Believing in microstock Success is quiting your job, good luck
I once believe that, and almost quit my job ... I am glad I didn't take that step. 5

No. One million dollar question. Yes. 9
I am an early begginer at Canva, I send them my portfolio before Canva start doing business.
Now I have 5253 images at Canva (decreasing every day), vs 8994 at SS ... my sales at Canva are steady since August 2014, with an exceptional December ... at SS sales are decreasing every month (now I made half than one year ago). Even so, Canva is 1/4 of what I made at SS ... I think soon they will meat in royalties, but because SS will decrease even more. 10

If any one want's to get out of Stocksy I can take his place there
And if they have "bad" photos there, good for me, I have some good ones 11

General Macrostock / Re: Getty removes size based RF pricing« on: May 20, 2015, 10:48 »No difference to me since I'm not with them. I am with them, and also there is no difference. Rarely the photos sell for the price annouced at the site, ..., it more like some illegal market where each client bargain theire own price. 13
General Stock Discussion / Re: Game is on - agencies want high quality content. I am falling behind« on: May 07, 2015, 05:09 »
I think is not about filters or even the style ... we all have photos that match some of the ones we see at Stocksy.
I think the way to be accepted at Stocksy now is showing them the type of images that they are looking for ... and that is the gold question. For us, that don't have access to the Stocksy foruns is hard to know that. For my aplication this year, i need a mentor someone to guide me into to the right path ... any one there to help? 14
General Stock Discussion / Re: Game is on - agencies want high quality content. I am falling behind« on: May 05, 2015, 03:12 »Fair enough, but still people make good money on Getty and they are traditionally not seen as a penny for stock agency. The problem with Getty is that they don't have volume sales, for the few sales they make they have to lower theire prices close to micro. Sometimes they do a better sale, at normal price, and that saves the month. 15
General Stock Discussion / Re: Game is on - agencies want high quality content. I am falling behind« on: May 05, 2015, 03:09 »
In the next years all the big agencies will want only the best stuff and will pay less and less.
Photography is a commodity product. It was fun and profit some years ago ... 16
General Stock Discussion / Re: Submitting to Getty Images« on: April 17, 2015, 11:05 »
I don't care if Getty is added to the Poll or not ... those numbers don't tell me mutch.
But, ..., putting Getty (or any macro agencie) in the Microstock Group is looking to the future, all of them sell or will sell in the near future photos at microstock prices. This forum is about selling photos. 17
General Stock Discussion / Re: Submitting to Getty Images« on: April 17, 2015, 03:48 »
Contibutors from the Flickr/Getty deal can directly submit.
New contributors have to apply to House collections (very difficult) or to Moment collections in some of there regular competition. They select the images they want, the collection and licence, the images are exclusive (and similar), we do the keyword, and they demand theire model release template. From my experience, they sell few images and most of them not at the regular prices, 80% of my sales are sell at micro prices. Sometimes I have a good RF sale. The word is that Stone and Taxi collections (all RM licence) is where the money are, but is very difficult to be accepted to that collections. I only keep uploading to Getty because the bad performance of microstock agencies, they are also selling less and giving less royalties. 18
For files in the backlog, the date you uploaded them has no impact on when they get reviewed. If they're not all reviewed by next Friday, email me and I'll look into it for you. Hi Lee, when you can also send my full portfolio stats, please ;-) 19

Now, I hate microstock ...
I love microstock when I make money from my efforts, creativity and work. Those days are gone. 20
I like to congratulate CANVA and all their team for the excellent work.
In the last years almost all the new agencies that I have join were a failure, that I have regretted some months later. CANVA, have some problems yet, but I agree with their priorities, even that they must find a way to work the long time for "Pending cut-out" images. CANVA is a success agency in this bad times at microstock industry. For me CANVA in now number 3 in profits (only with half of my portfolio, the other half are "Pending cut-out" images), and with the latest changes at istock and the performance at CANVA this month, soon CANVA will be number 2 only beaten by Shutterstock. Lee: I am happy the he have that Skype talk ;-) 21

Also decline. At this time I was expecting that.
So sad I still have to look at Getty as my first agencie. Well ... one year to build a new portfolio and apply again. 25

Can we still submit? I think the application to stocksy is closed.
As for the "waiting", happen to me also. I think is not good news ... but we will see. |
