Im arguing with a guy at Mp about upsizing. He says Canon has a software that makes it possible to upsize a RAW photo almost unlimited without visible degradation.

I want that software for nikon as well ;)

Do anyone know what he may be talking about?

Dreamstime.com / Planning on going exclusive at Dt
« on: July 12, 2010, 04:32 »
Not!

I read a blog today at Dt "  What do you like most about DREAMSTIME? ".  People are saluting this site, and many seems to be exclusive.

Nothing against Dt at all exept lack of sales,  but what I read in the blog is beyond my understanding.   Exclusive at Dt????

Can anyone please shed some light on this mystery?   Id cut my earnings 20 times if I dropped the rest ???

Off Topic / Computer stress test
« on: July 09, 2010, 08:19 »
The picture below has 2 identical dolphins in it. It was used in a case study on stress levels at St. Mary's Hospital..

Look at both dolphins jumping out of the water. The dolphins are identical. A closely monitored, scientific study revealed that, in spite of the fact that the dolphins are identical; a person under stress would find differences in the two dolphins. The more differences a person finds between the dolphins, the more stress that person is experiencing.

Look at the photograph and if you find more than one or two differences you may want to take a vacation.

iStockPhoto.com / Contacted by an Istock customer. Price...
« on: June 24, 2010, 11:28 »
I just got a call from a nice lady who wanted to buy a photo of mine from Istock. My bestseller!!  Its available as Rf and Extended but she told me they advised her to contact me directly.

I told her to email all the details how she will use it and so on, so I could think about it.  waiting for it rigth now..

Its been sold 900 times already, so I doubt she wanna buy the full rights for all times....

Could there be any point in buying it as Rm when its on the micros as extended.

Any advice is welcomed:)

Ill let you know what she says in the email later on...

Dreamstime.com / Keymaster program - Keywordspam?
« on: March 25, 2010, 09:43 »
I decided to try Dts keymasterprogram a few weeks ago. I checked it up today and  was surprised.  A 3d render of a megaphone with a cord and microphone.

Keywords are:
3d, abstract, art, artistic, artistry, artwork, background, blue, button, design, designing, device, graphic, illustrated, illustration, instrument, loud, lodspeaker, mic pattern, speaker, wire

Half of them are questionable but the rest is a joke ???

And they cannot be edited by me until reviewed by Dts editors ??  Strange that its approved and up for sale before that?

Dreamstime.com / Backdoor to review queue
« on: March 24, 2010, 08:40 »
In a queue of 10 images with 114h reviewtime there is one in the middle with "Image under review".  Thats weird !!

And no exclusive box was ticked by mistake...

iStockPhoto.com / Rejected files kept in system?
« on: March 20, 2010, 02:10 »
I was going through my rejections at Istock when I came to think about all rejected
files they keep in case of reconsideration by scout.  How long they keep them for?

There must be milions of images stored just in case. Seems stupid or am I missing something?

Crestock.com / Bad search-function at Crestock
« on: August 26, 2009, 15:04 »
I used to have an image selling every day there til a few months ago, when the .25 selling madness all of a sudden stopped ???

I tried searching for "lonely tree" and got 20 results.  (13000 at SS)

I typed a three word search and got 0 results.

No wonder the downloads stopped :-[

General - Top Sites / Mo money
« on: August 05, 2009, 14:17 »
What if all sites agrees to rise their prices to double or tripple amount at the same time. More money to everyone, (except buyers...)  But its still super cheap.   Do you think a buyer care if the image he wants cost 1$ or 3$.

Sub sites could give a way 250 images/month instead of 750

This would probably just start another price war back to zero,  but if we dont feed the ones that go below it should be ok.

What would happen???

Cameras / Lenses / Strap crap !
« on: August 01, 2009, 12:16 »
Hey there!

My strap gave up today, resulting in my Nikkor 80-200 2.8 ED hit the asphalt lens first, pushed by an D300 with batterypack.  Pretty hard...

Im glad I had a heavy UV filter on.  But would have been even happier if the sun-cap had been on.

I cleaned off the broken glass and tried unscrewing the filter, without success cause the lens was squeezed slightly oval :-\
It seemed to work though for awhile, till I tried a closeup zoom where it jammed >:(.   I used it manually for a few hours and tried the AF again.    IT WORKED!!, the whole way :D     Thats quality...

And check your old strap.    I had a neoprene one with small fake leather pieces that just gave up.  I could easily rip the ok looking side off when I tried.   Dont use fake materials .  And do a pressure test now and then...

123RF / Just weird...
« on: June 08, 2009, 11:35 »
Search-engine like SS and customerbase like Crestock ???   They were dead for a long time til I uploaded about 100 images. Got a few sales, and now theyre dead again.      Dont tell me I have to upload constantly there...

Have you heard it before, and checked out their portfolio?  To find out its filled with out of focus noisy snapshots.

Did they get away with that earlier??  Or is it just bullshi...?    ( you better clean out your port before answering ;))

General Photography Discussion / Importance of Tripod
« on: April 15, 2009, 06:04 »
I hear again and again how important it is to use a tripod and cablerelease.  Ofcourse when youre using slower shutters.  But  lets say I shoot a landscape with a wideangle in full daylight ( it happens :) ) and use S 800/f6.4 for example.  The dof is biiig.  and how much can I shake during that short amount of time?

Teach me please?
