Adobe Stock / 1099-Misc....Why?
« on: February 03, 2014, 18:12 »
I just received a 1099-Misc in the mail from Fotolia for a minuscule amount, which I earned, but have yet to receive. Can they do that? Hold your monies hostage, collect interest, claim its yours to Uncle Sam, but yet - "you" (me) can't touch it?  :o

Newbie Discussion / Newbies and Symbiostock
« on: April 08, 2013, 11:02 »
Just putting out a quick check for newbies setting up their own sites with the new Symbiostock?
Most of the "big boys" have found their inner circles - I'm just trying to find my own inner circle with those who sport small ports, but are serious about growing. ;)

I thought this might be the right spot for this thread.

I'm looking for suggestions on image sizes in relation to bloggy, small, medium and large. I know large is the original upload size. Any suggestions on appropriate sizing for smaller scale? AND, am I required to size and upload the photos to fit the scale or does Symbiostock take care of those details?

Thanks in advance....  :D

Shutterstock.com / Shutterstock editorials require press pass?
« on: February 26, 2013, 11:43 »
Could someone please, please, please explain to me why Shutterstock would require press pass or venue permission to shoot editorial horse racing images? Am I missing something here?

I submitted my 10 images for round 3 of potential acceptance. Several of these images were editorial that had actually been accepted in the previous attempt. THIS time, I get an email asking if I had venue permission or press pass for that event.

Although, in the past I have obtained press passes if the situation did not allow for unobstructed lens view - in this case, I did not. Regardless, I am confused as to why they would do this on editorial. I'm losing my mind!  :o

I have recently been putting together a story board / tree of "who is partners with who" to use in decisions regarding how many times I want to step on my own toes.  ::)

I noticed in the forum threads that DP was listed as an OptIn/OptOut site.
When I signed up, I most likely opted out until I had a better understanding of the program. Now I beginning to make adjustments and I can not find the option ANYWHERE on DP's site.

I already wrote support, but their answer was not at all related to what I asked.

I asked:

Hello,

I am of the understanding you can freely opt-in or opt-out on the partner program, but a) I do not remember what I initially signed up for and b) I can not find this option anywhere on my contributor dashboard to clarify or change.

Help! :)

Thank you,

They answered:

Hello,

The Partner program has been disabled for your account. It was activated by default.

Should you have any further questions or require any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards,

I have since responded back for clarification, but no response.
I feel like such and idiot here - am I missing something in the reply?

General Photography Discussion / Opt in? Opt out?
« on: January 20, 2013, 16:57 »
I love this place!

Now that my emotions are in check, "LOL" I feel I would love to request some feedback.
I selected "opt out" on all of my accounts for API except Fotolia, which doesn't offer that option.

However, I do use Alamy for what I consider my exclusive RM's even though I do not list them as exclusive and I did Opt in on YaY to Alamy for my RF. These are the ONLY 2 I have connected in any way.

Am I stabbing my own self in the $$$ foot by opting out? Lets face it - we're all in this for the income, be it part-time or full-time.

Your thoughts?

Adobe Stock / Fotolia partnered with AP Images?
« on: January 19, 2013, 12:21 »
I was doing some opting-opt double checks on partner programs and stumbled across this page:
http://www.apimages.com/MicrostockRFabout.aspx

Is this new? Or am I running WAY behind here?

Newbie Discussion / I'm a (sorta) NEWBIE on a mission. :)
« on: January 02, 2013, 14:49 »
Greetings all! Its a new year and I have new ambitions...or rather - old ambitions, with fresh motivation!
I opened my first stock account with DT 3 years ago. Followed by Fotolia and BigStock. I lost motivation early on due to my limited understanding of how microstock works and the selective process of iStock and Shutterstock. I am still knocking on their door, but I won't give up!

I have recently added 4 more stock ports, with 123rf being my largest.
