Pond5 / Re: Review time for photos?
« on: October 31, 2012, 10:52 »
They finally reviewed my first batch of images there (no releases) after they had been in the pending queue for almost two months!  I had almost given up on ever seeing them online at Pond5.  I did send a message to support after about a month, but even though I did get a reply that they would look into it, the images did not appear online until last week.  I mean, come on, almost two months... :o

Veer / Re: Your Veer portfolio on Alamy
« on: June 11, 2012, 04:15 »
I emailed support last week and stated that I wanted my images removed from Alamy, quoting the last post by Brian on MSG.  I also mentioned that, if the only way to do that would be to close my account, that's what I would do.  Still waiting for a reply...  They definitely do not appear to be taking this seriously.  I know I am only a very small contributor, especially compared to people like RT.  But it's also a matter of principles.

Yes, they are still adding Veer content to Alamy.  I see more and more of my Veer images on Alamy, including duplicates.  I am now seriously considering pulling the plug on Veer.

Nikon / Re: Nikon RAW problem.Urgent help please!!
« on: December 10, 2011, 06:59 »
As some others mentioned before, it looks like the RAW data is corrupt, even though the jpeg preview is okay.  The jpeg preview is also what your camera uses to show a preview of the photo on the back of your camera.  So that explains why it looks okay on camera.  Do you shoot just RAW, or do you let your camera save a small / medium / large jpeg along with the RAW version of the image?

I'm a Canon user and don't know what Nikon's options are.  But I would expect them to offer similar functionality.  If you chose that option, you might still have a decent jpeg file?

Now I can't see my stats at all, because I get a server not found error message right after entering the captcha: Firefox can't find the server at www.123rf.comlogin.php.

I tried several times...

CanStockPhoto.com / Re: Review times indicator way off?
« on: October 03, 2011, 04:17 »
Apparently, they were having an issue with the introduction of some new code.  I received an email that my files were corrupt, but later I received another message telling me that was a glitch and my files temporarily got lost in the system.  I was able to resubmit the files today (they were still there, I just had to click the button to submit them for review), and they were reviewed within the time limit indicated on the home page.

Although, of course, any glitch is inconvenient, these things happen and I was happy with their communication about the issue.

Hmmm... mine don't even have (or need) releases, so that shouldn't be the problem.  Still good to know, though.

123RF / Re: 123RF Top Tier - Big 5?
« on: October 01, 2011, 06:08 »
Personally, I think 123RF deserves to be up there.  I have a small port on all of the sites that are currently in the top 6, and 123RF is my #3 best selling site.  I do add as many faves as the number of images in my port allows me to.  I leave some of them there all the time, and I rotate some to see how they do, sometimes also depending on the season...

CanStockPhoto.com / Review times indicator way off?
« on: October 01, 2011, 05:55 »
Hi everyone,

I was wondering, is it just me, or is the review times indicator on CanStock's homepage way off?  For instance, I uploaded some files last night and, at the time, it said review time was about 4 minutes.  Currently, it says 33 minutes.  The batch I uploaded last night (about 16 hours ago) is still in the pending queue.  I have similar experiences with other batches.

I am not really complaining about the review times as such, since CanStock is usually still fast compared to other sites.  It's just that, when a site makes a big deal about displaying current review times, it is pretty annoying when they do not appear to make sense.  If you it's not possible to predict review times reliably (or at least within a small margin), then I think it would be better to not show anything at all.  If you can't deliver what you are promising, so to speak, it gets to be a little frustrating.

Anyway, just curious if I am the only one experiencing this and, if not, how other people feel about this.  In general, I like CanStock and I would like to see it do well.  So this bugs me a bit...

iStockPhoto.com / IS Upload Problems
« on: May 10, 2011, 16:59 »
Hi everyone,

Just checking: am I the only one who is experiencing upload problems at IS?  I just tried to upload an illustration.  The upload process starts as usual.  However, at the point where you normally get to see the screen on which to indicate that you are the copyright owner, etc. I see nothing.  When I go to Upload again, I can see the file sitting there, unfinished.  When I try to edit it, I get an HTTP 500 Internal Server error, which normally means something went wrong on the server.

I tried one more time.  Now both (duplicate) files are sitting there, waiting to be edited.  But I can't proceed.

I hope this will be fixed soon so I can submit my file.  I will have to figure out a way to delete the duplicate, but I think there is an option for that on the edit page

Veer / Re: Disappearing payments at Veer ?
« on: May 10, 2011, 09:20 »
I didn't have any pending payments.  However, past payment information is gone.  Balance is still there and correct.  So no urgent problems for me personally, but there definitely seem to be problems with payment information.

Uh oh, looks like Atilla might be back.  I'm only a small contributor but used to have a fairly good acceptance rate at Shutterstock.  Istock was okay, but rejected more than Shutterstock.  Lately, it has been the complete reverse.  Istock has been accepting nearly all my photos, and Shutterstock gives me mass rejections.

As some of the others have reported in this thread, Shutterstock does not seem to have a clue when it comes to nature photography.  I just had another 100% rejection on a batch of 8 images, most of them because of white balance (late afternoon) or lcv due to composition.

These days, I have no idea what they want.  I get the feeling that all they want is people and studio (product) shots?

I think my lowest sale was around 0.12 for a small file.  :(  Not too many of those, fortunately!

I don't know about initial review times, but it took them about 18-20 days to review my last batch of illustrations.

I noticed the same thing last night.  I wonder if it could have something to do with the upload limit glitch reported in another thread.  Maybe they were completely flooded with images.

Unfortunately, even emptying the cache and reloading did not do the trick for me.  But my images are back now, so it must be some sort of glitch in their system.

Thanks for letting me know.  If you have a large portfolio, you might not even notice.  But in my case, it's all the more obvious. :)

Hey everyone, I know I am just a small contributor but I thought this would be of interest to some of you, and MAY be related to the problems reported in this thread.  I just created a support ticket because I am experiencing problems with some of my images.

When I looked at my files today, I noticed that some of them are suddenly "missing".  The descriptions are there, but not the images.  In the Details list, everything looks normal except the little thumbnails for those images.  I see dashes instead.

In addition, when I click the Edit link for those images, I get the edit window where I can change the description, etc., but the images themselves are not shown.

Some of the thumbnails do show up in my portfolio, others don't.  However, when I click them, all I see is an empty page.  No image, no descriptions, nothing.

At least 4 images are affected by this and, unfortunately for me, one is my second best seller.

Regards,
Inge

Thanks for letting me know.  If that is still the case, then mine could be reviewed any day now.

I like Veer and its upload process, but the review times have been keeping me from submitting there for quite some time.

Hi everyone,

I was wondering what the current review times at Veer are?  I uploaded some new vector illustrations over two weeks ago, and was hoping that review times were better now.  But since it's been more than 2 weeks, I am starting to get the feeling this might not be the case...

Albumo.com / Re: Albumo rise from the dead
« on: March 31, 2011, 01:58 »
One thing has definitely changed since the old albumo, at least for me.  Yesterday I sent a request (using Contact Us) to take my images offline and to delete my account.  It took them less than 24 hours to do so.  And I got a confirmation email from them as well.  I remember contacting the old albumo a long time ago, and never hearing from them.

So even though I no longer want to sell my images through that channel, I think they do deserve a thumbs up for the quick response.

Off Topic / Re: What is this stuff?

I still shoot film every now and then, though not for stock.  Mostly black and white, sometimes color.  And when I am in an artistic mood, I sometimes load a roll of slide film and have it cross processed.  With cross processing, "life is like a box of chocolates, you never know whatcha gonna get." :)
