I'm still around and have been around all this time.

I would like to thank everyone who give their honest thoughts about this. even though now I have read from both sides, it doesn't make my decision any easier. but I've decide to go full time and will be approaching microstock on a business level.

thanks again and take care.

@click click, PaulieWalnuts, leaf, noodle, dan and nicku
thank you for your input, actually I have made my mind after post here, i'm 33 years old the only thing in my life so far can even consider a little successful is microstock, without it, i'm really just a nobody. i think now it's time to make it greater than just little successful. 6 years ago when i started microstock, the only goal i had was that hoping one day i can make money enough to take control my own life. if i dont do it now, then i have forgotten why i started microstock in the first place.

@luissantos84
i'm here all the time, but i dont post much, just read then leave. one reason is that i really have no time, the same reason i dont have facebook or twitter or any other social network account. i'd rather use the time to do microstock.

and to rest of the guys who has doubts about this thread, i can post a snapshot of my earning here, then what? i bet someone will then say that i'm full timer already. so i'm not going to make any more effort to explain myself rather than the following: have you ever re-visit a lie you made 2.5 years ago on the internet forum? or do you even remember a lie you post it 2.5 year ago on the net? just think about that.

General Stock Discussion / become a full timer?
« on: November 10, 2012, 16:03 »
hi guys

two years ago i post one topic here: http://www.microstockgroup.com/general-stock-discussion/am-i-doing-ok-with-micro-stock/

at that time i was seriously considering leaving my day job and become a full time microstocker, funny despite that i hate my day job to death i still didn't quit it yet. it's a lot of financial responsibilities on my shoulder as i'm the only one brings home the bacon, as a man i swallowed a lot of pain and unhappiness for the family. today i'm in a much better situation now, mortgage is paid off and bought one car for my wife and a new van for my photo business in cash, during the last two years i almost doubled my portfolio and my earning is now more than doubled. i know that a lot of guys will not believe this but as a part time microstocker i'm making more than $8000 a month, 3 times more than my full time job pay check!

technically and financially i think i'm ready to tell my boss to got to hell, however maybe due to my personality - being too cautious, mentally i somewhat still short of some confidence, mainly due to that i was never professionally trained and being the sole income provider for the family, the decision will have huge impact on the family as well.

am i being too ridiculous that with these figures i'm still worrying? your honest opinion needed, especially from the successful old timers.

...

I would have someone start scouring all the cheap places that sell knock-off products with no brand names that are designed to look like famous stuff. I'm assuming if this type of eyewear is popular (like Sarah Palin's glasses) then there'll be plenty of cheap imitations available. If your lawyers had 10 examples of glasses that were just like the brand name ones to show their lawyers and asked them how they planned to prove that the glasses in your images had the brand name items in them, perhaps they'd decide this was not worth their time.

...

this is the best advice so far imo, how can they prove that the glasses in the photo actually theirs? let's say that you bought these glasses in Thailand flea market with a cheap brand name, the actual people violated their glasses design copyright is the glasses maker, not you.

i would never settle this type case outside courthouse though.

can't believe the 85mm f1.2 II is not on the list, that's the only lens I have, that makes it is THE most frequently used for me.

it just amazes me that people actually submit to agencies like this.

I bet Sean will have something to say about this.  ;D

StockFresh / Re: Anyone else seeing StockFresh sales improve?
« on: October 15, 2012, 10:13 »
I can hardly believe it, but Stockfresh seems to be reviving for me.  I have had sales nearly every day this month.

Is there some advertising initiative going on, or am I just getting lucky?  Anybody else notice some improvement there?

I almost cannot believe that you have 7000+ photos on that site and didn't even get sales daily. to me, it's still very dead.  ;)

You can approach the whole matter differently and shoot keywords:
 1    flower
2    christmas
3    background
4    medical
5    family
6    vector
7    tattoo
8    music
9    woman
10    baby
11    logo
12    wedding
13    business
If you shoot these popular keywords, and quality is not so important as we use to think, as long as the pictures get approved, and fx shoot 52 pictures of each and then upload 13 pictures a week, each being one of the keywords.

If you shoot "strange shadows on railroad fences in Minnesota", you are not going to have many downloads.

flower, really? ;)

I noticed yesterday that referral link on my website linked to my SS portfolio doesn't work anymore. (Oops! The Shutterstock server encountered an error.)

same here, it's still not fixed (12/oct/2012)

even if you have 1000+ online just some random shots, you will not be happy with the result.

Crestock.com / Re: Why I am finally leaving CreStock
« on: October 12, 2012, 03:07 »
I only join Crestock after I saw the video they made for Yuri, have about 500 pics online, only had one payout of $50 in 3 years.  >:(

Did they also recently limit keywords to 30 or 35? really don't understand such a company.

14
I think the shutterstock team needs to look into it actually.  I can see anyone's portfolio on the shutterstock site.

I bet they are busy drinking champagne in the office at moment, celebrating ;)

it's nice to be treated like normal human being with feelings, isn't it? such a pity that other agencies just don't get it.

I wish them the best!

16
I'm glad that none of mine on that list  ;D

DepositPhotos / Re: Very Disappointed
« on: October 05, 2012, 04:24 »
They told me they deleted my pictures, but they only deactivated them.
They don't want to delete them at all. I don't know why.

maybe your files are still on sale on PP, they just simply don't have to report any earning anymore. with a site like this you never know. bottom line, I personally don't trust DP at all.

« on: July 29, 2010, 08:14 »
your question just made me realized that i DONT have a life away from microstock. i can tell you that while have a full time job and decent income from microstock is not easy! i personally have given up all my free time and hobby for microstock, but luckily i'm still very happy when i'm shooting stock.

123RF / Re: 123RF is NUTS!!
« on: July 15, 2010, 14:10 »
if my images got rejected i just couldn't be bothered to re-submit them again on 123rf.

but generally speaking, sales are not bad on 123rf for me.

this is the second time on 123RF I am thinking if it is worth losing time giving them the link from SS or other agencies, why dont they do their job and review properly??
