Adobe Stock / Re: Important Fotolia Announcement
« on: November 05, 2018, 19:58 »
Apparently, I've been merged since last year and making sales - but when I signed in today - ALL of my files were rejected in Adobe. WTH?

Adobe Stock / 1099-Misc....Why?
« on: February 03, 2014, 18:12 »
I just received a 1099-Misc in the mail from Fotolia for a minuscule amount, which I earned, but have yet to receive. Can they do that? Hold your monies hostage, collect interest, claim its yours to Uncle Sam, but yet - "you" (me) can't touch it?  :o

In regards to Pocketstock - I got the same original email - they removed my RF's - I kept peeking in and this is what I found!

Yes, if you "switch off" the network all your outgoing links disappear

Ok...now I'm officially depressed. :/

6
Leo, I came off network in order to do some dusting and cleaning to the site and somehow - with the new updates - I lost my network connections :(    Is that normal?

I just realized my answer was a little off-topic!

YES - anything standard and machine readable / legally recognized is good. I really hope everyone gets involved to some degree, trying to find ways to get away from the RF thing entirely  - if Symbiostock could adopt a system that standardizes licensing and is of higher value to artist and customer - that would be great.

Like I said (in the post I deleted because it was too off-topic) just tell me the direction you'd like to take it and its like a new lego set to me :D I'll just get building. And who cares if your promoting a product! :D Promote away.

My personal hope is that Symbiostock sites can depart from the "cheap" and "free" competition and take on a culture of its own. I'm sure such things as above will factor in.

Leo, if you could install a drop down option that allows us to select which license is assigned to each image, I'll be in happy mode for a long time! Wait...no...maybe not THAT long, but I'd still be a happy camper.  ;D

Chico, with the new update to image upload and data (loads of "thank you's" to Leo), I may be able to go live very soon. Already uploading and processing! I'm already on the list - just need to update my numbers. I'll post update soon. *skips off all happy*

General - Stock Video / Re: Go Cam

Quick question :  Has anyone tried to use go cam footage for microstock?  Is it the right file type?

Thanks!

Go Cam? Or do you mean GoPro?

Symbiostock - Development Area / Re: Progress Report
« on: April 29, 2013, 17:19 »
I am at a screeching halt with uploads. No matter how I upload (including ftp) the system gives me the long winded error codes - no meta data - and will not process any of the images to draft. I even deleted all images from folder. Deleted and reloaded the Symbiostock theme and tried to load a mere 6 images. It won't load anything.

AND...

Have you already made me an admin account for your site? Set me up leo[at]clipartillustration.com ... if your on bluehost you should be fine, unless you've put in your watermark url wrong or something.

Now that you mention it.....I put my watermark url in, but it doesn't recognize it. Keeps reverting to "Symbiostock" watermark, even though the link is no longer there.

I have recently started experimenting with Easy Media Pro http://ghozylab.com to use with footage. I have the paid version, but they do have a "Lite" version. This may be an alternative answer to avoiding youtube for footage. :D

So just to update, this has changed.

In the symbiostock admin area, at the bottom, you can add your copyright info. But dragging text into the widgets still works the same for Footer Area 1, Footer Area 2 and Footer Area 3. (v1.2.9)

My footer shows this:
Copyright 2013    Stockwalkn, http://stockwalkn.com/stock   All Rights Reserved.

...but I want this:
Copyright 2013    http://stockwalkn.com   All Rights Reserved.

Any suggestions for someone NOT css or php savvy.

Selling Stock Direct / Re: US ITIN Number for selling direct
« on: April 12, 2013, 15:33 »
Ok, I saw what Thinkstock posted as well and I believe to the a nonresident alien. Or do I have that part wrong? I am not living in the US, nonresident, and I am not American, so Alien.

And yes, the ITIN, stands for Individual.

Edit: I missed what Aspp wrote, which does make sense now.

An Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (or ITIN) is a United States tax processing number. If you do not live in the US than you don't need it. Period. :)

Symbiostock - Hosting / Re: Several SymbioStock Sites Blocked
« on: April 12, 2013, 13:18 »
I'm thinking this has more to do with keywording and download options, than hosting...

This is off of Websense filter setup explanation page.

Block KeywordsWhen you define keywords and enable keyword blocking, users requesting a site whose URL contains a blocked keyword are not allowed to access the site. See Filtering based on keyword.

Block File TypesWhen file type blocking is enabled, users attempting to download a file whose type is blocked receive a block page, and the file is not downloaded. See Managing traffic based on file type.

Newbie Discussion / Newbies and Symbiostock

Just putting out a quick check for newbies setting up their own sites with the new Symbiostock?
Most of the "big boys" have found their inner circles - I'm just trying to find my own inner circle with those who sport small ports, but are serious about growing. ;)

Congratulations on your recovery, and on your shots.  Beautiful!  :D

Thanks. Still sore, just have to live with it and pop a few Aleve now and then.  Daniel, I've been diving since 1978 and became involved in marine biology as a research diver in the early 1980's.  Part of the job was photographic reconnaissance so I was somewhat forced to learn the basics.  But sometimes we had free time so I took the opportunity to use the company's camera system as my temporary toy.  I eventually got a couple of decent shots (by newbie standards) and got hooked.  One of the sr. scientists had a good buddy who was in the "diving industry", writing for magazines, speaking at travel expositions, etc.  I met him and we became good friends.  He sorta introduced me to the right people and I started also to write and speak and have since authored a book on diving.  I was a diving instructor for 20 years and have dived around the world photographing a lot of cool stuff.  Sometimes getting different stuff means being open to off-the-wall ideas.

For example, here is a shot I took of a very big barracuda.  During the morning in Honduras the dive group was boarding our boat to leave the docks to our dive site.  I saw this big barracuda swimming under our stilt lodge.  The water was green and dirty for sure.  I asked the divemaster if anyone had ever jumped in the water with it and he said since it has been hanging around for five years, nobody has dived with it.  So rather than dive with the group at some distant, pristine dive location, I stayed and gave up a day of diving to jump in the 10 feet of water at the lodge.  As soon as I jumped in it swam away, but territorial animals always come back, so I sat, and sat, and sat very quietly and motionlessly on the bottom.  After about 30 minutes I felt creeped out for some reason, so I slowly turned my head and that huge fish was inches from the back of my head.  I let it get used to me for several hours and after enough time with it, he felt comfy getting in front of my port.  Here, you can see the stilt pillars holding up the "over the water" lodge, framed by green water and big teeth.

Anyhow, enough.  I could go on forever.

When I first moved to Key West - diving near Barracuda was unnerving, to say the least, but eventually I began to stalk them! :)
I would much rather be faced with a small shark coming at me than a Barracuda. At least I can see the shark coming. LOL Cuda's are way to fast! Don't wear shiny things, as they will mistake you for food. LOL
