Not only is it easier than IS but the pay is better, sold one image with a $70.00 commission....

Last time I uploaded there key wording came in through he meta data and is mush easier than IS.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: How do I use FTP at IStock ?
« on: June 08, 2008, 10:44 »
This lack of FTP upload for images is the biggest reason IS is the last place we upload to.

Adobe Stock / Re: Fotolia subs...
« on: June 02, 2008, 06:47 »
Did you not notice that the commission on subs is below the .33 commission you get for an xs download....They need to offer an opt out of all as stockxpert does or they will lose their contributors.

Where the opt out all images like as Stockxpert.

The problem with iStock is the percentage period exclusive or not, 40% max. is insulting considering most other sites give a min. 33% and more at 50% and some %70%....

General Stock Discussion / Re: Stock Union
« on: March 08, 2008, 14:45 »
exactly, but if top non exclusive earners such as you, lisafx, would boycott new uploads then they may reconsider their position on non exclusive commissions and it may even benefit exclusive by having them finally give exclusive a 50/50 split regardless of level. Aside from their very restrictive exclusivity being all or nothing, not image exclusivity but artist, not even RM agencies require that. I feel if they reject an image then you should be free to upload it else where.

A union is a bit much but a boycott could work to get better commissions from those sites that only offer a very small 20% commission.

Personally I think it should be a 50/50 split or better as featurepics does.

If enough people stop uploading to those sites and post on their forums that a better commission is needed maybe we can make some changes.

iStock for one raises it's prices but not the commission percentage going to those who make it, the contributors and hide behind advertising cost, well I see plenty of Fotolia and stockxpert ads in the trades and they give us a better commission.

blind loyalty of iStock exclusive photographers disgusts me even more than Xsize prices.

If you keyword in ITPC data it will all transfer in and it is just a matter of going through the panel much easier than most of the micro sites.

General Stock Discussion / Re: iStock worth the bother?
« on: January 26, 2008, 22:14 »
Exclusivity at iStock just does not make any sense, we triple our income by being on the othersites which give a much better commission than iStock. Featurepices for one can earn us as much as iStock with a 5th of the downloads as iStock. Lets face it until iStock is willing to give a min. 50% commission why bother.....

New Sites - General / Re: Has anyone tried Photoshelter

That isn't in their user agreement, as far as I could read. They are non-exclusive. I will upload some selected shots on PSC that are on micro too, and then see. If they sell, I can always disable them on micro. Eggs and baskets.... After all, they are just beginning.
It may not be in thier user agreement but if you upload them as RM there could be other issue plus ethically it is just wrong to sell an image as both.

14
If your profile is different from other as you sales seems to suggest, perhaps you should try some agencies with different approch as Alamy, Featurepics or Photoshelter ? At least give them a try. As you seem to have already a huge porfolio, select 100 pictures for each and load them. What is you risk ?

You cannot upload images from microsites to Alamy or PSC as they are traditional stock sites with mostly RM images.

15
featurepics, featurepics 70% commission need I say more.

New Sites - General / Re: Has anyone tried Photoshelter

We have upload over 100 images to PSC and it is much better than IS by leaps and bounds IS has one of the worst upload systems.

They have several different categories that cover different styles and you can have some shot there that would be rejected from all the micros, just remember you cannot upload images to PSC that you have on microsites, PSC is traditional stock pricing, we use them and Alamy for our RM stock.

They are to new to have sales figures up and have just started advertising the site. The stat system is nice as you can see all the stats for your images.

17
We more than double our IS income by being on other sites StockXpert Fotolia SS.

18
From IS"The Contract does not require exclusivity for:
Rights-Managed images with other organizations"

This all or nothing is one of the biggest problem with IS exclusivity. Some of our biggest earners on other sites are rejections from IS.

Also to say you can't RM images they rejected just seems wrong, next they are going to want rights to your first born.

Have always opted out and will not upload to SS any new.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: New prices
« on: January 07, 2008, 14:59 »
istock now make $8.80 on those $2.20 sales for non-exclusives.  I do feel it is time they gave us a better share.

In order for that to happen they would first need to increase the share for exclusives.

But 60% for exclusives (diamond) and 40% for non-exclusives would be very nice.

How about a 50/50 split for all exclusives and use the system they have now for non exclusives based on the canister level.

Yuri, you don't have to join those site to sell your images at marco, just look into Photoshelter Collect, Alamy as the to best site, Photoshelter give a 70% commission and you can sell RF or RM images. Your work is better than microstock especially if you are producing expensive shoots.

22
Have you looked into photoshelter, alamy or myloupe for RM?

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Considering Closing Account in 2008
« on: January 05, 2008, 11:12 »
I agree that there split is pitiful a minimum 30/70 would be better considering that even with the price increase we still make more per image on most other sites. We have chosen not to upload any new work until split increases and an FTP upload system is in place.
