General Stock Discussion / Getty images? istock?
« on: August 16, 2018, 08:55 »
Hi just wondering if anyone can give me any pointers, I started upload to istock about 3 years ago and kind of gave up approx 1.5 years back, I get a small income from getty since I have a few thousand images in my port. But havnt used it properly since it went over to esp etc

Now my question is what's the difference between getty images and istock, I have in the last 2 years been more focused towards kinda fine art style stuff but also have a few images from locations and hiking / outdoor style shots, now as I sell some of them as canvas and prints I don't want to fload them onto the internet via RF, so I'm considering selling them via RM with either Getty or Alamy,

What is the difference between istock now and getty and how do I sell on Getty exclusive rights managed?

And if so are the payouts pretty good from that end..

Thanks. Seb

General Stock Discussion / Little help with rights
« on: June 16, 2016, 09:59 »
Hi I don't post much on the forum but have 2 quick question, firstly I'm struggling to get stuff on SS and as ever IS due to it being during an event. IE credentials required. but I'm pretty sure I don't need them

First one was a Red Arrows display at an Airshow in Torquay, the photos were taken from public land and it was a free to enter show run by the local council and other bodies, the images are marked as Editorial, but SS want a photographic even credentials for it!! whilst IS has let them through, Normally the other way around.

Secondly I was at a local agricultural show, This time the Royal Cornwall show, now I get how this could be more tricky as it a paid event and could be on private land, but I emailed the show asking if I needed any permission and are there any photographic protected rights and he stated in his short reply "Thank you for your email but we do not exercise any photographic rights over images taken at the show, however we are always grateful to receive a few good pictures for possible pr purposes in the future, should this be possible"

Now does this mean they don't have any restrictions or they don't allow any images??

If any one could get back to me that knows a little more about this that would be great..

Thanks
Seb

General Stock Discussion / Editorial?
« on: June 09, 2015, 02:18 »
Hi new to the forum tried doing some searches but could not find much,

Just a quick question about editorial images, I fully understand the use with regard to unreleased models and say landmarks, but could someone let me know if there are any time or age restrictions, such as can a picture of a train from before a certain period or a car before a certain period be used as commercial license.

If there are any other exceptions it would be great to know them..

Thanks in advance...
Seb
