Alamy.com / Re: Commission lowered to 20%
« on: May 19, 2021, 12:43 »
Just as I thought 250$ in commission is not a problem for me personally...I had 2 sales for 10 cents each. I never had a 10c sale on Alamy, so maybe 250 will be a challenge after all.

Thanks for this and for the last two years of all the apps, this is really kind and generous.

So it's like.. Share the profit, share the punishment. If its true then it teaches that if you can take benefits of higher commission by uploading in a mass, you will have to bear its side effects too as a group.
The more lucrative world of stock footage compared to photos, and now that you can download an endless amount of 4K clips from sub sites

Just to show, SS dont care about how big you are! If you violate Terms of service...youre in trouble.

I feel bad for Pat and BB (not getting into weather BB is the place to go to or not)
The guy tries his best to run a clean operation.

Im also glad to see that SS takes things very professionally. 900K clips, gone, I think its temporary.

So, assuming this is legit, what would someone pay for a 38K 150k$ a year portfolio? Im curious.

I guess it comes down to how much the contributors get paid and how long is that while and are they going for best sellers of undiscovered gems.

Will it always be the same chosen few who get paid? If so, it probably is a good deal for them.

Not so much for the unchosen rest of us.

I hope and assume that they will diversify, it just makes sense.  Will all contributors take part? I assume not. If they want to buy good images that got buried for no reason, for a year and for an honest and fair price, which will be very low for images that have never sold...this can work if done fairly.

Hi,
The way I read it, AS buys from contributors, put it for a while in the free collection, the contributor got paid regardless of how many times the file was downloaded and when a while passes the file returns to the paid collection. So, I guess that can be a nice thing if its done fairly and call me naive but I trust AS.  I guess it comes down to how much the contributors get paid and how long is that while and are they going for best sellers of undiscovered gems.

Am I missing something here?
Ive been around since Fotolia days, this doesnt seem bad.

I found this website and started to upload my clips. In that way I could have my shop without big hustle. sounds all good  so far, they have some issues and some things are not so straight forward but overall it looks great. its worth a shot.
does anyone have experience with this site?
thanks for any answers
Started uploading my files a couple of days ago.  How is it working for you? Its very quiet with them, no buzz and I would love to know that this service wont suddenly disappear.

Nevermind, had to check the details of a sale that I got DAYS before the email and its license is listed as GPP.
The email that came empty today was about the sales reported with no email on June 10th.   I think...

12 new sales... nice! I'm assuming they're sales through some kind of partner site or something, and they get reported in chunks rather than every day.
Fantastic!

Nothing in 10 days, generally super low sales recently but thats an entire issue by itself.

Checked my earnings today after a call from another contributor telling me a block of random sales showed up with no emails.

And bam ! 10 sales.
So...check your sales.
10 random sales at once, no notification and after a long dry period.

A bit strange.

Me too!

March $415,39
April $395,62
May $11,12

Not a single one video sale!
*, this is frustrating!
This is bad!

« on: May 08, 2020, 08:51 »
We are heading into the worst recession of our lifetimes. Advertising spends are going to drop off massively. It takes a month for subscriptions to end, some may even have been downloading more last couple of weeks to make the most of their spend or to stock pile for the lean times ahead shielding us from the impact for a while.

Even facebook etc are reporting drops in ad revenue already.

If you think it's bad now wait a couple of months...
So, youre saying that the impact for contributors is just now starting to hit?
Sounds logic.
Do you also think that the market will see better days soon because everyone will need marketing/branding clips and images?

By the way, Im a Big supporter of SS, I think they, like us try to figure out how to keep this market alive.

I'm waiting for the same old replies like "it's the fierce competition", "your work just isn't good enough", "you lost touch with reality", "my sales are fantastic so everything is great", etc...

Those who want to teach this guy some lessons in stock keep in mind that he's talking about $100 a day, on SS alone, not $10 or $1. I have respect for all contributors because I feel for them, we're all in the same boat, well most of us anyway but I do not however have any respect for those who try to lecture others and have nothing to show for (portfolio/sales)

Don't expect any improvement Liorpt! It's a steep downhill for many of us but you must have already known this was coming. Expect some treats now and then to keep you happy and uploading but that's about it.

Take care!
Thanks for the support.
I wish all the comments here will be BME or solid sales or even normal because then Ill know that i can do something about it, adapt, change style/subject. I know how to adapt to trends and I love it when things are my problem cause its up to me to fix it or get lost. I reacted fast to Covid-19 and got nice sales instantly.

And when I said 100$ a day minimum I meant that even if you take Christmas Day, Labor Day, Easter and 4th of July, put them all on the same day that happens to be on a Sunday during Covid-19 and the entire WWW crash, I will still get at least 100$ a day on SS.

And lastly, its the lack of downloads that bother me, not the small income.

Thanks again for your support and I wish everyone here will get tons of sales, this will be a very very good sign for me.

I would like to add that P5 is completely dead for me with 2 sales so far
AS is lower in the same rate as SS
And Vimeo reports a month later so Im blind.

12K clips
6.5K images.

« on: May 08, 2020, 01:26 »
Hi,
8 days into May and its a whole new world of nothing for me. Its not too early to call because my clear bar is a minimum 100$ in sales every day on SS Alone, including weekends and holidays. Im aware of the new sub model and understand the impact on my earnings. But what I dont understand is the massive Drop in number of sales, its like everything stopped.
During Covid19 March and April sales kept coming and I assumed that with the new sub plan my earnings will take a hit but not my downloads and definitely not that bad.

Im on Stockperformer and I can tell that the entire market is taking a hit because even with my super low numbers my ranking is still in the top 25%, I learned to trust Stockperformer because even in my Best months I was still ranked at 82% meaning bigger earners were with me.

So whats going on? Is it because of Covid-19 slowdown? People are just not buying? Lack of budget?
Algorithm changes wouldnt pull everyone on Stockperformer down (the way I see it).

I would love to hear your thoughts about it, am I missing something?

How would you take these stats?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Where are those stats from? I haven't seen that before.

https://www.stockperformer.com/ a pay service that compares your sales to others who pay for the service. I don't think they can read data from companies, only members.

If that's true and only people who pay are included, then being in the top 15% is a good sign for Liorpt?

I think it is, I had an honest emailing with stockperformer and I believe they have a large database.
The way I see it, being in the top 15 is nice, but no one knows what part of the database is video/photo. So, technically if most of the members are photo dudes/girls and I sell 4 clips, no doubt Ill be at the top.

You are in the top 20% of all contributors. However you are in the top 10% in terms of uploads so you are one of the hard workers....if it were me I'd take it as a sign to concentrate more on quality over quantity.
True. Im glad that the gap is not bigger but I see your point.

Im currently in the process of letting stockperformer crunch all my numbers to get a slight hint to where I stand compered to other contributors. I do it once a year (9 euro fee). But no one knows whats the data base.

Bottom line, Im in panic mode, January is Super slow compared to years of January numbers.

I am seeing very low numbers in SS P5 and AS.
With 11K clips, 7K photos and on full income for years but this January (half way) looks very low.

Cut the race to the bottom and set fixed prices for all contributors 4K, HD and web.

My only wish for the entire industry.
