Alamy.com / Alamy Accept Ai Images?
« on: March 26, 2024, 14:28 »
I had about 60 Ai images accepted "passed QC" then I began to edit the images for "discovery". The next day they're all "deleted". Now I read somewhere they do accept AI, then I read they then don't. Im confused, do they or don't they? Ive been dabbling with MS for over ten years so Im not up on everything. Hopefully someone can help

Been only dabbling with MS for 10 years but would like to amp it up.
I'm with Top, and Middle Tier agencies on the right.---->
But how many photos and/or illos are needed to yield about $300 a month with all agencies combined? Thanks

What aspect ratio do you use when creating illustrations? Now I assume landscape format is more popular than portrait orientation...?
For instance; is this image too wide?

I just started illustration and would like to know the aspect ratio is most commonly needed. Thanks

iStockPhoto.com / Confused by the 2 Merge
« on: September 06, 2018, 09:53 »
I dabbled in MS since 2008 and haven't really been vigilant to the changes in the industry since then, but Im taking a more serious approach to getting into MS to make some money.
My question is I am totally confused by the Getty, iStock relationship (and ESP- whatever that is). Who do I submit new content too and does it appear on both sites, one or do I have to submit to both and where does ESP come in? I get multiple log in screens that seem to do nothing and just send me in circles.
I am so lost with this merge. (yes I had a istock account originally, but not a Getty)

iStockPhoto.com / So what happened to my istock portfolio?
« on: June 25, 2018, 14:03 »
I haven't looked at istock in a log time.
I see they merged with Getty and my portfolio is gone, yet I seem to have a "account" which is just a shell. Do I have to reapply?

DT says my DRAWING illustration of Santa Claus needs a subject release... Really?
Are they kidding me?? Or maybe (even worse) they want a property release of his North Pole house in the drawing...  :o

I resubmitted with to editor comment:
"Santa Claus is a fictional character in public domain. Also I don't think I need a property release for his fictional north pole residence either... lol"

This made my day.  :)

Yep.
Canstock Photo.
Now I joined in Sept of 2009 and I just now hit payout of $50! To be fair, I only have 74 photos and only 2 do well, the rest; eh. At first in 2009 I thought this would be a nice second income stream, but quickly I discovered it was pushing a boulder up a mountain.

Its just kinda cool to hit the $50 milestone FINALLY. I'm dabbling with adding my photos but mainly illustrations to the agencies. But I must watch my pennies in cost outlay as it will take years to get the return, if ever.

Just wanted to share, not a complaint.  :)
Steve

PS- (I have hit a couple $100 payouts on DT and SS)

General Stock Discussion / Question about release for artwork
« on: October 12, 2016, 11:31 »
I'm an artist and I started submitting some simple artwork in b&w line work. (Hand drawn and inked with real ink, brush on paper.)
here's a sample:
https://www.dreamstime.com/stock-photography-image78444129#res1454312

The problem is, some MS sites are asking for a property release. Property releases I see don't seem to apply to my situation; I am artist/creator of the art I'm offering. The property release forms I see are between buildings etc and photographers.

Anyone have advice or a form hat suits my needs? I can't be the only one doing this?

Newbie Discussion / How much time do you spend...?
« on: October 24, 2009, 13:34 »
How much time do you spend... fixing rejected images?
Do you fix each rejected image or do you move on? Would you have different versions then, each to liking of each agency?  :o

Also initially how much time do you devote to post production processing (excluding keywording?) ?  :P

General Stock Discussion / Skin issue
« on: October 20, 2009, 13:11 »
I'm 3 months new to MS photography.

Mostly my pics contain people (OK, women) and a good amount of skin is shown. Large amount of shots in shorts, swimwear, tank tops etc...
The problem is when I smooth the skin for that (near) perfect skin complexion, my images get rejected for out of focus or blurry. To be clear; I make sure I dont over-filter. I use just enough to make it look pleasing to the eye. Some agencies allow you to write a note to the reviewer (which I just started doing) but the biggest rejector; BigStock doesnt.

Any ideas?

I use "Portraiture" Plug-in w/CS4 (mac) as recommended by someone on DT.

General Stock Discussion / DT has this happened to you...?
« on: October 14, 2009, 18:39 »
A DT image was rejected for Lack of Comp. When I got the rejection email, I responded to support; "Where would you like it?"
The next day I found the image in my "Online Files". I was  :o

Thats the second time that happened. So I question every rejection now... ::)

StockXpert.com / Stockxpert confusion
« on: October 14, 2009, 14:31 »
Im confused about Stockxpert. I uploaded about 40 quality pics that were already accepted and making $ on DT. All but 4 were rejected. Im new to Stockxpert and MS in general.
It seems possibly some images were submitted w/o me even "finishing them" for submission.
I click on there bouncing mail icon above and see emails that just read:
"Date   Sep 22, 2009 3:56 PM
From    system
To   illstudio
Subject   From the approval crew"
No message! :-\ I have 36 of these. No emails were sent to my email address. I see I made 30cents but cant find out what sold!

I the site that clumsy in design or am I missing something...? ???

This maybe be off the wall but I want to make a composite photo piece and I need a photo of a portion of the Statute of Liberty. Is there a public-domain or whatever stockpile I can use and is it it ok to use it as part of my image?
The Statute will only be a PART of the final image...
Any help of this idea? :-\

Also I always see images in stock of the planet earth... I doubt people are making these themselves... Where do these come from?  ???

Newbie Discussion / Color Space question
« on: October 07, 2009, 15:59 »
Im 3 months new to this so...

Ive been working in CS4 (Tiff/ 16 bit) with a color space of Adobe RGB 1998. Ive
been told to assign a Color Space of sRGB when finished and uploading.
I only see "Working RGB: sRGB IEC61966-2.1", so I assume thats it...?

When I do convert to this Color Space by images loose heir RED punch! What am I
doing wrong?

General Stock Discussion / Time to use the blur tool?
« on: September 23, 2009, 19:06 »
Im a few months new in to microstock but--
I have a pic I really like and it was rejected for model releases needed. The people, although they are very VERY small in my opinion I obviously cant get releases as I cant even tell who they are.
My question is, since they are very incidental, can I blur their faces? Is this acceptable?

Note: the pic is NOT of an editorial nature.

Steve
