Cutcaster / Re: How to contact Cutcaster?
« on: January 04, 2016, 13:38 »
Thanks! It was a really good advice. John responded quickly.
For some reason their public emails don't work. Or maybe it's my ISP spam filter.
But everything is settled now.

I try to get my images deleted and close my account on Cutcaster, but they don't respond my emails.
Does anybody have an idea, how to contact them?

Whatever happened to PicturEngine?
They are doing great.

Funny how they all have dips and peaks around the same spots.
Dips - we call them weekends. ;)

You heard well. They are not super high quality lens, but they are better than kit lens of Canon.
If you are planning to buy wide angle lens one day it's better to buy 28-75mm, since it's good for everyday use, for portraits, landscapes, outdoor.
If you are not planning to buy wide angle lens in the near future, 17-50mm might be better.  With 28-75mm you might start to miss wider angle while trying to shoot interior or large groups.

I just want to inject a bit of reality here.
Yes, the action - blogs, tweets, articles about D-Day, draw the attention, not the image drop itself. But the power of cooperation, voice of contributors. We are not silent lambs.

Most customers tend to stick to one agency. Price of images are so low anyway, it doesn't worth it to go and surf and waste your time to get a pic few dollars cheaper. Mass buyers have subscriptions, so they also tend to stick with subscription agency.

General Stock Discussion / Re: New site or another scam?
« on: January 23, 2013, 09:30 »
Here's a recent thread on them. I stand by my comment in that thread.

I second on that. These bright marketers sent out spam email where they exposed hundreds of photographers email addresses. Nice. And did it from a fake spamming account. Thank you for sending spammers on my way. I'm really grateful. That's not the way how serious agencies make business. If they don't manage to handle their correspondence how would they manage to handle and protect our digital files? These guys have no glue what they are doing. And if they know exactly what they are doing then it's better to stay away from them.

...Can't remove my Photo+ collection images right away, ...
You can disable Photo+ images at any time. The 6 month lock is only to prevent movement back to the main collection. It's not like DT's 6 month hold which really means you can't delete them for that time.
Thank you! I guess I misunderstood it. that's great. Let's see what will happen on Feb 2.
Good luck everybody!

EDIT: I did it today - disabled 100 images from my portfolio. I will keep 29 images for promotional purposes.

I'm joining this cheerful crowd for justice sake.
Can't remove my Photo+ collection images right away, but spread the news and do what I can on Feb 2, 2013.

There won't be a wake up call for the agencies unless someone makes a site where all artists can submit "their sites" and integrate it in the search so it functions as a huge stock photo search engine that when you click on a photo, you are redirected to that artist's website..

This site would have to be free to be any different from the agencies.. In fact this site must be built by us, contributors and when popular enough it will destroy the middle man..

Everybody will earn as much as their own potential and there will be no fees... artists will only pay an annual amount so the website can survive.. nothing more.. the more artists there are, the less fee to be paid.. probably only as much as pennies and cents :)

Something along with that concept exists already. It's http://www.picturengine.com.
Or if you want to build your own site then check out Gumroad: https://gumroad.com/faq
Building a great search engine is challenging, but not impossible. ;)

Until then I'm really happy joining new innovative agencies.  :)

Hey, Zsolt! Thanks for introducing your site!
Would it be possible NOT to receive an email when image is accepted?
I hate to receive lots of emails. I check my portfolios on stock sites quite often, so there's actually no need for a reminder when image is accepted. Some users might like it, but I guess not those who submit to several sites.
Would it be possible to add an option to switch off acceptance emails?
Thanks!

I thought 30% is for Pantermedia partnerprogram.
Selecting 50% doesn't mean you would be exclusive to Pantermedia.
I might be wrong.

Reminds me of when I was reviewing and someone submitted a photo of black.  That's it.  Just black.  Keyworded and described as a conceptual image.   ::)

Was it "blacker than all the others"? I hope you rejected it for "white balance".  ha

LOL Reminds me that I saw somewhere a totally white conceptual image. I guess it's white balance was correct. :D

For me that stats says that - the rumors of microstock's death have been greatly exaggerated. We are doing good. Agencies are doing good.
Or how to interpret microstock poll results? More people have started microstock business? Is it Earnings Rating per user or just total? How to interpret it?

Just sayin'.
Don't you love it?

Cameras / Lenses / Re: Cameras are too good!??

I think it's great. :) It's for the kids and helps them to retain their and keep alive creativity and have fun with photography.
But it's true - as long they don't try to print them out large. I think this would be important to teach to kids that different tools have different purpose. Like you can't screw in the screw with your hammer, your need a screwdriver. If you are very skillful then technically you could manage to do it, but the results are not nice and they don't last. The same is taking pictures with your smartphone for prints.
But using different gadgets to show your creativity to your pals, it's just fun, I think. :D Duh, and why not for adults as well.

I thought 300,000 are those who have passed the test and have at least one image online. Newer thought these could be only registered. Is it true?

« on: November 04, 2011, 16:18 »
Hey,
I know there are couple of super sellers on Shutterstock who sell hundreds of images per day, but what do you think (or maybe somebody has some inside information? ;) ) how many % of all artists would sell about 100 images per day? There are over 300 000 photographers, and majority of them have small portfolios, so that number can't be very big, but how big?
What would be your estimated guess?

I'm getting
"Upload Stopped. Sorry to inform that uploads will be temporarily stopped to facilitate a scheduled maintenance of our storage system."
when I try to process the files I uploaded via FTP.

Same here. :(
Hope it will get fixed soon.

Ouch.. After several trials and errors I finally managed to link my portfolio. There are several numbers you might think to use, only one work as intended.

So you have to look the line http://www.cutcaster.com/search/portfolio/xxxxxxxxx/ on your CC referral page like John said.
That last xxxxxxxxx is the number you should insert on your MSG profile field, not your code (actually it is you code, but only the last part of it) and not the number in URL that appears on your browser's address bar.

That URL confused me because it will change when you paste it in address bar and hit Enter.
Hope this helps someone as stupid as me. ;)
