Searching for my images in use today I stumbled across the following:

fineartamerica.com/featured/view-from-marshalls-beach-on-the-golden-dirkr.html?product=canvas-print

Scroll down on the page, there it says:

Anybody heard of that before? What kind of license do they sell for that?

123RF / Strange subscription royalty on 123RF
« on: November 05, 2014, 16:58 »
Just had a subscription download and the amount shown on the "downloads" page is $0,348.
This amount is not even on their commission structure table (see here), so it's not a simple mistake of taking the wrong contributor level.

(The glitch that showed an unrealistic high amount of credits for a while is fixed, at least on my earnings page a realistic amount is shown; this would not have been an explaination anyway, as the amount received is not one to be expected for any level...)

iStockPhoto.com / Another case of faux-exclusivity?
« on: September 30, 2014, 04:36 »
Or another case of big scale theft?

Exclusive Istock contributor:

Portfolio on 123RF:

Interesting name of the Istock contributor, no idea if this is really related to the German agency Westend 61 or if somebody just chose that name.

I came across that example on a German stock forum, thought it might be worth a post here.

DepositPhotos / Changes to DP's subscription royalties?
« on: September 18, 2014, 15:57 »
Just sold a file via subscription and received $0,44 for it. Yesterday I sold one and received $0.30 (as always before).
I couldn't find any announcement on their site and their royalty schedule still shows fixed amounts per subscription sale (from $0.30 to $0.35 depending on your level).

Anyone else seen something similar?

Shutterstock.com / Price increase on Shutterstock?
« on: September 18, 2014, 02:10 »
Three days ago I posted the current on-demand prices as seen on the Shutterstock website in this thread.

They were:

All sizes and vectors:
5 for €39 (€7.80 per image) or 25 for €179 (€7.16 per image)
and:
Small and medium JPEGs:
12 for €39 (€3.25 per image) or 60 for €179 (€2,98 per image)

Today I see on the same part of the Shutterstock website:

All sizes and vectors:
5 for €43 (€8.60 per image) or 25 for €199 (€7.96 per image)
and:
Small and medium JPEGs:
12 for €43 (€3.58 per image) or 60 for €199 (€3.32 per image)

The only difference: The first one three days ago was from my computer at home, now I am at my workplace. It's a different ISP (I am not sure if they are sitting in Germany, so it may look to the Shutterstock site that I am located elsewhere - at home the German version of the website is automatically loaded, here the English version; but at both places Euro prices are shown).

Any idea?
Has there really been a price increase or does Shutterstock show different prices for different countries?

Veer / Accepted files disappearing from Veer?
« on: April 17, 2013, 13:47 »
I've had a total of 1070 files accepted at Veer.
Last time I uploaded was in Oct 12.
Today when I looked in the dashboard it only shows 881 accepted. The number of rejected files did not change (78), so no real explanation.

Another strange thing: When I list the accepted files according to date it shows a number of old files (on the site since 2009 or 2010) with a date of 2012-03-24 - as said above, I did not upload anything this year to Veer...

Anybody seeing something similar? Is this just a bug or have they removed around 200 files without notifying me?

Adobe Stock / New Fotolia subscription plans?
« on: February 27, 2013, 10:19 »
Accidently I just saw that you can buy subscriptions with monthly (not daily!) download limits at Fotolia (see here).

The smallest plan is for 5 images, one month for 20 Euros.

And as far as I can see, we will be paid standard subscription rates...

Is this new? Has this always been there? Looks like this presents a very strong incentive for Fotolia to push buyers into these plans, as this will radically lower the amount of money they have to pay us... >:(

AFAIK Shutterstock always used to upsize images that were submitted in smaller sizes. And if I recall correctly, there was no way to see for a buyer if the size he was going to buy was an original size or an upsized one.
Today when I looked on the buyer page of some of my images, the largest size displayed is the original size I submitted. And an additional line below that asking "Need a larger image?". When you click on that, it shows a new size ("Super") with a button with "generate" on where the download button is for the other sizes. Plus they add the explanation that this size is upsized ("Super images are generated from Large images and may take a few moments to download.")

This only happens with "small" images, so my old 8 MP images do show this functionality, my new 16 MP ones not. No idea where the limit is.

Does this translate into downsizing to improve sharpness may turn into a disadvantage?
Any opinions?

StockXpert.com / PPD via JIUnlimited?
« on: July 28, 2009, 04:38 »
Anybody ever had that before?

Today I had a PPD from JIU - 30$  ;D

Not that I want to complain, but I thought JUI would only sell subs? It was marked as "Jupiterimages pay-per-download" of size SUPER. Maybe an EL?

Shutterstock.com / Shutterstock Tax center live
« on: July 20, 2009, 11:00 »
Just noticed that Shutterstock has the anounced tax center online now.

And to my relief: As an individual from a treaty country it is just an online form, no paperwork, no tax number needed.

Software - General / Looking for an IPTC Batch Update Tool
« on: May 06, 2009, 16:25 »
What I need:

A tool that allows me to copy content from one IPTC field into another one for a huge number of files.

Reason for that is the upload process of Featurepics. I just started with them (thought I give them a try, after all they pay 70% commission and should be supported if only for that!) and uploaded a view files to see how the upload works.
And I found that they expect the image title in a different field than I have it in. As this prevents me from using their bulk submit tool, I would have to either submit every file with several mouseclicks on their site or copy the image title into the right field manually before uploading.
As I am talking about more than 800 files, I'd love to have a tool that allows me to do that update in one batch.

Anyone knows something like this?

Thanks for your ideas!

Bigstock.com / Bigstock questions
« on: March 31, 2009, 12:22 »
Hi,

I just started with Bigstock (found time to add another agency) and have two questions I could not easily find an answer to:
1: Is there any way to see the number of views (other than clicking on the image)?
2: If an image is rejected, do they have a process to re-submit (after correcting what was wrong obviously)? Comparable to DT and IS? Or do you just correct and re-submit (is there a way to leave a note to the reviewer)?

Thanks for any help,
Dirk

Adobe Stock / Fotolia changes Credit price in Europe
« on: December 01, 2008, 10:35 »
... to 1 € per credit (was 0,83 € before).
That is an increase of roughly 20%.
It was about time that there are some good news from FT after the recent changes (subs, ranking...).

Thanks for that nice christmas present  ;D

Don't know about any changes for other currencies though...

Shutterstock.com / I'm in !!!
« on: October 19, 2008, 11:10 »
Made it. On my first try, 8 of 10 accepted  ;D

Now how long does it take until the files can be found on the site? Doesn't seem to be instantaneous?
