Yaymicro / Yay Micro Payment Issues???
« on: December 02, 2018, 18:25 »
Has anyone had issues with getting paid from Yay Micro?  I just tried to cash out this year and didn't check on it for a while and noticed it is in an error...whatever that means.  If you have or have not gotten paid let me know as I found this very odd.  I have contacted their support via email.

This is the message I see for my account:

I understand the graphs are not working and showing earnings anymore, but I can't seem to find anyplace in my account settings that shows my current balance.  That is kind of concerning as I have no clue how much cash iStock is holding.  Anyone know if they said a date when these changes will be done?

I guess this is how they are going to pay that 1 billion dollar lawsuit.  Well I stopped uploading a while ago because their painful key wording tool was not worth the $0.28 sub sales...now with $0.02 I don't know why someone would even bother with them.  I will leave the last 218 photo's just to see how common $0.02 sales are.

What is the current timeline for reviews? The email says, "editing time is currently around 5 working days." but that is clearly not the case. I'm at 2 weeks at this point. I'd like to understand the acceptance process, etc., before I spend much more time on it.

For me I uploaded my 20 test batch and it took about 3 days for them to get in the pending box to submit them.  After that it took about 3 to 4 weeks before they approved some of the images and kicked about half back for property releases.  I think its taking a long time sense they might be getting a lot of new people joining with large portfolio's.

However Photo Dune is always in my top 5 and does better then iStock.
[OT] That was so surprising, I had a look at your iStock port. Can I say that at iStock the title and description aren't searchable? For instance, you've got this nice photo of Santa Mara della Salute #14209310, and I was surprised to see it had no dls. It turns out you haven't got "Santa Maria della Salute" which is in the CV in the keywords, so if someone wants a photo of that church, and searches on Santa Mara della Salute, they will never find your image. (You don't need 'canal' in that pic).
Also an editorial of Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas, without "Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas" in the keywords, same again. (You don't need 'tourist' or 'gambling' in this image).
I know that some other sites search titles and descriptions, but iStock doesn't, it only searches the keywords.
Good luck!

Thanks, I didn't realize that either and will have to take a look.  I send my images to several sites and I know a lot of them break all the keywords apart which makes it hard to search for images on istock.  I have never bothered to go back and do a keyword like "Santa Mara Della Salute" sense I figured the title searches too.  Guess I should fix that and see what happens.  Typical DT, 123RF and SS are my top sites.

Well, I am impressed that they will payout the $12 at the end of a year from closing an account.  Almost every site I am on would make you eat that dollar amount.  I also agree with Perry on the closing accounts thing, unless you are going to just send your images to Alamy.  You said you are keeping your focus on Alamy and SS, but SS pays typically less the 33cent (around 25cents for me).  However Photo Dune is always in my top 5 and does better then iStock.

I uploaded a small batch of images to see what their system is like and so far I am not impressed.  They accepted a few images and made them directly live, but almost all of the rest where put in a bracket to get property releases.  They are waiting property releases for things like a chess piece, row of chairs, a bed, etc....but things like a boat are fine.  Not sure what this is all about, but it looks like it might be a hassle if I had to create all these releases for non-buildings.  Oh, out of my 20 images they accepted 9, rejected 4 and the rest are in property release purgatory.

I don't get the whole selling cell phone pics either, but Pocketstock is doing the same thing.  They have an app that lets you do it automatically...I think there is another thread for them.

FYI, they are still around.  However I cashed out my earnings just incase...they let you take what ever is in your account every three months which is nice for a slow earner.

« on: January 02, 2012, 16:25 »
Although I have increased my portfolio throughout 2011 my sales number are down from last year.  Check out my blog for a full break down of everything, I have lots of charts and list all the sites I am on.  Hopefully 2012 will be a better year as I have a lot of backlogged images to go through.  Happy New Years everyone.

DT sometimes just does not take the risk for any property.  I would clone out the number to, I remove those all the time.

Newbie Discussion / Re: how long for Alamy response?
« on: November 15, 2011, 00:20 »
Some times they are fast, others very slow.  I had 10 images waiting sense Oct. 10th and uploaded another 10 yesterday.  Today I saw all 20 got rejected due to an image in the first batch.  I think that sped things up though.

Problem with Flickr is you can download any image that someone post on that site...even if you check the don't allow download button.

Adobe Stock / Re: Unsold files
« on: June 20, 2011, 15:56 »
When they first started the program I approved a few photo's that did not sell to go into the free section.  I have not seen any additional sales for these photo's and I have not seen an increase in sales on my normal images.  I would avoid sending them to the free section and just let them sit in the unsold column.  Its not worth the $0.50 they offer for the free images.

15
Make sure you submit how its says on their website.  DeepMeta has the date and then location.  All my images got rejected because istock requires location and then the date...I guess they are really picky on the order of things.  So I wanted to point that out as their third party software does not have the correct format...or I just got a crazy inspector.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Are you experiencing MASS REJECTIONS?
« on: June 20, 2011, 14:32 »
I have had the last 20 images all rejected for copyright issues.  Most of them are not full buildings, but they seem to be rejecting any part of a building.  For example I uploaded a shot of just a window and a bathtub with bubbles...both images have been rejected for not providing a property release.  However, Bigstock accepted them.

17
I have found some...I always just use a google images search.  Name | Company and some items come up.  Also I will do Name | Photographer

I think they go overboard too sometimes.  My guess is the inspector saw the text that you cant read on the button and rejected it for that reason.

 Nice Levi jeans though :-p

123RF / Re: How do you delete photos off of 123RF?
« on: May 29, 2011, 12:32 »
again it is quite weird and hard to explain the difference between contributors.. I do 6x more money on 123 that I do at BigStock or CanStockPhoto.. my BigStock/CanStockPhoto are dead dead.. like 5 to 10 sales monthly

this month
123RF - 64 sales - 51.35$ (no "EL")
CanStockPhoto - 4 sales - 2$
BigStock - 3 sales - 2$

I am the same way

Alamy.com / Re: Submission nightmare!
« on: May 29, 2011, 12:21 »
Yeah, Alamy is a different beast but worth the effort if you play by their rules. I still upload in small  batches as the risk vs reward is too high. Their all or nothing policy is based on the assumption that every image you upload is from the same shoot and that they are all the same quality. I've had  a couple of their SOLD rejections and have learned to keep all images in my Alamy folder until they are reviewed. If I get a rejection, I delete the image they rejected and take another careful look at the rest of the batch. If I still think they are ok, I upload the entire batch again minus the reject. I've never had a second rejection.

OTH, my highest sales there are mundane but well executied shots that would get an LCV at the quarter a pop sites.

My wishlist would be that, now that you don't have to get a check in the mail (they discontinued beaver pelts last year) that the payment threshold was a bit lower.

I do the same thing, its painfully a slow process so I limit my uploads to 10 images only.  I noticed also if you have multiple tracking images they will reject all your qued images if any of the others get rejected.

If you end up putting the flash slide show on the front page, I would recommend a link that shows all the images in the slide show.  That way if someone sees an image and it changes they don't have to wait until it completely rotates.

« on: May 29, 2011, 12:08 »
I don't have a problem with a year lock time...if I owned I site I was get sick of users submitting photo's and then pulling them all down in a few months.  As most underdog sites, it take a while to grow the business and its a waste for both parties.  If someone is considering going exclusive then the shouldn't be uploading to the smaller companies.

Travel photography is a huge chunk of my sales too.  I would bring it for sure, most hotels now of days are safe and even if you are worried a lot have a in room safe to store things.
