perhaps he got rude out of despair. It would appear he does not see any other choice and now watches how the contributors threaten to leave or leave already. This would ruin Shutterstock and he is well aware of that.
Yes, to me it seems he has already expected and accepted this. Else I cannot understand why he would speak to people that bring money to his table in this manner.

Yeah, it sucks for non-US contributors, but...it's the cost of doing business.
... the cost of doing business with US based companies. This offers a competitive advantage to non US companies operating in countries which have more sensibly structured tax infrastructure.
It is surprising that in a time of economic difficulties the US would not want to look again at this since it is basically a disincentive for people to operate out of the US. = less jobs ultimately.
Ultimately this could probably lead to some ss employees being fired as there will be a lot less images, accounts and customers to look after. This would be negative for USA gov in the end. If all american companies need to go through this, no selfemployed smalltime artists or businessmen will ever want to do business with american companies.

I have sold the rights to one of my images on dreamstime. I was shocked and I wasn't intending on it. I did get the full 350 but the hassle of removing the image from all other sites (especially crestock, it is STILL on there even though I hassle them with mails) is a drag. I always uncheck that option from now on.
The cash is nice but consider what an image is worth to you.

Having a lot of xmas images in my port, I can tell you they sell throughout the whole year but i can see a peak starting september to november. December they still sell but going downhill.
However, images for halloween for example won't really sell that well if you upload too soon. I'd say start with them about one month ahead.

When you right-click on the effect layer, you can create a layer from the effect and you can manipulate this layer in any way you want.. Hope this helps a little..

If you zoom one of the images, you'll find the fotolia watermark. The artists name is also mentioned and when you want to add a picture to your shoppingcart, you'll be linked to fotolia, so I guess the answer would be: Fotolia..

I've been making quite some money on the side, especially considering my rather small portfolio. SS had been the #1 income since I started and it still is.
Right now (after about a year of micro) I would not be able to make it my fulltime job but who knows what it is gonna be like after 2 or 3 years..
