November 2018   1771
December 2018   1368
January 2019   1835
February 2019   1699
March 2019   1787

June 2019   1816
July 2019   1924
August 2019   1983

Shutterstock lost sell but Adobe stock is rising

Having a lot of downloads is not all ... the most important number is the RPD! And this number is on the way down since AS is in the market!!!

... much more than the number of sales are growing for only few contributors!

It is clear that this is the case with Adobe Stock purchases - but this does not apply to all previous Fotolia purchases. Back then, customers only paid the price for the specific size of the image (and are allowed to use the image within the license agreement - but who cares?). If they get the picture in full size now, that's the door opener for non-licensed use for me - triggered by Adobe!

Several customers are reporting that after migrating their customer account from Fotolia to Adobe Stock, they can now download all Fotolia credit-licensed images in full resolution. No matter what license they had purchased xs, s, m, ... every licensed work is available in full resolution!

No idea how long it's been like this ...

I can't remember that I gave Adobe permission to give customers a license extension for free ...

Can you check it out at your place or with your customer accounts?

Does anyone have an explanation?

Mat,

"When there is news that impacts contributors, my first stop is here in MSG."

This is not the way I expect to get news from a business partner ... for me, a community forum is not the right place to share important news for all contributors! Nice and thank you personally that you will do this, but Adobe should have an official way to communicate with their contributors!!!

"Regarding "higher commissions, prevent mass uploads"...we did raise the minimum commission recently and I believe our rate in general is very competitive in the market ..."

I think you (Adobe) know what I mean:
Adobe will close Fotolia, which was over many years for me (and many other contributors I know!) an exclusive partner with a functioning system for all (customer, plattform, contributors) and a good balance between abo system and credit sales possibility (for customers who want to be flexible). Since Credit sales dropped to nearly zero, we all have immense losses because customers are either forced into the subscription system at adobe or stay away completely because they don't want to have a subscription!

There's no compensation for that and that pulls away the floor under many people's feet (mine too!). And this is not the fault of the contributors or the customers (who, despite many temptations, still buy from Fotolia), but solely a decision by Adobe, which affects us contributors very hard!

Closing Fotolia (system) is for me (because I always had a high percentage of good credit sales) a commission cut of about 50 % ... and your celebrated "raise of commissions" helps nothing!

And that is NOT FAIR!

Do not produce expensive videos, but better features for contributors (AS-Cockpit is the worst on the market I know), more downloads with higher commissions, prevent mass uploads and ensure more fairness and better communication!

For that your share of our sales would be better used!

It's always the same ... posts of success are coming only from Newbies ... they don't know anything from former times and enjoying only the number of downloads and not the RPDs ... the real interesting numbers!

YESSSS!!!

GIVE US BACK FOTOLIA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

or better: Don't close the best selling system in microstock market!

... and go to hell with mass uploading, price dumping and new achievements like AS (which is a not more than a downgraded follower-agency of fotolia!), etc.

Great post ... I agree with you 100%!!!

Mat, that can be right, I hope ... but in this case adobe should give us more than just a statement. If your statement is correct , then adobe should have no problem giving us the buyer's data as an exception - maybe just a sample we selected to be checked by some contributors.

... as you said yourself ... one agency has already done it, why not others? We would never have noticed it if they hadn't screwed up themselves.

Look only to the sales between 06.-13.02.2019 (no sale from 15.02. was affected!) ... and there only to the bigger ones (no standard credit sales) ... then click on the picture-ID - and voil: you see the real commission ... that's not really difficult!

A second thing that makes me angry ...

They reduced an AS Extended License (26,4 -> 3,3 ... 12,5%) ... first I thought, it was reduced by the buyer to a normal AS Credit Sale - but now I heard about 2 other contributors, that they had the same reduction (of AS Extended Licenses) with that batch on friday (and - from very different sales times!).

So, I cannot believe, that many buyers of AS Extended Licences reduce their purchase at the same time!

Are more of this out there ?

I really want to know, what's going on there!

I checked it again - and here it's completely the same!!!

I had three commission-reductions (28,04 -> 3,50 16 -> 2 26,4 -> 3,3) always exactly 12,5% if its true that the error was that they paid us mistakenly the total sales price first, then we got really 12,5 % for these sales!!!

I did screen shots

I cannot believe that a software sometimes calculates wrong and sometimes right ... why does this mistake affect only a few sales (and most of all the bigger ones!) ??? Please give us a conclusive explanation of this!

And since your software cannot be trusted (at the moment) ... please give us the names of the buyers of these incorrectly calculated downloads, so that we can double-check this ourselves.

This is the only way you can regain lost trust!

All of us know, it was not the first time, AS calculates wrong ...

« on: September 24, 2018, 10:54 »
not REALLY good news ... you take away all the good credit sales - and give us back a few cents for minimum subscriptions ... shame on you!

21
I still think the old Fotolia site was much better!

Yes, yes, yes ... almost in every respect ... AS is a terrible disimprovement for contributors ... and not much better for buyers.

22
Not really a milestone!

Well done, Leaf ... these discussions (DT, FT, DPC ...) are too important for us all to be disturbed and flogged to death by trivialities!

Hello Beppe,
very good initiative, thank you!
But one thing within your post bothers me ... what we do here is not a war ;-)
We - the contributors - should be and I think we all want to be partners of the microstock agencies - both have the same target: to make money with our work. And at the moment we need the agencies for this - and they need us!

That eyerybody - and at the moment especially Fotolia! - should realize as soon as possible ...

If you say, it's a war with words, arguments and as much other activities as possible, then I agree with you.
