Microstock Monitor / still maintaned???
« on: July 02, 2008, 15:39 »
I just looked it up, seems Daneel was the last time on line here in FEBRUARY! Is microstockmonitor still maintained, updated, or just another dead fish in the adds-on pond? SY

General Stock Discussion / Are you an image reviewer?
« on: November 23, 2007, 16:54 »
Updating my web site I added a forum with a hidden board for image reviewers. You can check it out here: How to apply... (Ok, obviously not the hidden board but the "portal" to it...) As I started reviewing for stock sites more then a year ago I tried to find something like this, a place where reviewers can exchange tips and tricks and discuss their work conditions but I couldn't find anything! So I thought now with the web site re-vamp it is a good possibility to offer this, SY

PS I am reviewing for Lucky Oliver....

Image Sleuth / Stolen Images Alarm Blog
« on: August 11, 2007, 05:26 »
I set here http://stolenimagesalarm.blogspot.com/ a blog up where I will post in future every alarm/ suspicion about stolen images I come across the boards/ forums I submit to. You can subscribe by email and/ or feed. This should serve to get information about possibly stolen/ misused images quick out to everybody concerned without the problem of posting in the forum of one agency information about another agency. Tell me please what you think (you will see this message across several different sites today, I want to get the word out asap, before the next case happens). SY

Hi, I try to build up a database of on line/ digital stock libraries. And I am looking for links! So if you can help, please post links to stock sites in this thread, dont hesitate to include your referral link, in case I want to join *lol* But seriously now, my long term aim is to build up a data base of sites where to sell photos, illustrations and footage. This is a long-term project, so please dont expect soon a link to the ultimate and searchable stock directory ;-) I am especially interested in links of small specialized agencies type stock images of trains built between 1903 and 1904 :-) I can read fluently German, English (obviously), Spanish and French and defend myself in reading Dutch, Portuguese and Italian. So dont post Russian or Japanese links here ;-) Thanks ever so much, SY

Hi, I searched the forums for information about the "ideal" model release, means a release accepted by every stock site. The solution seems to be to use the istock release and just delete any icons etc that refer to istock. But then it still says "by the laws of Alberta, Canada". So I am from the UK, my models (hopefully) are from the UK, how do I explain the reference to Canada???

The reason I ask is: We are trying to get the first UK Ballyhoo going and I need a model release that is valid for everybody.
I also need a simple liability waiver for the participants in this events and and a simple property release where the owner of the place (a farm) agrees to the shoot and the use of the images (just in case, more a formality really) does anybody have an idea where to get these from, Thanks SY

In case you're still not on LO here my referral link (just out of habit ;-)

Adobe Stock / the big clean out???
« on: July 01, 2007, 12:09 »
Just played around with alexa.com 's time-machine, this handy little thing allows you to see how a site looked in the past, that is what I found at

http://web.archive.org/web/20070407181326/http://www.fotolia.com/

Now, that is either the biggest clean out in microstock history or Fotolia "lost" during the transition to V2 over 800 000 images

Images on line 7th April 2007 2,869,750
Images on line today            1,957,503

Off Topic / new way for cross promotion!
« on: May 19, 2007, 05:29 »
;-) Attention! Contains some referral links! ;-)

Some weeks ago I was contacted by this people: printbusinesscards.com and after thinking quite a while about and asking some more questions I decided to give it a try because I noticed it might be a good possibility to promote my portfolio to other markets/ buyers. So what it is about? First of all joining is free, you then start to design templates for business cards (Stock images make great templates for business cards as we are hopefully used to design/ shoot with copy-space in mind!)and put them on line. Customers can then buy business cards with your design, but not the file itself!, from  printbusinesscards.com.
You get $5 per (first) sale/ customer, if the SAME customer comes back and buys the same card again you get nothing ;-( .
Minimum pay out is 25$. You retain the copyright and the image is non-exclusive to them, means it is an additional outlet for your work and you don't have to put up exclusive work there.

And now the interesting part, if you have min 12 templates submitted they set up a mini-site for you with links to your web site, blog or portfolio, here is mine: My Mini Site
The other great thing is that you can link each template to the original image you have with a stock agency like FeaturePics! So if somebody wants not only the business cards with your design but also the image to put it for exemple on their web page s/he can buy it from your portfolio at FeaturePics (and becomes your referral at FeaturePics also!). More sales for you! I think that is a very clever idea to promote your portfolio to other markets. I have choosen to link to FeaturePics because of the high percentage you get there of each sale and the possibility that each of YOUR images serves as a referral link for you, but you can equally link the template to an other site that allows per image sales, your own home page etc.
Only draw back for me, they dont have a decent referral programme! At least not one that uses tracking cookies, ;-( nethertheless if you invite somebody to join and forward the name to them you get $25 as soon as this person has 25 templates approved! This referral programme is only valid until the end of this month (May). So if anybody wants to join I would be very grateful if you pm me or respond to this thread as soon as you signed up. ;-) In exchange I volunteer to answer your questions, provided I know the answer! New Sites - General / question for designers
« on: February 12, 2007, 17:59 »
How do you search for images? Color? Copy Space? Are there keywords you never use/avoid? What else. If we, the contributors understand better HOW you, the designers search, we could improve our keywords and everybody wins.SY  ;)

I put something on my new site to make link exchanges easier http://sybilleyates.com/linkexchange.html please give it a try and tell me your opinion... SY

General Stock Discussion / Rinder to the UK
« on: November 09, 2006, 03:15 »
Kerioak and I contacted Laurin Rinder about doing a photography course here in the UK next year. Obviously he can't do it for free... Would anybody here be interested to join in? We're thinking of renting a cottage (unless somebody of you has a big house ;) and running several courses one after the other of 4-6 people. Any takers?
