Computer Hardware / Re: Online storage - does anyone use one?
« on: March 13, 2010, 08:47 »
http://www.backblaze.com/

I do not use it but I heard very good reviews on them. It's 5$ a month by computer.

I use Backblaze and am very happy with it.

I think this new system is much better. If nothing else it will result in everyone reporting consistently based on concrete numbers rather than opinion/perception.

Well I still can't sign in, but I did finally get a reply to my email saying "Payments should be issued this week if it is not already done." Fingers crossed.

Adobe Stock / Re: Increase in Credit Value at Fotolia?
« on: February 01, 2010, 22:28 »
This where I jump in and tell everyone they should delete their portfolio at Fololia. I did a while back and don't regret it at all. Sure I lose income but...
I also have no regrets that I deleted my portfolio at FT. Not only did their management practices annoy me (understatement), but FT was also one of my lowest performing sites... rarely earning more than BigStock.

I just noticed the same thing and came here hoping someone knew the answer. I also tried sending them a dm via twitter but the dm wouldn't go through. hmmm.

Well this certainly helps me to finalize my decision whether to drop them... I've been debating it for a long time. Then sales finally started to pick up and I thought I'd hold out a bit longer... so much for that; I don't need need to contribute to agencies that treat people this way...

Canon / Re: 300mm f/4 IS vs 400mm f/5.6
« on: September 02, 2009, 19:06 »
How about... EF 200mm f/2.8 L? With a 1.4x or 2x TC? Anyone got any shots with this?
I have this lens and it is a real treat. I bought it to photograph a water-skiing event that was being held nearby. Fast focus, super sharp, with great colour and contrast. Haven't tried it with a TC but heard it takes to the 1.4x very well.

I purchased a legal copy of Illustrator CS3 from Ebay. You must be sure that you can get the license transfer through Adobe.

Off Topic / Re: How Long Is Your Commute To Work?
« on: May 22, 2009, 10:31 »
It's about 2 and a half hours for the round trip (much of which is spent in traffic congestion trying to cross the bridge). Thank goodness I don't have to work in the office every day!

Do you mean in the image for the lightbox?  I have to put the images in there. I will do I after there is a few images in the lightbox to pick from
yes, that's what I meant. thanks for the explanation...makes sense now.

why am I just seeing coloured boxes instead of images in these lightboxes? will the images populate at a later date?

Not to hijack this thread but I just got my first EL at FT.... a whopping $6.60 I earned? I'm feeling nauseous over this... please tell me this isn't a correct amount?  :o
That is exactly why I do not make any of my images available for EL on FT... I think the amount they pay for them (at the bottom earnings level, which is what I'm at because my sales there suck compared to every other site) is insulting.

Canon / Re: Best price you have seen for a Canon lens
« on: September 30, 2008, 08:12 »
There's one currently listed in the used department of B&H for $929. It will likely be a refurbished one, as they do come up periodically. I bought one from there and it was in perfect condition. I am really happy with this lens.
