CanStockPhoto.com / Review times indicator way off?
« on: October 01, 2011, 05:55 »
Hi everyone,

I was wondering, is it just me, or is the review times indicator on CanStock's homepage way off?  For instance, I uploaded some files last night and, at the time, it said review time was about 4 minutes.  Currently, it says 33 minutes.  The batch I uploaded last night (about 16 hours ago) is still in the pending queue.  I have similar experiences with other batches.

I am not really complaining about the review times as such, since CanStock is usually still fast compared to other sites.  It's just that, when a site makes a big deal about displaying current review times, it is pretty annoying when they do not appear to make sense.  If you it's not possible to predict review times reliably (or at least within a small margin), then I think it would be better to not show anything at all.  If you can't deliver what you are promising, so to speak, it gets to be a little frustrating.

Anyway, just curious if I am the only one experiencing this and, if not, how other people feel about this.  In general, I like CanStock and I would like to see it do well.  So this bugs me a bit...

iStockPhoto.com / IS Upload Problems
« on: May 10, 2011, 16:59 »
Hi everyone,

Just checking: am I the only one who is experiencing upload problems at IS?  I just tried to upload an illustration.  The upload process starts as usual.  However, at the point where you normally get to see the screen on which to indicate that you are the copyright owner, etc. I see nothing.  When I go to Upload again, I can see the file sitting there, unfinished.  When I try to edit it, I get an HTTP 500 Internal Server error, which normally means something went wrong on the server.

I tried one more time.  Now both (duplicate) files are sitting there, waiting to be edited.  But I can't proceed.

I hope this will be fixed soon so I can submit my file.  I will have to figure out a way to delete the duplicate, but I think there is an option for that on the edit page

Dreamstime.com / Dreamstime uploads down?
« on: January 10, 2010, 12:20 »
Hi everyone,

I am trying to upload some new files to Dreamstime.  I can log in, but when I try to use my FTP program or the site's own upload functionality, I am unable to get a connection to their upload server.  Is it just me, or is their upload functionality down at the moment?

Veer / Approved images missing on dashboard page
« on: June 26, 2009, 14:47 »
Hi,

I just noticed that my approved images are not displayed on the dashboard page.  All images are listed, with their descriptions, keyswords and everything.  But the images themselvers are displayed as those wellknown red crosses you see when an image cannot be found.  Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

StockXpert.com / StockXpert Longer Review Times?
« on: October 07, 2008, 15:01 »
Hi everyone,

Am I the only person who is experiencing longer review times on StockXpert?  The past couple of weeks, I have gotton used to StockXpert reviewing files within a day, sometimes even within an hour or so.  I uploaded some files Saterday night (Oct. 4th) and they have not yet been reviewed (Oct 7th, about 72 hours after uploading).  Have others seen this too?

Of course this is not a complaint, because most microstock agencies take much longer than this.  It's just that I have gotten so used to the extremely fast review times that this makes me wonder if something went wrong with my files.  I do see them and they have a status of "pending", so it seems to be okay?

Off Topic / JoeyL Tutorials
« on: October 06, 2008, 02:19 »
Hey everyone,

Has anyone here bought the JoeyL tutorials available at http://tutorial.joeyl.com/ ?

I really like his work and the tutorials appear to cover some of the things I would love to be able to do with some of my photos.  They are probably less suitable for stock, which is why I decided to post this in the Off Topic forum.  Anyway, since the tutorials are quite expensive, I was hoping someone could tell me if they felt they are really worth the money?

Cutcaster / Cutcaster prices and which images
« on: September 17, 2008, 05:46 »
Hi everyone,

I decided to join Cutcaster today, but I'm not sure which files to upload and what prices to set...  Are you guys uploading the same photos you are uploading to other agencies, or are you uploading differen photos?  The reason I'm asking is that CutCaster's pricing model, where you set your own prices, is different.  If I were to upload the same photos I submitted to agencies like IStockPhoto, Shutterstock, Dreamstime, Stocxpert, etc. what would be a fair price?

I hope you can give me some advice on this...  This is all still pretty new to me.  Thanks in advance.

iStockPhoto.com / Illustrations as JPGs on IStock
« on: August 26, 2008, 04:27 »
Hi everyone,

I'm still pretty new to this whole microstock thing and am in the process of building my portfolio, which includes both photos and illustrations.  I have a question regarding illustrations on IStock.  It looks like they are not looking for more illustrators with my kind of style.  My first two attempts of getting in as an illustrator were rejected.  And when I look at the list of the kind of illustrations they ARE looking for, it's just not really my kind of thing.  On the other hand, the kind of illustrations I DO create, seem to sell fairly well on IStock and other sites.

Does anyone know if IStock might accept JPEG versions of my illustrations, or would it just be a waste of time trying to upload them?  I am planning on seeing if I can do the kinds of illustrations they are looking for as well, but I am not yet convinced that that will ever really work for me.  If I could upload JPEG versions of my illustrations that are selling well on other sites, maybe I can at least make a little money with those on IStock as well.

I hope someone can shed a little more light on this.  Either I looked in the wrong places, or there is not much information to be found about this on the IStock site itself.  Thanks in advance for any help / advice you might have to offer.

Regards,
Inge
