Adobe Stock / New design is confusing and awkward.
« on: November 14, 2018, 11:42 »
As much as I like the better sales at Adobe I really can't get on with the new contributor account design. I don't like the logical layout and everything is very difficult to find. I also have no way of searching my images to make sure I am not uploading duplicates.

Anyone else finding the same issues ? Its really awful to navigate. I much prefer the old Fotolia site layout.

Dreamstime.com / Anyone sell audio on DT ?
« on: June 01, 2018, 05:25 »
I uploaded a handful of sounds some time ago but surprisingly I have had a few sales with just those files. Does anyone else submit audio as well as images to DT with similar success ?

Adobe Stock / Photo sold for 0.33 cents client had printed
« on: February 19, 2018, 06:32 »
I was walking past a local shop in my town and noticed a print on the wall of my image. Having made enquires how they obtained it they tell me it was from Adobe. Looking back at my sales I see the images was purchased for a mere 0.33 cents. Is this fair when the buyer has a print made ?

This is horrendous. My entire SS port for free from thieves. What on earth are SS doing with their security giving Jpeg previews away ?

Shutterstock.com / SS down and ftp uploading painfully slow
« on: November 13, 2017, 17:20 »
What on earth is going on with SS ? first they allow thieves to steal our work, they mess around with the submission process making it a painful mess, then the ftp server is extremely slow today (and I have super fast broadband)and now I can't get onto the site as it's down. has SS been taken over by brainless Zombies ?

General - Stock Video / Dreamstime worth submitting video ?
« on: November 11, 2017, 13:58 »
I submit to Fotolia, Storyblocks, SS and Pond5. The only odd sale I have had is with SS and Pond5. Is it worth uploading to DT as I have found the photos are selling a bit better this last month.

VideoBlocks / Can't sign in or upload via Fttp
« on: October 16, 2017, 02:58 »
I can't sign into my Storyblocs account as it says they are incorrect credentials (they are not). I also can't upload via Fttp (Filezilla) as I get a 530 error. I joined about 3 weeks ago and all my videos are still waiting for review.

Is the site down ?

Shutterstock.com / What is happening to SS?
« on: October 13, 2017, 03:01 »
I am absolutely stunnedby how bad SS sales have dropped in the last year. October is looking tragic and set to fail at making payout. Sometimes a video sale here and there would pull me though but no longer, even though I have recently added a lot more footage. Has anyone else found it unbelievably dire of late ?

So demotivating.

Software - General / Why is Lightroom so slow ?
« on: August 21, 2017, 14:34 »
Since I upgraded to the latest version of Lightroom I find it even slower than the last version. Once you start layering brushes it's painfully slow and I have a reasonably decent PC. Even worse is when it backs up, it takes an eternity and makes EVERYTHING else on the pc almost unusable until it has finished. Great tool but horribly slow.

iStockPhoto.com / Tax interview - Where do I find it
« on: April 26, 2017, 02:48 »
I can't believe that my statement shows that I have been deducted 30% tax from my US earnings when in fact I remember filling out a tax interview with my US tax number as a UK resident. Can anyone tell me where I find this illusive form to fill in yet again as I can't find it. Also, when filled in will they reimburse me with the tax I have already been charged ?

the whole new system is a nightmare. Why oh why did they change it from istock ?

Software - General / Upgrading to Lightroom 6
« on: March 11, 2017, 15:32 »
I am in a dilemma as I am still on Lightroom 5 standalone and want to upgrade to 6. I have never used Photoshop so not sure it will be needed as Lightroom does so much. I am tempted by the CC cloud version of both combined but as I have already bought into the standalone LR it may be counter cost effective.

Can anyone tell me if they think the CC way to go is good, is Photoshop an essential tool for general stock (I don't shoot with people) or is it better to wait for LR 7 and pay for the upgrade to that ?

iStockPhoto.com / Deep Metta 3 showing blank
« on: February 15, 2017, 13:37 »
I have managed access Deep Metta 3 but Non of my details or images are showing. It's all blank. No help from support. Completely in the dark

iStockPhoto.com / Multiple refunds for images coming in
« on: December 22, 2016, 12:42 »
Well it gets worse and worse at IS. I have just had 5 emails all come in stating a refund for each one:

We regret to inform you that a refund of $3.50 has been issued for the purchase of your file #*******This transaction has now been voided from your GI or Partner Program sales. The client has complied with all policies surrounding the refund and destruction of this file.

