Is anyone having trouble logging into Alamy? When I try to login, the page just refreshes itself and asks me to login again.

Shutterstock.com / Confusing Rejections re: Vintage
« on: June 01, 2017, 19:03 »
I have a huge collection of old stamps, post cards, and envelopes that I've been slowly scanning and adding to Shutterstock. Lately the rejections and acceptances have been confusing.

Stamps with postmarks not affixed to post card are accepted (submitted as editorial)
Post cards without stamps are accepted (submitted as editorial and commercial, depending on whether the post card is addressed to someone)
Post cards with stamps and postmarks are NOT accepted with the rejection reason given as no longer accepting public domain images or images with public domain elements (submitted as editorial)

That doesn't make sense, since stamps and post cards without stamps are accepted despite being in the public domain.  What do y'all think?  Am I missing something here or is the reviewer in error?

iStockPhoto.com / Just Checking on December Payment
« on: December 21, 2016, 17:56 »
Last year iStock paid us a week before Christmas. Such a nice gesture! This year, however, I haven't received a payment yet, so I was just wondering if anyone knew if they returned to their normal schedule this year.  Kinda like to know just in case they are holding my payment for someone and I need to contact support.  Thanks!

StockXpert.com / Payday Date?
« on: December 08, 2016, 17:32 »
Payday used to be on the last day of the month. Then it changed (without notice, of course) to a few days later.  Now I have no clue.  It seems to fall somewhere around the time when they report subscription earnings around the 15th.  Does anyone know?  Thanks!

StockXpert.com / Mass Payment Sent to Skrill, Not Paypal
« on: July 21, 2015, 13:51 »
Just wanted to let everyone know that if you requested payment from StockXpert before July 17th and wanted it sent to Paypal, it was mistakenly sent to Skrill.   >:(  I've sent two support tickets (one before, one after discovering the error) and will let you know what I find out.

« on: February 14, 2015, 15:39 »
Is anyone having problems logging in at StockXpert?  When I click the login button, the page simply refreshes and doesn't take me to my account.  I sent a ticket to support...we'll see how many months it takes for a response.   ;)

Adobe Stock / Shocking Fotolia Earnings Drop
« on: November 21, 2012, 13:16 »
Six years and over 2000 uploads later, my monthly earnings at Fotolia have dropped so significantly since May 2011 that I'm now earning the same as when I started in Jan. 2006.  Take a look at my earnings chart!  It's shocking!

For the past 12 hours, I haven't been able to completely access 123RF.  Only text is loading.  I've tried Chrome and Firefox, and both have this issue.  Anyone else having problems?

Edit: lbarn sent me an idea for a possible fix to a dilemma mentioned in the instructions, so I'm going to check it out and see if I can get it fixed.  If I can, I'll update the instructions and provide a new URL.

iStockPhoto.com / Ideas for Exclusives
« on: January 19, 2012, 22:20 »
With all the recent changes at IS, it's a scary time for exclusives.  Some are scared to take the plunge into independence for good reason...an immediate loss of income.  So what can exclusives do to lessen the pain of independence?

First, you can start developing a RM portfolio at Alamy or other traditional RM sites.  Grow your RM portfolio instead of your IS portfolio.

Second, you can sell print-on-demand products at places like Zazzle, Red Bubble, Etsy, etc.

I'm sure others can share more ideas, but this is what's working for me as I slowly remove my portfolio from IS.  Building several different revenue avenues helps weather the storms, like low December sales or agency closures.  My Christmas sales at Zazzle made up for losses sustained during the holidays to my stock portfolio.  In two years, I haven't seen any decreases in my RF income from focusing on other projects...earnings have been remarkably steady...and I expect the same would hold true for exclusive IS portfolios.  Once those other avenues are built up, it will be much easier to walk away from exclusivity.

iStockPhoto.com / Hellman & Friedman = Bain Capital?
« on: January 12, 2012, 01:12 »
Ordinarily I keep politics separate from business, because it tends to achieve nothing other than unnecessary arguments, but after watching the mini-documentary "When Mitt Romney Comes to Town," all I could think was how reminiscent it was of what we're all witnessing happen at IS and Getty since Hellman & Friedman bought out Getty.

FYI - Mitt Romney is the front-running conservative candidate for US president, and is likely to compete against President Obama in the fall for the presidency.  For more info about H&F, you can search previous posts here on MSG.  Excellent information and thank you to all who posted it.

Borrowing $1.3 billion dollars against Getty's assets (and ours) in order to pay H&F shareholders and investors $500 million is the first clue.  Cutting our earnings because our portion of the royalties are "unsustainable" is the second clue.  Speeding up production to the point where new features are implemented before they actually work is the third clue (check out the guy who used to manufacture washing machines talk about shipping them out with missing parts).  And there's many more clues contained within the documentary that all point to the very real possibility that H&F really is cannibalizing IS for the sole purpose of providing profits for itself, its shareholders and its investors.

Maybe I'm too much of a liberal to be objective about the documentary's message, but I don't think so.  What do you guys think?

Edit caused by my cat jumping on my computer and hitting the return button too many times.   ;D

Curious...has anyone been seeing any PPD earnings being posted the past few months, or have mine just dried up?

Bigstock.com / Stats Problems at Bigstock
« on: December 22, 2011, 13:15 »
Yesterday I was 10 cents away from a payout at Bigstock.  After some sales were posted late last night, my cleared earnings dropped.  And then this morning more sales were posted and my cleared earnings dropped again.  Now I'm $18.90 away from payout.  Huh?  I checked my daily sales to see exactly how many images I'd sold, and two photos were sold multiple times at the same time and price.  Obviously the wonky monsters have attacked Bigstock and are playing around with our stats.  I notified BS, but wanted to see if anyone else is having this issue or if it's just me.

iStockPhoto.com / Thinkstock Migration Bugs
« on: December 02, 2011, 00:03 »
After reading several posts about problems with images and ridiculously low earnings on large ports at TS (Disorderly in particular), I checked mine and discovered some migration problems through both IS and StockXpert.

At IS, I have 800 images online, but only 793 migrated over when I opted in.  Where are the other seven images?

At StockXpert, I have 2216 images online, but only 1691 migrated over.  525 images don't show up.  Not only that, about six month ago I deleted my entire neon collection (200 images) plus 20 images I made exclusive on FT thanks to unusually high sales not seen on any other site.  All of those images are still on TS.

Suggest everyone double check their ports on TS and make sure everything is the way you expect it to be.  I haven't checked Photos.com yet...kinda scared to!   :(

Dreamstime.com / Wonky Stats at DT

My November stats didn't update with sales from Wednesday.  Noticed that my November totals have moved into December totals, despite not selling any images yet in December.

Is anyone else having problems?

Looks like MSNCB is using FeaturePics.  Shot of a bowl of chocolate ice cream, no photographer credit.  Nice to see someone is using photos from one of the smaller companies.

If you've ever wondered if your photos are good or bad, Xerox has created software that will analyze their aesthetic quality.  Xerox's website doesn't say how much the software costs.
