Adobe Stock / Fotolia slow in March?
« on: March 20, 2008, 02:40 »
Apologies Leaf for previous post which came out with very strange fonts (unreadable).

FT has been unnaturally slow during march, especially during the last two weeks, for me. But I'm looking at the ranks (total and 7 days) and they seem to point a general slowdown? Also, I can't seem to access the site  consistently over the past week.

Anyone notice anything similar?

Photoshop Discussion / Lab mode and curves
« on: November 15, 2007, 02:53 »
Hi,

After reading something re working in Lab mode with PS for curves on this forum (I had already been giving it a try for noise) I did my research and tried it out.

The results are remarkable!

A strange thing happens though. When I open the file with PS the colours are there and the photo looks great. When I open the file with (windows) viewer, the photo looks flat and dull (as if it was never processed).

Has this sort of thing happened to you? I'm reluctant to upload my batch until I sort this out.

Site Related / I found this very funny
« on: November 09, 2007, 07:29 »
this morning I found a rejection from a site I won't mention because of nude/explicit content.

the photo has been accepted at fotolia and other sites. You can see it here.

i'm not griping, please don't take me wrong. it was just a hilarious start to my day.

Photo Critique / portfolio critique
« on: October 15, 2007, 05:35 »
I'm new to this (since May on Fotolia), but have developed a big passion, working a couple of hours every day (after work and after the baby is in bed!).

I understand that I'm far, far, away from professional photos like I've seen in some of your portfolios, but considering limited time and equipment (Olympus X-1), I would really like your critisism.

Please bash away!

Adobe Stock / gem ranking & speed statistics
« on: October 12, 2007, 07:13 »
Hi,

I'm two short of a bronze badge on Fotolia. I joined in May 2007 and have gradually built up a portfolio of about 500 photos so far (i.e. roughly 6 months with an average of 250 photos - although June & July were bad months). Ofcourse, I now understand the process a lot better and like to think that my pictures are improving.

I wonder what your experience is ?

The other thing i noticed is that the older part of my portfolio is responsible for most sales and wonder whether there is a "maturity" issue as well.

Adobe Stock / uploading problems
« on: July 12, 2007, 05:36 »
Hello veterans,

Signed up at Fotolia in mid-may and managed to get 300 odd images approved before version 2. Am newcomer to this field, and was exhilarated when the first photo was sold.

Todate, and despite the technical problems, sales continue sporadically.

Trouble is that I've got another big batch to upload, and it is impossible!
I use simple upload (cant use FTP) and after hitting the browse and upload buttons, nothing happens. I am led to a blank page instead of an editing page.

I've contacted support, ofcourse, and they've sent me a "we're working on it message".

Anyone else having this particular problem?  It's very frustrating.

Thanks,

Lina
