General Macrostock / Re: Anyone on Agefotostock?« on: January 25, 2014, 08:42 »curiously! Curiously what? You think to become a milionaire with other photographic agencies? You can if you have a stunning 4-digit portfolio probably but if you have only few pics you won't sale anything in any agency. Anyway, if you don't sale you are not a good photographer ;-) 3
General Macrostock / Re: Anyone on Agefotostock?« on: January 25, 2014, 07:52 »I have a few friends here in England who signed up with AGE and they tell me its the biggest waste of time ever. No sales at all, nothing. Probably they are not good photographers or they uploaded few dozens of photos so far and pretend to sale them after 2 minutes! If you carefully see what a photographic agency wants and sells before complaining, you will discover that selling pics is not the most difficult job in the world! 4

Alamy.com / Re: Any clue for this sale?« on: October 15, 2012, 14:05 »
I don't think it's an inflight magazine as usually they name the airline's country: for example, I sold a photo for LAN and the country, in fact, was Chile, though LAN is flying in many countries.

Alamy.com / Re: Balance carried forward vs. Cleared balance« on: October 15, 2012, 07:28 »So when should I start emailing support about earnings not clearing? I have a sale from July 18th that hasn't cleared yet. They really need to make those pages easier to read and deal with. Depends from what sale you made. British papers' sales are paid normally 2 to 3 months later Alamy noticed a sale on your account. In April I discovered a photo of mine published on a website and sold through Alamy. A couple of months later, I wrote an email to members service asking for when it would have been paid and still today Alamy doesn't know when! 9

Alamy.com / Re: alamy sale refunded - what the heck?« on: June 28, 2012, 10:09 »
Unfortunately, it is normal to have photos sold and then refunded one month later. It happened to me once with a photo refunded. Other times, instead, photo was refunded and then immediately re-purchased again by the same customer for the same amount of money. Once, I experienced a refund of a photo of mine which few weeks later was bought by the same client but for an inferior amount of money!

You upload photos to send to them via FTP. They should give the parameters needed to do that.

In my first year on AGE Fotostock I was not able to sale any photo, then sales came out regularly. My current portfolio on AGE is about 600 pics.

General Macrostock / Re: submitting to Getty« on: May 28, 2012, 04:36 »Have I got it wrong, or is it the case that if you apply for the Getty/Flickr route, all your Flickr photos have to be considered, you can't block out those you don't want there? (I guess unless you've restricted them to friends or family.) No, you just upload to Getty just the photos on Flickr you are interested to put on sale. Occasionally, you may receive an email from Getty where they ask for a photo of yours they noticed on your Flickr collection, even if you haven't sent to them. You may accept or refuse to give it to them. BTW, if a pic is accepted by Getty, do you have to have a full-size, unwatermarked image on Flickr, or do you send the hi-res version to Getty directly? In my case, I upload photos for being selected by Getty in a low resolution version and with watermark. If they select it, I upload the high-resolution version directly in their website. General Macrostock / Re: submitting to Getty« on: May 28, 2012, 03:50 »
I have applied to Getty a couple of years ago by submitting a link to my portfolio and, 3 months later, they replied suggesting to participate to their flickr collection by submitting a wider portfolio. I did and 2 weeks later I passed successfully their test. Once you are in Flickr collection, you can upload till 100 photos per month for being reviewed and Getty decides which are the most appealing to be sold. Getty selects the single photo and decide if it has to be sold as RM or RF (or the miserable RF Flickr open in terms of money you get if sold! :'(). You don't have the right to select how your photos can be put on sale. Also, they provide the sngle keywords for every image accepted (which is not bad in this case ). You can always suggest more keywords to add anyway. Differently from Alamy, if your submitted photo contains one or more individuals, Getty is asking you for MR otherwise the photo is not accepted.

General Macrostock / Re: Getty/Corbis/Alamy--- which one is selling your photos more these days ?« on: May 28, 2012, 03:36 »
Well, I have photos on sale on both Getty and Alamy. In terms of number of photos sold related to the amount of photos on sale, Getty wins on Alamy.

Alamy.com / Re: Alamy distributor sale - 40% commission, anyone else?« on: May 27, 2012, 06:24 »
Occasionally, I make sales via distributor agents for Alamy. One of several sales I made this month turned to be a ridicolous amount for an Italian website:
Country: Italy Usage: Low res for electronic and web use Media: Editorial website Placement: One placement / one website Image Size: up to 450 pixels Start: 16 May 2012 End: 16 May 2013 Alamy Distribution Commission 20% 0.77 USD Distributor Commission 40% 1.54 USD total left to me: 1,55 USD (just little more than 1 !) Just enough for a cup of coffee Stefano www.stefanopolitimarkovina.com
