General Stock Discussion / Re: PhotoShelter equivalent for video?!
« on: November 26, 2020, 09:40 »
Thanks cathyslife :-)

I'm already on Pond5. What I need is a self-hosted solution or platform like PhotoShelter, where I pay for template/website/hosting/storage space, where I can set my own price, and keep all income, rather than share it with some agency :-)

General Stock Discussion / PhotoShelter equivalent for video?!
« on: November 26, 2020, 08:02 »
Hi gang

I'm looking for a PhotoShelter equivalent kinda thing, but for video sales instead (or both video and stills). I basically need a platform where I can upload my own videoclips, and set my own price for those clips. What's out there, worth getting into?

Thanks for your help :-)

Brian

Hey gang.

I have a question about releases: I'm getting footage rejected, because I don't have a property release. The footage is aerial stuff of Copenhagen - just with normal housing and residental areas, no known buildings or landmarks.
Yet I see others having loads of material up, from everywhere in the world, with literaly 100's of buildings (including known ones), selling it as commercial clips (NOT editorial). HOW?!? How is that possible, and then why do I get rejections for some clip of a few simple apartment blocks....?

Please help me to understand this

How can it be dead? There are over 322 million files online. 4 million more than just a few days ago.

Does all this blackout thing help at all? WHO is it that keeps uploading, and WHY do they do it? I'm getting so frustrated here. I don't see Shutterstock losing anything at the moment. The amount of files should be decreasing instead of increasing........

5
Yup..... They now cut away my income, and have started deleting my portfolio. Yesterday it was at 795, right now at 130.......

In the light of recent events that Shutterstock pulled on us, maybe our reaction are being heard by SS?!?

General Stock Discussion / Opt out of video on Shutterstock
« on: April 15, 2020, 13:33 »
To whom it may concern:

You can opt out on sale of your entire video library. Read this article. Maybe a strong signal to send to Shutterstock if everybody did it? :-)

Maybe everybody should do this today (opt out of video) https://www.shutterstock.com/contributorsupport/articles/en_US/kbat02/000006563?q=opting+out+of+sales&l=en_US&fs=Search&pn=1

It's so sad. And I was just about to go all in on stock video...... :-(

Would a sign pettion be any idea?

10
Thanks for your help Sue. I'll try and see what happens :-)

11
Would try to send an email to support, but can't even find support :-/

12
Yes, I see all that. I go to royalties.... For a short split of a second, I see the Royalties box on top of the Summary and the Export box, then it dissappears.....

13
I am on ESP. It's not that long ago. I'm talking a couple of months. I have no problem logging in. That's not the problem. Only these problems I wrote here - I can't see my royalties anywhere.

Hey gang

Haven't been on Getty for ages, and have just returned to check my sales (if any). But I can't get to my royalties. I see two boxes when I go to "Royalties" - Summary and Export. Briefly there is another box called Royalties when I refresh the site, but it disappears after a split second.

Nowhere can I find a royalty statement, or see how many downloads there's been. Can't export any files either. And can't seem to find any contact form to Getty.

Anybody having the same trouble? What has happened while I was away?

Thanks

Brian

General Stock Discussion / Alamy - is it worth it?
« on: August 27, 2019, 08:11 »
Hey guys

I dropped Alamy about three years ago, after I've been on the platform for maybe 2-3 years - without any sales. I remember the upload process and all the keywording etc to be such a hassle, that I just gave up on it.

I'm now doing a little research to see what other photographers do with their stock portfolio, and how they "make things happen". Many are talking about Alamy as a good source of income.

Has the upload process changed at Alamy, are you guys selling anything, is it worth it to create a new profile and try again? Please let me have your input.

Thanks

Brian

General Stock Discussion / Fotosearch

Hi

Sorry if I sound like a n00b, but what is Fotosearch, and who are they connected to? I see lots of my pictures there, and I haven't placed them there!

General Stock Discussion / Pocketstock
« on: February 20, 2013, 12:56 »
Hi all

I believe I've seen a topic about this recently - Pocketstock. I've just received a mail from them, where they state that they would like to represent my portfolio, and if I upload before this and this date, they will set the royalty rate to 40 % on all future uploads. Anyone else received this email?

Anyone of you in here represented on Pocketstock? Any sales?

Please enlighten me :-)

Oh, and my 50 cents regards Stocksy..... No answer yet for me either.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: D-Day (Deactivation Day) on Istock - Feb 2
« on: January 23, 2013, 10:21 »
Just got 85 pictures rejected some minutes ago....
That was one h*lluva backup they cleared.

Yeah....... Looks like IS is digging their own grave. Well, I can't be bothered with them anymore. Next question is just where to move to and support? I've just been accepted on Graphicleftovers, and also started uploading to MostPhotos..... Any other sites recommended? I'm already on SS, FT, DT, Deposit, 123, CS, BS, Veer, Cre, Feature, Stockfresh, Clipdealer, Sign, scanstock and stockami.

I'm tired of Istock..... They've rejected so many of my pictures that are actually selling ok on SS and other sites...... Just got 85 pictures rejected some minutes ago.... And they've already been selling a fair bit on SS for some time now...... Count me in for a very small portfolio of only 33 pictures.

Hi guys

Seems to be a lot going on with Istock these days!

Do you know of a site called http://www.freedigitalphotos.net/ - it's based in UK. They are also giving away free photos, but in smaller, almost useless sizes and quality. Then the bigger, better and more useful versions of the same pictures are being sold at a pretty good price. This is all something that you as a contributor knows, when you sign up. These are the terms that you sign up to. I have had lots of downloads of my pictures, and a fair amount of sale, where my commission ranges from $ 2,25 - 7,50 per file.

Their philosophy is that if people really want free pictures, nothing can prevent them to find it online. That's why they're giving customers access to photos in almost useless quality, and sell the bigger files at a little higher price.

What's your view on this kind of business plan?

Another thing: Do you know the Colourbox.com site? It's based in Denmark, with offices in Finland and New York. I guess they will be happy to take over Istock's contributors and customers :-) I'm having fair sales there, and uploading is pretty easy. They're covering Scandinavia, Germany, UK and other parts of Europe as it is now, and they're supplying MetroXpress in Scandinavia with photos. They're not even between the Low Earners in the microstock poll, but I think they could be worth trying out for some of you.

Best regards

Brian

Newbie Discussion / Re: Newbie here
« on: January 09, 2013, 01:35 »
Hi and thanks for all the kind welcomes :-)

Yes, I've already been on all the top tier, all the middle tier and some of the low earners for some time now. Closing in on my 2000th download on Shutterstock. Still a long way to go though :-)

I wish you all the best, and hope to get to know some of you better!
