DepositPhotos / Re: Uploading Issues with Deposit Photos Only

Well, I guess I'm not alone  :(

I just installed FileZilla, and it's working fine.  Quick question about FileZilla....what Encryption option do you use?

Thanks,
Trish

DepositPhotos / Uploading Issues with Deposit Photos Only
« on: August 28, 2019, 13:00 »
Hi,

Looking for some advice as to why I am unable to upload to Deposit Photos.  I have been a contributor of this site for a few years and have had no issues using their site uploader to upload my images.  As of August 6, that came to an end.

When I go to the site uploader, I add a .jpg file and click upload.  The upload will start, but then stops at 2% or 3%, sometimes I get to 15%, and then it stops.  After 10 minutes of no progress, I usually cancel it.  One time I started a upload, went for a walk, and returned to a  red dot by the file.

I upload to several other sites, and I have no issues with those uploads.  I don't understand if the problem is on my side or their side.  Technical support from DP has been light.  Not sure if this matters, but since Aug. 6th I have done the Version 10 update to my PC Windows.  But if that was the problem, I would assume I would have trouble on all my sites when uploading.

Really stumped and getting no where.  Any ideas?

Thanks,
Trish

Good advice on adding that to the contract, even though I have been very open about it.  I have submitted this question to one of the stock sites to get their take on it.

Thank you,
Trish

General Stock Discussion / Sell the Rights
« on: June 06, 2018, 12:13 »
Hi
A friend of mine wants to buy the rights to one of my photos.  I am on several stock sites but the one he wants to buy is not on any of the sites, but the photo is similar.  For example, if I have several images of Cabo San Lucas, and the one he wants is of the same place, same location, but not exact, am I violating any agreements with the agencies (assuming most contracts are the same).

Any suggestions,
Thanks,
Trish

Pond5 / Pond 5 Distribution Preferences
« on: November 24, 2014, 19:46 »
Hi,
I have a small portfolio in Pond 5, with no sales to date.  The waiting time for image reviews seems to get longer and longer.  Right now I believe my images are just on Pond 5, but I'm curious what others think of the other preferences?  Is it worth checking the box so that sales can happen on Pixmac (never heard of it), and the other option "via other websites" sounds very vague.  What sites does that exactly mean?  Anyone with a history and good sales experience have any ideas?

Happy Thanksgiving.

Pond5 / Re: Ways they review
« on: August 11, 2014, 15:01 »
Thanks for your reply.  I hope you're right.  The reason I ask is that I submitted 5 images for my first upload.  All were rejected, with the note,

"thank you for the upload but the quality of this image is too low and it is unlikely to sell. It is too noisy."

The verbiage implies one image was too noisy, yet all 5 were rejected.

I guess I'll keep trying...

Pond5 / Ways they review
« on: August 08, 2014, 14:26 »
Hi
I'm new to Pond5, and I'm just curious about their review practices.  When they review a batch of images, do they just review ONE image and if it doesn't meet their standards they reject ALL those in the batch (like Alamy), or does each individual image get a review?

Thanks,
Ruth

Pond5 / Re: Basic Editing in Pond5
« on: August 02, 2014, 11:14 »
I agree, most of the information is set up for Video.  I just uploaded an Editorial image and I'm not sure if I did it right, I just followed the same procedure I did as a commercial RF image.  There doesn't seem to be a distinction between Commercial images and Editorial images.  Haven't gotten to uploading Releases yet (I guess I'll have to muddle through that too).  Couldn't find any info on how to set up an Editorial image.  I guess they will tell me when I'm wrong.  It seems like a good site, I like the idea of setting my own prices.  Thanks for the input.

Thank you both for your quick and most helpful information.  The site does seem to be geared mostly to video.

Many thanks,

Hi,
I'm brand new to Pond5, and I've spent some time roaming around the site but I need some help and was hoping I could get some answers from the experts!

I uploaded some photos and now they require editing. As I look at the Editing page, my first Q pertains to Options: Apply Template. What is that all about? Can someone give me a link that would explain in more detail what this is all about?

Next, price - if I set a price by me, can it be changed later, either higher or lower?

Next, "Add to Collections"....are these collections similar to Lightboxes theory that the photographer creates?

And finally, I keep reading about creating a thumbnail, not sure what that is all about and why...again is there a link that would give more information on what that is all about?

Many thanks,
Ruth

Then I guess I'm on the right track.  Just needed some reassurance that I was on target in fixing the problem.  Many thanks.

Hi
When you get a rejection from Shutterstock for "lighting problems", what is the first thing you typically do to correct it?

iStockPhoto.com / Finding Last Download
« on: July 28, 2013, 09:44 »
Hi
Sometimes I'll see a big jump in my account but I can't seem to find out what image sold and for how much.  Even when I click "last download" I can't seem to find what sold for the amount reflecting my balance.  Is there a place to go to find your last image sold and the amount it sold for ?

Thanks
Ruth

Hi
Does anyone know where SS posted there fix to the "Copy to Clipboard" problem in the new Keyword Suggestions box?  Another post on SS said they discussed in MSG...what is MSG (besides being salt? )

DepositPhotos / Re: New editor is not working properly
« on: January 30, 2013, 10:37 »
I agree with everyone on this.  The old way was so smooth, fast and easy.  I even sent them a note letting them know that their editing process was the best.  This new way....yuck!  Two problems I noticed right away.....if there is a typo in the keyword section, it tells you but doesn't allow you to correct it.  Also, what about Extended License?  Is it now the default so it doesn't have to be check for each image?

I sent them a note, politely asking them to revert back to the old way.  Hope they listen.

General Stock Discussion / Re: FTP question
« on: December 12, 2012, 16:49 »
Filezilla is very easy to use.  I use it to upload to all my stock sites, except ISP.  Each site should give you instructions on how they want you to set it up.

DepositPhotos / Contributor Lightboxes

Hi
I've searched the site but can't seem to find information on how to organize a contributor's portfolio into Lightboxes.  Can you do this and can someone supply a link to how I can get more information?

Thanks

General Stock Discussion / Tax Center Question
« on: December 10, 2012, 16:03 »
Hi
Why do some stock agencies ask Contributors to fill out a W-9 form (before they will do any payouts) and others do not require it at all, and I'm speaking strictly to those agencies in the US?

Just curious,
Ruth

Hi
Can I take pictures of a golf course that is considered "Private" and submit them as RF stock if I don't mention the name or location of the golf course in title, description or keywords?

Thanks
Ruth

(PS, I know it probably doesn't matter, but I am a member of this club).

123RF / Re: For those experienced 123RF Contributors
« on: December 09, 2012, 19:37 »
Thanks for everyones input.  I appreciate it.   One more question.......is there a specific format that they want their Editorial images worded?  I notice in the History page for submitted editorials Title box there isn't a lot of room to give a newsworthy description

Many thanks,
Ruth.  :)

Is it important to upload Editorials using the editorial directory in filezilla, or just up load both RF images with Editorial and let them get separated after inspection?   All info, such as keywords, title, and description are input in Photoshop.

Hi
I'm new to 123RF, and I'm trying to figure out the best workflow to edit then submit new uploads.  I use Filezilla to upload.  What is the best workflow once the images have been received by 123RF (right now I'm getting a little confused between clicking on the
"For Photographers/Upload"  and "For Photographers/History" link at the bottom of the page?

Thanks
Ruth