What does this mean except I have now lost $23 from my already low earnings ?

Alamy.com / Keywording system not changed
« on: December 20, 2016, 03:58 »
Some time ago I read that the new keywording system was in place instead of the time consuming 3 tier system. I am still finding nothing has changed and the system is still 3 tier. Has this now been scrapped ?

Alamy.com / Submitting editorial images
« on: November 22, 2016, 06:30 »
I have editorial images that I want to sell on Alamy but I see no option to select Editorial except royalty free or rights managed. With SS for example you can clearly select "editorial" on submission but nowhere on Alamy is any option.

Can anyone please direct me or do they not take editorial ?

Alamy.com / Alamy search doesn't work well
« on: November 18, 2016, 03:36 »
I am wondering why I don't get any sales and now I see. When I search on the Alamy front page with keywords, it fails to bring up my images even though I have ALL the keywords I put in the search. I have looked carefully at my images, checked all the keywords are there and yet the search engine fails to show them. This is why I don't get sales I believe because their algorythm fails.

Anyone else getting this ?

iStockPhoto.com / Sales stopped last Thursday
« on: July 05, 2016, 12:38 »
I have been getting consistent audio downloads at IS, this year with increased images sales up until last Thursday and I have not had a single sale since 30th June in both media.

Anyone else experienced this unusual halt ?  :-\

Dreamstime.com / Anyone submitting audio ?
« on: May 17, 2016, 05:28 »
I had a recent email informing me DT are now accepting audio. I have submitted some for review to see how the land lies but I do notice no audio is live on the site as yet. Anyone else having a punt ?

Selling Stock Direct / Go Paparazzo any good ?
« on: April 18, 2016, 03:43 »
I have a few images of a famous person and I am wondering if best to sell here http://www.gopaparazzo.com/photo/view_all/international/INT Rather than editorial on SS/IS etc ?

As we can post links for most of our microstock images and footage on social media like twitter, Faceache, pintrest, instagram etc I was wondering if it works for anyone here in boosting sales. For instance, would randomly posting an image of a subject be picked up by a client who is looking for the image with the same keyword ? I have tried myself a tew times but can't really say there is evidence as nobody lets you know. Wha I do get are followers who are doing similar things like photography, music production. Not sure why following an unkown like me will help them.

General Stock Discussion / Sick of getting crumbs
« on: April 01, 2016, 01:06 »
I don't know about anyone else here but I am sick of earning crumbs from under the table from the feast that the fat cats are getting from our images. Piddling little sales of a few cents (converted to UK pounds spells even less) I didn't study photography for 4 years as a student to be one day being reduced to earning a pittance from my images. As a student we were told of the lucrative career we could make from photography.

It's like everything online that has been devalued. Music, video footage and photography. Rant over.

I have been told by a very excited friend that Instagram is the thing to have for promoting your images. Just would like your opinions here as to how useful it is for your microstock or even selling privately etc ? To my first impressions it seems more geared around mobile phone users of which I am not. I have an ipad but find that impractical for taking shots. I just feel swamped with options that seem to all be doing pretty much the same thing like Twitter, Pinetrest and Instagram.

Microstock Audio / IS Audio PP sales tanked
« on: February 29, 2016, 04:52 »
This month has been pretty abysmal on a few sites for me but I notice a huge slump in PP sales in my IS audio this month. Anyone notice it ?

Microstock Audio / Istock audo never sells files later than 2011
« on: February 10, 2016, 11:46 »
My sales at istock audio never seem to get beyond 2011, mainly 2009 and 2010. I have a lot more added since so something is very wrong. I have contacted admin who tell me they notice that themselves but don't have any plan to address it.

Anyone else having this issue ?
