro.com)
