DepositPhotos / Re: Returned Sales !!

" don't see any purchases of those particular files for this month yet alone 210 dollars wort"

I hope they give you a very clear record of this! Maybe they stopped the sales from  posting  to your account, either way that's a lot and I'd be on it like stink on a monkey ;)

Please do keep us posted, wish you the best.

I got the same answer like everybody else. It was a stolen credit etc. Case closed. Looking at my account I have over 100 returns in total so far.
Unless Depositphotos changes something we have two choices. 1) Accept their excuses or 2) delete the portfolio.

I'm tempted by the A7r to use with my Canon lenses but the bit about some of the adapters not being up to the job puts me off.  I'll wait and see if that gets sorted out.

I love the NEX6 and probably buy another body. Just like you I will hold off on the new E-mount full frame systems.

3
I use several different brand lenses on my Sony A77 and Nex6.

From what I have read (Sonyalpharumors) the new A7 and A7r have some lens vibration problems.
Not a show stopper and will probably be corrected but just heads up.

Just beautiful. This lady has talent!!

Just wanted to post a follow up. Just as Ed wrote the FBI has sent out a warning in regards to the Target fiasco.

This isn't specific to one agent...it's a part of the business and unfortunately, part of the times.

Fotolibra even blogged about it a couple of years ago....here's the scam and here's how it works...

http://blog.fotolibra.com/?p=727

This is something that has happened at the micros over and over and over again...the difference is the dollar amount involved.

I wouldn't be surprised if image libraries are seeing charges from credit card numbers that were recently stolen from Target - you should see those refunds coming through in late February or March.

Thank you for posting this blog post. I was just talking to a good friend of mine about exactly this. The charge back/return doesn't bother me what bothers me is that they have my photos/videos and probably will resell them on some sort of forum as a package with thousands of other stolen images/videos.

Just had a refund tonight! The customer purchased the image on November 12, 2013 and returned it on January 15, 2014. Than they repurchased it again thus get another free 30 plus days before they have to return which I am sure they will do!

Here is the email I fired off to them tonight- My blood pressure it through the sky right now. Had it with there LAME REFUND POLICY!  >:(

"The image purchase on the 12th of November of 2013 and refunded on January 15, 2014. First of all why the refund after it has passed the 30 day requirement.  Than it looks like you allowed the customer to keep it again for another 30 days? Please explain to me in great detail since this is totally unacceptable! "

I posted this in another post early today. I hope this will make you feel a bit better. Depositphoto refunded more than $210 this morning. You are not alone and I know how it feels. It's sad but we have to accept it. That's just the game we play in.

well is there anybody else who has tried stockeon?

BTW the video portfolio of 240 files is online since early April on 123rf and gained 40 $ in the first month, and just made the 115 $ benchmark for June alone...Stockeon just sold two more files yesterday and has reached 165 $...for it's first month that's great...still little compared to what Shutterstock and Pond5 return (also online since April)...
but hey...if you got your portfolio organized the upload of 240 files took me just two days, that's already with let's say 8h per day 10 $ per hour return...to be continued

Uploaded some and review is fast. I do good on other sites but I haven't had a single sale yet, yet alone views on my animations/videos. Will hold off until I see some movement.

210 dollars in returned sales today. I'm almost got a heart attack. This doesn't happen at any other agency. I would thing they have a serious problem in Credit Card Authorization.
It happens at iStock and Alamy, but I do sympathise - it's horrible when this happens.

Sorry for the spelling mistakes. I was so upset and it wouldn't let me correct it after I posted.

Whats interesting to me is, I don't see any purchases of those particular files for this month yet alone 210 dollars worth in one day alone. Depositphotos was always good in corresponding but lately I just get the same answer. It was fraud and that's that.

I'm with 32 agencies and I get very few returned sales. Something has to be wrong with Depositphotos authorization system. It's frustrating that we as Contributors have to suffer. < / rant over >

No, you are not missing something. I could be wrong but since you experience is similar to mine I came to the conclusion they just don't have the audience yet.
I do sell a few but it's just a small drop in the bucket compared to other sites.

