General Stock Discussion / Online color profile
« on: May 26, 2010, 14:38 »
Hi,

I'm intrigued and puzzled by a color profile problem.
I work in photoshop CS4, color space adobe sRGB IEC1966- 2.1. Color profile embedded when saving.
Skin tones are perfect in photoshop, i do not push saturation etc, try to keep is natural as possible.
However after upload the images on-line appear to be pinkish... very unnatural skin tones. Below an example (screen captures with on the left how it appears online, on the right how it shows in photoshop)

Is there a setting i need to change to match the colors.?..

ps : i'm working on a HP LP2475 w s-ips screen calibrated on a weekly basis with the panthone Huey pro.

General Stock Discussion / EL licence and publications
« on: April 11, 2010, 02:05 »
I recently came across some images of mine on products, magazines and books....
Simple question before i start searching were the image was sold ...

- Does publication in a book requires an EL license ?
- Does publication in a magazine (Top Gear) requires an EL license ?
- Does the use of an image on a product requires an EL license ?

In case of publication, does the name of the photographer needs to be mentioned... or site image purchased.?.

What I do know is that none of the images were sold with an EL license.

General Stock Discussion / Categories
« on: February 22, 2010, 06:09 »
A recent discussion triggered my interest about categories.
Bigstock has the "Estimated guess".....

Who is actually checking those categories and correcting them if needed... just a simple yes or no.

Adobe Stock / Fotolia, new prices, the math.
« on: April 08, 2009, 06:13 »
A full month on Fotolia with the new prices, time to do some math.

Lets start with the division of the different  credits and how much they are represented  :

Februari            March            Result

1 credit :    18 %         19 %                    + 1 %
2 credit :     8 %         14 %                    + 6 %
3 credit :   17 %         13 % (4 credit now)      -  4 %
4 credit :   11%         12 % (5 credit now)      + 1 %
5 credit :   11 %           6  % (6 credit now)      -  5 %
Subscription :   35 %      36 %                    + 1 %

-   6 credit sales show a big decrease (former 5 credits);
-   5 credit sales stayed almost the same (former 4 credit);
-   4 credit sales also shows a clear drop (former 3 credit);
-   2 credit sales shows a significant increase;
-   1 credit sales, almost the same, slight increase;
-   Subscription sales a slight increase.

Return per image in :

-   February   0.915 $
-   March   0.825 $

There is a clear inclination towards smaller sizes and cheaper prices. As a result, march revenue is  about 10 % lower than February, despite march having about 11 % more image sales. I could deduct without  excess that there is a drop of 21 %.  So far Im not seeing the promised increase.  Selling more images should result in a clear increase, not what Im seeing now.

Sorry for the rickety layout, made it in office 2007 and just copied over here...

Adobe Stock / Refund... something strange.
« on: September 30, 2008, 09:53 »
Hi,

Today i started the day at  minus 1.85 dollar... obvious, again a refund.
Checked the other credit section, made a note of the day and hour and went to my portfolio to search for that XL sale ,,,,,refund.
Strangely enough i can't find it, even more strange, five day prior to and five day after that supposed sales i didn't have a single XL sale...

Hi,

I was wondering, before you calibrated your screen for the first time with the spyder colorpro... what color temperature did you set your screen on... 6500 or 9300 ...?..

A friend swears with 9300, i prefer 6500....

Adobe Stock / Credits not adding to total, again !!!
« on: June 19, 2008, 06:36 »
I have been complaining in the past about credits not adding for sales.  Always got some canned answer from admins.
Contacted Chad, no response... and today, again sales that are not added properly.
A 4 credit sale only added 1 credit.

What do we have to do so that fotolia finally will admit there is a problem.?...
Advice needed. I'm loosing money....

Off Topic / Dram in vista
« on: May 29, 2008, 10:52 »
Hi,

I recently installed an extra 2 gig ram module on the motherboard.  I'm running Windows Vista home premium.
The funny thing however is that when i go into configuration screen, system it seems vista only sees 3 gig or ram while i have two modules of 2 gig = 4 gig.

Is  there a way i can force vista to see the 4 gig.?.

Shutterstock.com / LCV is back.
« on: April 28, 2008, 05:52 »
Hi,

while nothing has changed to my shooting style, studio setup, lights, keywording, editing out of the dark got 9 out of batch of 15 and 8 out of batch of 10 rejected for : Composition--Limited commercial value due to framing, cropping, and/or composition.

Below some excamples from those approved on another site :

I'm puzzled... anyone else noticing same rejects lately.?.

General Stock Discussion / For non americans...:-)
« on: March 21, 2008, 04:45 »
Hi,

I was going over my spreadsheets from past and this year yesterday evening.
I couldn't go past the fact that lateley the value of our pictures devaluated by about 22 % compared to past year (around same period) mainly due to the increasingly dropping value of the dollar.

The fact that subscription sales on some sites where you can not opt out are increasing which also leads to lesser income per picture doesn't really contribute to the growth and our motivation.

With a portfolio growht with about 150 % over the year and just about an increase of income around 45 % i was wondering how much more we need to produce/upload to stay in the game, to keep it profitable for our time...?..

Any other thoughts.?..

Site Related / StockXpert nightmare
« on: January 06, 2008, 12:06 »
Hi,

This is a rant, a big rant.

Almost 70 % of about 200 of my latest batches rejected for :
Background not white
noise

checking in photoshop at 100 % magnification i can't see any noise.. and i mean NO noise.
We all know how picky SS is on noise issues... they haven't rejected a single one from those batches.
checking background color it shows perfect 255/255/255 white.

If they want me to take my business elsewere, than just say so... don't let me spend hours uploading for nothing.

Patrick.
