Canva / How can I quit Canva and get my content deleted????
« on: November 29, 2023, 21:32 »
I've looked and all I can find is the option to delete my "team" which does not seem to include deleting my content. I've had a bunch of old content hanging around there for years with a tiny bit of revenue but I now want to delete it but cannot even find an email address to do it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?   thnx.

General Stock Discussion / Shutterstock photo collection size
« on: August 07, 2020, 12:24 »
This has likely been covered before, but is there a way to collect data on  Shutterstock's photo collection size on a daily or even weekly basis. Hopefully historical and future. A friend is looking to chart the daily intake of photos into the collection.   Thnx

Canva / Withholding Tax from Canva - How to get it back??
« on: November 01, 2019, 12:49 »
Has anyone figured out how to get the tax back that Canva withheld? For the first time I actually received a statement from Canva showing the tax withheld. I've searched a bit on the internet but cannot find a clear answer. Anyone had any luck with this?  Thnx.

Cameras / Lenses / Tripod Legs Recommedation
« on: October 08, 2018, 16:37 »
Hi - Looking to buy some new tripod legs. Need something that can hit 7 feet, go really low and hold a heavy load. Looking at the Gitzo GT3543XLS :
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1328240-REG/gitzo_gt3543xlsus_systematic_tripod_ser_3_4s.html  - but pretty pricey.  Wondering if there is anything out there more reasonable. Weight of the tripod not an issue since I won't be backpacking it, etc. so does not have to be carbon fiber.   Any recommendations?

General Stock Discussion / Snapwire?
« on: September 08, 2015, 14:15 »
Anyone have experience on Snapwire as a stock agency? I found an old thread, but there is not much info. Not interested in the brief part - just the stock agency part. Thnx.

Dreamstime.com / 12 Royalty
« on: June 18, 2015, 09:27 »
I am thinking this is because the buyer only imagined using the photo, thus the imaginary royalty payout!

Alamy.com / RM prices same as RF
« on: June 04, 2015, 13:34 »
I put a few photos on RM on Alamy as a test and when I look at the pricing on the images it is identical to the pricing on the RF images, right up to the "Marketing package: Large business " option. After that there is  "Or choose another rights-managed license"   My sole reason for trying RM was to have the photos not sell at RF prices. Am I missing something here?

General Stock Discussion / Stockbo for Sale
« on: October 30, 2014, 11:22 »
Anyone looking to buy an agency! Received this today from Stockbo:

Hey everyone!

Hope you are having a great day today!

In keeping our promise to inform you all about any major developments in the business, today we have some news that we would like to share with you.

After a recent meeting between the directors of Stockbo, we have decided that we will offer the business for sale. The reason for this is due to a lack of time between all of us to take Stockbo to where it deserves to be. This was a difficult decision to make for all of us but we believe it is in the best interests for Stockbo moving forward, for the vision and for our beloved members and photographers.

We are currently in talks with some parties in Perth that may be interested in acquiring the business. Regardless of who acquires the business, we plan to ensure that the current terms and conditions that we have set out during this amazing journey will be upheld. Our number one priority has always been providing a platform focused towards fairness for our valued photographers, something that we hold dear to our hearts.

If any of you would be interested to take command of this business, please get in touch with us via email or simply send us a private message on our Facebook page.

We would like to express our gratitude for all of your efforts in making Stockbo what it is today. Without your fabulous contributions, Stockbo would just be a plain stock platform like many that exist today.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Best Regards!

The Stockbo Team

Eugene, Hung, Kevin, Ranjeev

General - Stock Video / Archival Video Questions
« on: October 18, 2014, 08:02 »
I have a bunch of archival 8mm film, some travel, some lifestyle from 1940 - 1960-ish. It is family movies, shot by my father long deceased, which I inherited. Is there a viable market for archival footage? I believe copyright has expired, but what about model releases? Thanks.

I find this somewhat sad. I supposed if I was a CGI artist I would applaud it.

"Today, reveals Enthed, about 75% of all IKEA product images are CGI, and rendered at ridiculously high resolution so theyre good for everything from web viewing to wall-sized displays in IKEAs stores. And as time goes on and rendering software continues to get better, traditional photography promises to play a smaller and smaller role."

"The real turning point for us was when, in 2009, they called us and said, You have to stop using CG. Ive got 200 product images and theyre just terrible. You guys need to practice more. So we looked at all the images they said werent good enough and the two or three they said were great, and the ones they didnt like were photography and the good ones were all CG! Now, we only talk about a good or a bad image not what technique created it.

The super macro approach!!

"Given this rapidly worsening status-quo, wedding and commercial photographer Greg Lumleys latest venture is either incredibly ballsy, or incredibly nave: hes trying to sell a single print of his viral aerial photograph of Cape Town for $35,000 no we didnt add a zero by mistake."

« on: May 28, 2014, 14:23 »
I have a handful of photos on Stockbo and just noticed I have had a small sale. I'm wondering if anyone else has had sales/experience with them to share. I've been waiting to upload more to see how it goes and make sure there IPTC issues are resolved.

Shutterstock.com / SOD/OD/ED seem to have stopped in May
« on: May 09, 2014, 13:43 »
I had a great April, but this month (May) SOD, OD, and EDs are almost non-existent. I'm wondering if anyone else is seeing this?

I have noticed over that last year I will sell an image on one of the big 4 sites and the image, or a similar, will sell within an hour or so on other sites, usually at different prices. I always thought it was coincidence (and maybe it is) but it seems to happen on a regular basis. I just sold one on SS that sold an hour ago on DT (for much more). It's not a popular photo, or frankly a very good image. I wonder if it has something to do with Google searches?

iStockPhoto.com / Trouble deleting images from iStock
« on: January 12, 2014, 14:54 »
I've been trying to delete some images from iStock. It worked for one image. Now after I click on administration I am sent to the buyer's version of the image with no options that I can see to deactivate. (Yes I am logged in). Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?

Bigstock.com / How do I delete file from BigStock

I rather urgently need to delete some images from BigStock -- but I cannot see a mechanism for doing this. Can anyone enlighten me?

Macrografiks / Sales on Macrografiks
« on: January 04, 2014, 09:25 »
I like the people at Macrografiks --  they have been great to deal with. I realize they are a startup, but I am wondering if anyone has had any sales (I have not)? As well my monthly views have dropped, although I attribute the original high numbers to other photographers.

Photography Equipment / Wacom tablet - need pro version?
« on: November 15, 2013, 14:20 »
I'm thinking of buying a Wacom Intuos tablet for post production/retouching photos. Do I need the pro version or will the non-pro do the trick? Also, I have a 23" monitor -- will the small size tablet  be ok for this. Many thanks and sorry if this duplicates other posts.