Symbiostock - General / Re: Video Plugin
« on: August 25, 2013, 18:34 »
Video is quite advanced and uses a whole different set of technologies. Especially if your thinking of uploading a video and watching it reprocesses to several different styles and such. VERY complex.

On the other hand, if you did not mind doing your own adjustments, it could be implemented. At this time I'm thinking a little ahead and your problem may be covered eventually.

Ahh I see what you mean. The problem might actually be the reprocessing of the preview.

I don't know if this has been asked already. Is there a video plugin available for Symbiostock?

Thank you

They contacted me as well. Offered a 5 digit number for my portfolio. It all sounded nice and all but after reading through their website I'm glad i didn't.

Cameras / Lenses / Re: Anybody using the Sony a77?
« on: August 04, 2013, 17:31 »
I made the plunge and got myself an A77. Couldn't be happier at the moment. The kit cost me $898.00 at Adorama, which included the body, extra battery grip, cleaning kit, UV filter, battery and 32gb card. I paid an additional $48 and got the 75-300mm Sony lens. Additionally I got the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8. Great lens.

In terms of noise, well it depends what you are shooting. Even though it's true the A77 is a bit noisier in the upper ISO's I think people exaggerate a bit.
The reason I stayed with Sony was the availability of cheap Minolta lenses. Amazing colors.

The prices of the A77 came down considerably and it was perfect timing. Try one and see if you like it.

I think the only insult was your suggestion that we're all freeloaders taking and not giving back without taking a real look at what's been done, by whom and for how long.

Your suggestion for a commission based system is fine and you'll have some followers to that model. I have no doubt someone will build exactly that as an option down the road if it makes sense for them to do so.

I should have worded differently and I did apologize.

22
I think it is a healthy discussion.  Again if somebody feels insulted by my comments, I do apologies.

Again, it was merely an idea. I'm willing to either pay a small commission or donate to the cause. I takes money to make money.

If that doesn't sit well with people, I guess it wasn't a good Idea and I can accept that.

I know exactly how much goes into developing because its my day job. With all due respect to Leo and others, they took the project on voluntarily. They are reaping seo rewards and with paid plugins, upgrades and whatever else anyone comes up with, they will be compensated. They did so, offering this initial open source idea, for free. Some of us have helped being beta testers. No one on either side expected compensation in the beginning.

I have plans to donate to leo, buy plugins, etc. and help others by buying those things that i think necessary and helpful. i wont ever agree to anyone taking a commission from the sale of my photos.

I am not upset and you are entitled to your opinion, but i think its kind of insulting for you to say we have no idea. Most of worked days and days to get our site up and working correctly. Everybody is busy, everybody needs money...thats why i (we?) started this project to begin with.

There is no symbiostock to decide anything...theres me, theres you, and theres anyone else who chooses to build a SY site. We are all independent.

By the way, leo accepts donations. You dont have to just say thank you and you dont have to agree to a commission. If you want, thats your business, but there are other ways to show appreciation.

I'm sorry if you get insulted but I didn't reply to you. Regardless, my apologies to the people who know how much work goes into software development.

I offered to donate yesterday in a different thread. Obviously if the majority of the people doesn't like the idea of commission. Well, it won't get implemented.

It was merely an idea to compensate the developers. Obviously, from what I can see people like to take but don't want to give back. Again, my apologies to the people who did, including you cclapper.

Its open source, what can I do about it? Ive spent some money on plugins.

But I'll butt out indefinitely now. That last comment kind of upset me even more.

I did software development in the past, obviously you don't have an idea how much time and effort goes into developing such system. I would gladly pay a small commission to Leo and the crew if the sale generates from their "Central Hub". This would be a small price to pay to show some appreciation instead of just saying thank you which won't pay the rent.

This was just an idea and nothing to be upset about. Ultimately Symbiostock will decide how it should be.
