I've just been banned from the istock forum for posting this, I also got a nice sarcastic email from the moderator.

I to find it ironic that we have managed to take that site down as quickly as we did and people are still finding reasons to be upset.....
Not as ironic as we find it, it just goes to further highlight how completely out of touch with it's contributors istock/getty are. Nobody was upset at the site - in fact it's very clear from this thread that we were all using it to check whether our images were included. We are only upset that istock/getty have allowed the display & download of contributors images at high resolution to be possible (and legal) by selling images to google to redistribute for free on some sort of perpetual license that no-one but google/getty are privy too.

I think most contributors have had enough now and unless there are some concrete things done to re-compensate the contributors involved and give us the ability to opt out of 3rd party deals such as this then we're going to be leaving in droves.
I've never been banned from anything before, I feel I should get a badge or something  :o

It's all so sad.

I don't ever want to see ads in apps I've paid for. It's one or the other for me, I also don't have an iPad, you don't need to get revenue from me because I've already paid  :) I don't want to sound like an ungrateful cheapskate though!

The new app looks fantastic - thanks. One thing though, as I originally paid for it, i'd rather not receive ads. Is that possible? Thanks  :)

And judging from the forums, the koolaid has taken effect and most everyone is back to wooyaying and has even forgotten about the whole commission thing. IS/Getty's plan worked. All they had to do was weather a month or two of whining, and business is back to normal. I can't believe some people can be bought off so easily.

I don't know for sure, but I'm betting that, like me, the ones who are still disgusted over the royalties issues aren't bothering to post.  Or have been banned, and/or had their critical posts removed.  There's a lot of that going around.

I expect that Koolaid will be even harder to swallow come January when the new RCs kick in...

I posted until I got threats and warnings by private message.

Thank you everyone. Very interesting replies. I've 99% made my mind up but I'm not looking forward to re-uploading! Also, I've had my nose so deep in the iStock reality distortion field for so long that I didn't even know this place existed before a couple of weeks ago.

Right then, I've got some applications to get in!

Thanks for your help. Fotolibra fascinate me. I get their picture call emails, they certainly seem to get lots of requests from picture buyers.

Does anyone know which microstock agencies accept scans of old illustrations and engravings? I know iStock do, do a search for Victorian London and you'll see some amazing images like this... http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-photo-13376788-victorian-london-houndsditch.php.

I've also seen that fotoliba will sell them as RM rather than RF, see here: http://www.fotolibra.com/about/heritage.php.

So, other than iStock and Fotolibra, where can I upload my massive collection of Victorian illustrations?

Thanks  :)

I'm not expecting a direct answer because I've got to choose, I know, but I've been an exclusive at iStock for 5 long years, they have mostly trated me well, income has gone up and I've had no real complaints. This is a real dilemma for me because inn January, after all the changes, I will take a pay cut  (I'm currently silver) and it's like going back to square 1.

I want to drop the crown, but I'm scared!

I've just been accepted at stockfresh, which looks so clean and new compared too iStock, and to be quite honest, I'm looking forward to starting again and having several income streams.

Any thoughts? Thanks  :)

Thanks so much JS, for the heads up.  >:(

It's a technical glitch. Payments will stay as they have been over the last 2 years. There will be no change in the payment schedule. It sucks but it will be resolved for Friday Morning.

...and thanks for dropping in here Pieman.  Could I just ask.... will contributors who don't frequent MSG and the iStock forum receive an email notification?

Let me answer that for you...NO! Apparently IS doesn't know how to mass email...in the 5 or 6 years I've been there, the only email I've gotten is the newsletter or responses to email's I have sent. Never any heads-up type of emails.

There was a mass email for kelly's first 'everything is great for us so we're making things worse for you' announcement.

Maybe they forgot to account for Thanksgiving break?  We ate a lot of turkey this weekend up here in Canada.  How late is the payment?

It was delayed from monday to tuesday for the holiday. Now they have pushed it back to friday
