Adobe Stock / Footage with Alphas
« on: August 07, 2019, 14:54 »
I recently uploaded some 4K animated graphics that have an alpha channel. The footage is compressed Prores 4444.

I noticed that the Adobe Stock site is staying that the 4K version is Prores, but that the the auto generated HD version of my 4K footage is compress as H264, which doesnt support an Alpha Channel. So if someone buys the HD version of my footage, they are not going to get the Alpha.

Is this a bug?

What are other people doing as far as uploading footage with Alphas?

Thanks.

This applies mostly to people who are submitting animated footage. If you're submitting something with an Alpha, do you render it as Premultiplied or Straight? Straight gives better results when composited, but the un-composited video can look pretty funky if you have transparencies.

General - Stock Video / ProRes or H.264
« on: February 11, 2019, 13:16 »
Currently I upload all of my footage as ProRes, but I've been thinking about switching to using H.264. Is anyone having any problems with having H.264 footage accepted at any of the stock sites?

How do you prefer to compress you footage?

Thanks,
Forrest

General Photography Discussion / Group Shoot Model Release
« on: May 16, 2018, 13:07 »
Not really stock related, but I thought someone here might be able to help.

I'm organizing a group photo shoot with a model and 10 photographers. It's mostly for fun and for people to get experience with working with a model, so not for generating stock. I would like to have a simple model release that the model could sign once and I can give to all of photographers. Anyone have any suggestions? Can I just put all of the photographers names on one release?

Thanks!

General - Stock Video / Free Program For Converting Time Lapse?
« on: August 28, 2017, 16:01 »
I shoot a low of time lapse and use After Effects for processing the videos. But I have a friend who would like to try time lapse, but doesn't have access to After Effects. Can anyone recommend a free program for converting photo sequences in to video files. Thanks.

General - Stock Video / Mostly Stock Video Commercial?
« on: May 22, 2017, 19:06 »
Anyone have some good examples of higher-end TV commercials that use a lot of stock videos? Preferably with people.

I've been shooting more with models and actors, and thought it would handy to have a couple of good examples of stock footage being used to show people when I'm explaining to them what stock footage is.

I know I've seen commercials in the past where I've thought it looked like it was mostly stock, but I can't think of any at the moment.

Thanks,
Forrest
