One thing I thought was a bit sneaky if you select to order a popular search by downloads and click on the first image or any image.

It just tells you how many views not how many downloads (unlike FT, DT or BS would). So its impossible to see how many sales there actually are.

I hope they don't blow all their start up cash attracting suppliers and not have anything left for advertising to attract buyers.

Dreamstime.com / Re: More than usual rejections from Dreamtime
« on: September 25, 2009, 15:33 »
Just checked Oct'08 my acceptance rate was 87% then was a gradual decline over the months until March'09 when I was at a fairly respectable 70% but since April'08 I have been hovering around 40%.

For quite some time I have submitted just one image from a series at a time so all the images in a batch are different. This is acceptable to all the other major sites but DT have a rejection frenzy, over the last month I have entire batches rejected.

Its a 50/50 split so less sales for me means less sales for them as well.

Has anybody notices a difference in sales volume at FP since the big price change?

Mine (which weren't great there) have dropped to zero since the switch.

5
Just checked one of the rejected illustrations the illustration is 1600 x 1600 pixels and the page size is 1600 x 1600, so no overhanging bits there  ???

Has anyone else been having vector illustrations rejected for the following reason at Shutterstock

Quote
Please decrease the size of your artwork (or move it) to fit within the artboard.

Do they really want a border around all illustrations? or is it just one of those blanket rejection reasons.

I thought Big Stock photo awarded you $5 when a referred contributor had 75 images accepted, which is different from other sites than give referral earnings based on sales not reaching a portfolio size.

Alamy.com / Re: Alamy Subs
« on: March 19, 2009, 16:01 »
I just checked over the years I have had 67 sales at Alamy and only one was to a Newspaper. Mostly travel guides and school text books.

I suppose if they only allow subs to certain buyers such as Newspapers, it might not be too bad.

But as Dr Egon Spengler in Ghostbsuter said "print is Dead" back in 1984 books have a few more years in them but I think printed Newspapers are dying breed such as the Seattle Post-Intelligencer halts its print edition after 146 years

Adobe Stock / Re: Fotolia Question
« on: March 14, 2009, 17:29 »
As far as I know No to both questions, both deletion or making them free require the photographer to do something.

There is an unsold tab where you can see and "sell" 24+ month old unsold photos for 50c but to delete them you would have to search through all your files.

Nice graphs!

Glad to see after spending so long uploading HD clips, they are buying HD clips not just lots of small web size ones

A couple of questions

Did you submit videos to StockXpert? if so did you ever sell any?

Did you submit Video to Fotolia? Did you ever have any reviewed?

I wonder if Fotolia are going to implement the contributor percentage reduction to video submitters as well?

(Sorry to Peter not checking the boards thoroughly before starting a new thread)

A pity they didn't include a delete option for spring cleaning.

Or a direct way to reshuffle your keywords just in case that was the reason why it hadn't sold.

Interesting to see images that have been forgotten and the quality of images accepted over two years ago.

I had heard before about refreshing your back ups ie copying CDs/DVDs/HDs onto fresh media every few years (Just bought a 1 TB today to back up my back ups).

Just shows how fragile our technology is, compared to old skool carving things in stone. Not sure how many stone tablets I would need to carve out 1 TB in binary on stone tablets not to mention how many eons it would take to carve.

Canon / Re: Lens recommendations for a new Canon user
« on: December 25, 2008, 05:35 »
Just saw the Canon 70-200 F4 USM L (WITHOUT IS) on sale from the review in phonezone (linked above) I see that it doesn't have water/dust protection either, is it worth considering or fairly pointless without IS??

I don't know how many of you saw this on the SS forums one contributor bragging about how sucessful he was only to have other contributors spot some of his portfolio wasn't actually his, his account has been deleted now

scroll down to the first post by paulprescott

The first part is quite boring

one credit used to to equal 57p at FT now it equals 60p (UK) I presume they changed the price in the euroland as well it should be visible in the grey box above your ranking.

I noticed that as well logging on with firefox 3.0 if you override the Invalid security certificate warning you can still log on see your files.

Supposedly it expired yesterday.

Illustration - General / Re: Shutterstock rejection no bitmaps

Thanks stormchaser for answering my question. I guess I have to start saving my pennies for illustrator or avoiding gradients.

Inkscape only has one eps export setting, they render to JPEG fine but I don't have illustrator to check if they are edittable.

Illustration - General / Shutterstock rejection no bitmaps
« on: October 14, 2008, 04:26 »
Hi,

I just had a batch of illustrations rejected at Shutterstock for the following reason.

"No Bitmaps--Bitmap images are not permitted--please see the forum"

I couldn't find any obvious answers at the Shutterstock forum so I came here.

I had saved them as eps files (from Inkscape) and they had colour gradients in them (but NO opacity or blurs). However I have had quite a few batches with similar effects accepted without any problems at Shutterstock and Dreamstime.

Anyone got any ideas.

Thanx

I am not talking about high resolution flat scans but images where only part of the note is visible or the perspective has been changed.

I know British currency is not allowed as it has a copyright symbol on the actual banknote.

what about other major currencies euro? US$? Yen?

Thanx
