Fairly decent month. Nothing exceptional, but decent overall.

However, I will never understand their licensing terms I'm afraid.

General Stock Discussion / Wirestock's Adobe portfolio is offline
« on: December 21, 2022, 06:30 »
Anyone else wondering where the Adobe sales on Wirestock went this month?

Well, they just aren't there.
I just found out that the Wirestock portfolio's on Adobe are gone.

https://stock.adobe.com/fi/contributor/210881076/wirestock-creators

Only the Adobe Exclusive portfolio is still online

Support staff replied that the portfolio at Adobe is "under maintenance". Whatever that is supposed to mean.
Another reply was that they are renegotiating terms with Adobe. Really? Wirestock gets different terms than regular contributors?

Sad to see how Wirestock continues to deteriorate.
Such a mess this once very promising startup became.

Just found out that Wirestock also partnered up with Freepik, Canva and 123RF, all under the Extra Channels umbrella.

This means that all of your content which was selected for Extra Channels is now available on Freepik (flat fee/unlimited downloads shared revenue, or whatever you call that program) Selected content will be provided to 123RF (PLUS program I assume) and Canva.

The previously also had the Korean agency Miricanvas under extra channels, also a shared revenue plan.

It shows in our sales dashboard: 3 cents per download at 123RF and 4 cents for what I assume to be Freepik sales.

Can't say I'm happy with this "additional opportunities". I avoided any unlimited/flat fee and shared revenue plan so far, but Wirestock decided to throw my stuff in.
They'd better made those agencies available as an extra selectable option, but I guess they don't want to do that because very few of us would opt-in.

So beware, if you're still using Wirestock and don't want your content on those agencies: don't select extra channels!
It's basically giving Wirestock the permission to do whatever they want with your content.

I'm still waiting for my May payout at Eyeem.
The payout status is still in status "Requested".
Already reached out to their support, but no answer so far.

So I'm hesitating to request my June payout.

iStockPhoto.com / February statements are in
« on: March 20, 2022, 02:34 »
Fairly good month at iStock. They are definitely performing way better than last year (at least for me).

What I did see: a lot of 1,2 cent (yes that's right, I triplechecked) sales from China.
Does anyone know what the deal is here?

Brought up on the Shutterstock forum, but some of you might have missed it.

Check the guy's portfolio and then the ranking of his images
(not sure if I'm allowed to put up a link to his portfolio here, but you can find it on the SS forum in the One account phenomenon topic)
The guy has a lot of his images showing up on the first page for highly competitive keywords. (e.g. car, cat, beach, ...)

Now, I'm sure a lot of you have similar images in terms of quality of cars, cats, beaches and so on but most of them are probably nowhere near the first pages.
And he managed to get a lot of his content on the first page for highly competitive keywords. Not just a few lucky submissions which gained traction.
A bit too much to be a coincidence, and the balance between quality, competition and ranking seems to be off if you ask me.

So how did he do it?

My personal theory on this is that he paid clickfarm-like organizations to buy images from his portfolio until they reached on the first page.
Is it true? I don't know, but if it is, a lot of others are probably doing the same.
