Having a good month on SS, On target for my best month ever. Have been trying to shoot more stock orientated images which seems to be helping (few isolations).  Next month hoping to get the 30c Raise, will be just over a year since i joined.

Hoping other sites pickup though.

Highest downloads on an image i could find was 3....there was a number of image with downloads. Interesting to see where this one goes.

I suppose it is only in BETA and u get a lot of weird results in the search engine. But i suppose it has only been live for a day or so.

reading the UK version of the blog earlier it gave a rough estimate of  the times that the site would be back up and announced the winner of the v2 logo competition. The US site did not have the same blog post.

Quote:
"...The V2 will be online today in the afternoon for Fotolia Europe and tomorrow morning for our American Fotolians..."

a picture of flowers with the following keywords:

aalsmeer bee close color colour dutch flower flowers gay holland sex smell up valentine yellow

EDIT: I reported this one

Good list sharply!!

Amusingly one of the sunflower shots that has a "bees" as a keyword with no bees that i can see in the shot is in the TOP 50 ever photos list.

Hi All,

I know you can submit bad keywords at SS for review but i am not sure whether i am being picky or not? These example are probably borderline but i just find them highly annoying for some reason.

If you search for the word Bee or Bees ordered by most popular you get lots of flowers with not a bee in sight (lots of sunflower images seem to have this). I know you can associate a flower with a bee but clearly if some is searching for a photo of a bee they dont want a flower without a bee near it. I know its not a big deal but i just find it annoying.  >:(

Also If you search for communications tower you get copious amounts of heavy duty power lines. I know you can send data through power lines but really i dont see how you can use the keyword communications.

I may not be the best keyworder but i try to check that they are relavent to the image. I admit that i copy keyword from my other images and use them for similar images but i always recheck them.

Any thoughts? any more examples annoying usage of keywords?

« on: April 08, 2007, 23:46 »
if you actually go back and find the original thread which is nearly impossible on the DT forum you will find that the keymasters program is different to the keymentor program (2c for the words u submit).

I think from memory they set you up with some software or something and you get 20 cents for each image you key word.

cheers,

Maybe it will conveniently coincide with the new pricing increase, but they will have to do some serious reviewing. oohh we reached a Million now our prices change.  ;D

« on: January 30, 2007, 19:46 »
Well continuing on from my OP, I think it has definitely been worth signing up with SS. I Got accepted on shutterstock & istock first go. bit lucky i think  ;D. I have to thank Fintastique for his PM words of advice, I would have given u a referral mate but it was to late.

I have 45 images online already approved at SS, * fast reviewing. They have already made more in one week than i have at DT for the whole month.  I have passed 100 downloads already. My biggest selling image has already out earned more than my biggest selling image at DT.

I have my quota waiting to be apporved on iStock been waiting for a week, which sounds about normal. I am not a fan of the keywording and disambiguation. But if stuff sells there then i suppose its worth it.

cheers,

Rossco
