p5 now accepting photos, and you can set your own price!

Thats put a cat amongst the pidgeons!

didnt they partner with 123rf? if i have work on 123rf that is mirrored on p5 will that cause a conflict of interest??

I see my portfolio there even though I never uploaded anything. But there is no way to set your own price. My highest resolution images are being sold for $10.

Okay looks like I figured it out.......When editing set the price for for the image you uploaded (your max size), the system will automatically do the down sizing and pricing based on original image and price that was set once reviewed and accepted.....at least that is the way I interpret it.

Wonder how long it takes for 123RF to stop my images going to pond, I opted out yesterday but my port. still show at pond.

Do I have to re-apply as a photo submitter, currently a video submitter.

I did upload my port. I can find no where to set prices for photo or any kind of photo template.

They did have my port. from 123 but I deactivated partner distribution yesterday on 123RF

Thanks,
Don

How did you find these pics by searching on your name.
(By which I mean, how was your name picked up?)
Oh, or maybe the two I happened to click on weren't yours?

I have my name in the exif data under the copyright section and when I did my search google it showed 2 links with
(EXIF | Close-up Of Mexican Pork Carnitas | Flickr - Photo Sharing!) as the link title and the same for the other except different title. So I went to the link and it showed my image with all the EXIF data, thought maybe flickr was using it as an example for exif, clicked the image and ended up at the persons stream and found more of my images.

I am figuring they lifted them from my zenfolio site since the exif data was still on the image. I am assuming that shutterstock and the others strip alll data out of the image, I could be wrong here.

here is the link from google...
http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=%22lynn%20don%20bendickson%22&source=web&cd=1&sqi=2&ved=0CB8QFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.flickr.com%2Fphotos%2F64445673%40N06%2F6159941104%2Fmeta%2F&ei=m3j-ToStGaPKiQKB4PnvDg&usg=AFQjCNGVvIwjIxpIxxoXFn6lJTBAKlk1Lw&sig2=QP4CAF-7QZx7WwDHZqv8MA&cad=rja

when you click on the link you end up at flickr and you see exif data on the right with all my copyright info. click the image and you go to the persons stream.

Thanks for the explanation. It's just that I have my name in all my EXIF files in the copyright section, and I can't find any of my own pics in Flickr by Googling my name. After c15 pages (it's an unusual name, but there are two prominent people who share it!) I gave up and tried "my name" Flickr and couldn't find any of my pics that way either, only links to my contacts' pages. I must be doing something wrong!

Hi Sue

I also have always had the copyright info in my files but this is the 1st time I have found them via the EXIF  data.......It may be because I have my portfolio at my Zenfolio acct. and the EXIF data is intact there and the stock agencies most likely strip out that data. Also when I do a google search I put my name in quotes and also search different variations....first name, last name - middle name, last name - first, middle and last.....unfortunately at some agencies I used different variations of my name as I explained for my google search.

Well I am off to the higher elevations of the Sierra's with my dog in search some excellent still and video shots...learning to use my Nikon D7000 that I bought for video and my new Glidecam HD 1000 stabilizer and never without my trusty D700 for the stills.

I went and posted a few comments on my images at both streams like......."What camera did you use to capture this image with " on another "Nice image, did you take this photo"............see what kind of response I get.

I do a google search on my name very month or so and today I came up with 2 different users with my pics in their Flickr stream. One of them has over 1000 images with many that I checked using google image search belong to lots of different photographers at shutterstock, 123rf and so on.......the other guy only has a little over 50 with 6 of them being mine.

You may want to see if any of yours are there...........I'll be sending a copyright notice to yahoo (flickr).

My Geometr GPS unit for my D700. Comes in handy when doing image tagging, I can use the info tagged on the image in Google Earth so I can get the correct names of the surrounding land features on my landscape type shots. Also great just look at where you were for the shoot via the satellite image.

-Don

That does sound useful.  Is it an add on or standard equipment?

Hi Warren,

Its an add-on and has worked really well..........here is a link to Amazon so you check the specs if you like.
http://www.amazon.com/Geometr-Receiver-Nikon-Realtime-Geotag/dp/B0019T236A

It plugs into the ten pin port and comes with an adapter that slides into the hot shoe w/velcro on top and on the back of the GPS unit and sticks on there. Powers up and aquires a signal fairly quick.

Regards,
Don

You can also see your current GPS location and altitude via a menu option on the D700

This person has been very busy.......

Just on page 1 I can identify 10 of the images to ten different artists on Dreamstime.

I use Pic Scout Image Exchange and their little blue icon is on the corner of each of the images and takes me straight the image on Dreamstime.

Pages 1 thru 6 have images from many different artists at Dreamstime.

Tried to enroll yesterday but I never received activation email. Is there a way to resend it?

I had the same problem.......timed out.

I had to do it all over again but this time  I had an additional browser window open and just hit the refresh button about every minute minute or so while filled out my application.

Submitted application and got the confirmation message.

I use iTag....

Sets keywords, description and Title on one or multiple images at the same time.

Builds a keyword library automatically as you enter the keywords for the images, omits entered keyword if already in the library.......you can also build keyword strings and store them, example: "young Asian women" "winter landscape".

I used to use irfanview but when you can do multiple images at the same time productivity is greatly increased and its a free application,no ad's and no restrictions.

Which is better Tamron or Sigma? I know Nikon is best and the two lens I do have are Nikon, but the price for a Nikor lens 24-70 and the 70-200 are a big price tag, so which would be the better alternate?

I can't speak for the Tamron but I use the Sigma 24-70 2.8 on my Nikon D700 and really like the versatility of it.

I do mostly studio food and landscapes and the lens is a bit large and heavy but in my opinion its a great lens for the price ($569 USD for the Nikon Mount),  90% of my portfolio was shot with this lens.
I also used the same lens on my Pentax K10D prior to the Nikon.

I just got the Sigma 150mm F2.8 APO Macro DG ($729 USD) last month and this is another of Sigma's very good lenes.......Both of these lenses have outstanding quality for the price on both the build and output quality.
