Microstock Monitor / Microstock monitor with Firefox?
« on: August 31, 2008, 21:54 »
Hi guys...hopefully I haven't missed something but my Firefox/3.0.1/ no longer supports Microstock Monitor.. has anyone else come across this?  I tried uploading the newest version, but that didn't work either.

And whilst we're at it...  is there a way of dropping the sites you no longer want to see there like LO and Geeko?

Thanks.  JC

General Stock Discussion / Gecko a goner!
« on: June 03, 2008, 05:44 »
just in:

Hi
It is with great regret that i shall have to close Geckostock.
All images will be deleted from disk this week.
Any payments due will be paid over the next few weeks.

The site went down yesterday and i decided not to try and get things running due to low sales.
I can't see any future in the site.

I would like to thank you all for your past support and for allowing Geckostock the right to show your images.
Those of you that worry about your images please don't the disk will have a full reformat and your images will never be used or saved in any way.

I would like to ask newcomers to Geckostock and the world of stock in general please don't be put off by your experience at Geckostock and to upload to other stock sites as you maybe more succesfull. Please try new sites as they maybe more successful than Geckostock.

I think a whole new way of selling stock is needed for the success of a new site. This may come soon!

I have enjoyed the time spent with all the contributors and learnt so much.

Thank you and good luck with sales.

iStockPhoto.com / Something new to chew on!
« on: November 11, 2007, 17:50 »
Hi guys...  I know I started playing in Microstock as bit of a social experiment and for the most part, I enjoy it.  Really do get some great laughs and try hard not to take it too seriously ( the rejections that is!) ...  but this one has me stumped.

I'm OK with the artifacting rejections with are terribly inconsistent, but in the middle of a submission I got a few images rejected for ...  and I quote
" We regret to inform you that we cannot accept your submission, entitled Racing_03 ( http://www1.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/4611251/2/istockphoto_4611251_racing_03.jpg) for addition to the iStockphoto library for the following reasons:

Please refrain from personal naming or number systems when titling your file. This affects the quality of search results and should be removed for future uploads.

Example 'A Five Pencils' or '1 Five Red Pencils'
Example 'A1, A, AAA, 1A, etc.'

If you require further explanation regarding this rejection, please forward this message and your questions to Client Relations ([email protected])"

Now every image I have online is numbered...  simple as that.  Most are part of a bigger submissions and to date (including today!), ISP has a never had an issue.

Just for fun...  I thought I'd give you all something else to worry about when submitting.

Good luck I say.

Cheers,  JC

New Sites - General / How can they do this?
« on: August 12, 2007, 18:26 »
???  sorry guys, did I miss the thread about Microstockphoto and the lack of model releases?

Just had a look around in my area of interest (sport) and found soooo many images with clear logos and clear faces without model releases being sold as royalty free images.  Even if they aren't the best images in the world..  it has the ability to leave a bad taste in everyone's mouth should something here (or elsewhere) go sour.

Any thoughts?

General Stock Discussion / keyword spamming?
« on: May 27, 2007, 23:38 »
Howdy..

Just had the strangest thing...3 pics submitted from one series.  Two of the three had the same exact caption and keywords as one was just a cropped image.    The cropped image was accepted but the other two images were rejected on the grounds of keyword spamming.

I'm not a wordsmith and don't get carried away with the keyword..  literal is what you might call me, but accepting one image and rejecting two is strange.

Or should I just get use to it and carry on?

cheers for now.

JC
