Shutterstock.com / rejection for illustration tag
« on: January 17, 2014, 02:58 »
Hello. I had some images rejected with the message "In order for this to be reviewed correctly, resubmit & tag as illustration ?? http://shutr.bz/16yi5FM"
They are some wooden textures, composites, but not vectors. I don't make vectors and I don't know how to tag them in the category "illustration", as I don't find it. Please help. Thanks.

Hi, I made some images of wild birds on ice today, and I wonder if it's worth selling them to micros. The other wildlife pics I have are not selling very good, so I wonder where can I sell these kind for a better revenue. Thanks.

Shutterstock.com / Today I've reached the first milestone
« on: March 17, 2013, 14:07 »
Hello. I want to thank you all for your feedback and for answering my questions (and I had some) during this past year.
Today I reached the first 500$ at SS. It took me one year and 3 days, and 998 dlds, and a port of 643 images today. It was a slow journey for me it seems, but I learned many things about photography and it was an interesting journey. Hope I'll hit some great salers and shorten the way to the next milestone of 3000.

PS: As this was discussed in others topics, I want to share the percentage of sales, as this was a question for me at the beginning, and maybe it'll help some newbies (I am also new to MS).
   25-a-day   45.70%
   OD           23.48%
   SOD           2.60%
   EL            27.93%
ref             0.29% (this is not relevant as it may vary alot)
I also noticed that I have one EL/200dlds, steady in the past 3 months with one a month. Also, more than half of the money were made in the last 3 months, so it started very slow but going pretty steady from a point.

PS2: I have something like 15 editorial images, bad sellers, but it was an editorial that hit the milestone, the second sale in 7 months for the file, for 1.88  :)

Dreamstime.com / very low sales
« on: March 14, 2013, 01:21 »
Hello. I upload to DT and other acencies for a year now. I don't have a professional port and i do it for fun. But, if i look at the stats from the pool, it's clear i have a problem at DT.
Someone opened a topic about sales/port at SS, and i saw my sales are like many others. So  my images are low sellers, but match with the others that don't shoot professional but only for fun. But at DT,t hey are pathetic, and the numbers are not growing at all. I wonder if it's worth uploading other pictures. Probably it isn't.
   my stats are:
   febr2012       34 pics   1 sale
   march2012    67pics    2 sales
   april2012      103pics   1sale
   may2012      142pics  3sales
   june2012      184pics     0
   july2012       200pics     0
   aug2012       242pics  2sales
   sept2012      307pics  6sales
   oct2012        375pics  6sales
   nov2012       447pics  6sales
   dec2012       515pics  8sales
   ian2013        594pics 7sales
   febr2013       676pics 6sales

Now i have 717pics and so far 3 sales this month. This way. i'll reach payment after 3 years, when i will have probably 2000pics or more. I find it very weird. My acceptance ratio grew up steady at DT, and they have a graph for exposure, witch is  growing also. Two weeks ago i had a file chosen for editors  choice, and it is having lots of views, but 0 dlds.
At SS and FT the sales are growing with the port, IS was my best for the first 6 months, it's going down, but that's not weird.
Maybe you can help, maybe i made some mistakes at DT. Thanks

Adobe Stock / must submit ID again?
« on: November 29, 2012, 01:21 »
Hello. When I go to "My Files", up on the page it's the message with the ID: Important Your ID must be submitted before your files can be validated and offered for sale. To upload a copy of your ID card, please visit the contributor parameters section in your Profile. I signed with them in january or ferbuary 2012, I don't remember, and I subnitted teh ID that time. My files appear to be online at this time. It's  bug or I must resubmit my ID?
Thanks

I want to learn more about this tehnique. So, how do you make HDR images, with dedicated software or in PS by layers?

This is my port on SS:

I'm less than a year in microstock (and photography).
My question is: how many dlds/month should I expect from these files at SS. I'm talking about dlds only on SS. I don't want photo critique here, only a number. Thank you all.

Shutterstock.com / new submissions not selling
« on: November 06, 2012, 10:24 »
Hi. I made 4 pictures about christmas, only to have some. I don't shoot seasonal, probably this is no good. They were on a bunch of 22. Last night (european time), they were reviewed, and I had 20 accepted. Very happy about that, but they showed in active images, and in searches, some 12 hours after. I searched after 10 hours (in the morning) and they were not active.
Now, when they showed up, searching for "christmas" I found that they were on the 8th page. So no chance of selling ever. What to do?

Shutterstock.com / property release for blueprints
« on: October 17, 2012, 01:26 »
Hello. I used a blueprint in one photo and was rejected for copyright. Now, I made the drawing as I work architecture, and I don't know now how to make the property release. I must print it and sign myself?
Then, I saw that you need some witness to sign. How do they know that I really made the drawings if I sign?
And then, I must scan the document with the signature and send along with the file?
Thank you, I'm a newbie and the first time to do this.

Shutterstock.com / number of dlds per month at SS
« on: August 24, 2012, 11:57 »
Hello all. I'm new in microstock, having a little port, but wondering why my numbers are so flat.
Now, I was accepted to SS at the end of March, from the second attempt.
My numbers are (no of pictures at the beginning of month):
april         44 files          19dlds
may         74 files          29dlds
june       113 files          27dlds
july        171 files          31dlds

Now I have 203 files, and guess how many dlds in 24th of the month...I would like to say 24, but no, only 23. The day isn't over, so probably I will have  24 till tomorrow ;D. I don't know wo said "sales will go up and down" - he was wrong :D. Sales remain exactly the same for me. It is weird that despite of increase of port, no of dlds is the same. I know it's a little port but anyway...In fact, the only agency where I can see an increase is IS.
Another weird thing is that my earnings from subscriptions are very low, about 30% of all I earned. The rest are ELs, ODs, and one SOD.
And another: max number of dlds per day still remains 3. I had three dlds in a day back in march, with something like 15 pictures. It seems that it's like a wall.
Two weeks back I decided to add keywords to my pictures, as I had many with 20-25. So I added to a minimum of 40. Guess what, no improve in dlds. I simply don't understand.
Thank you in advance for sharing your opinion.

Shutterstock.com / first payment
« on: July 05, 2012, 14:06 »
Hello. I'm new in this forum and in microstock too. Today I've reached fist payment from SS, after 3 months and a half, and now having 171 pics. The payment will be only next month I think, since I reached the 75$ today. Happy about it but concerned about the way I made it. Now having 85 $, with two ELs. So my normal dlds are really poor. I don't know if it's good or bad, and want to ask about  your opinion. I have only photos, not vectors, and I'm a begginer in photography, having a DSLR for less then a year. Thank you.
PS: I've opened another topic on newbie, then I saw that it will be seen only by the people with less than 50 posts. As I want the reply of those with more experience, I opened another here. Please delete the first, cause I don't find how to delete it. Thank you
