Amount of sales increased because other people are disabling their ports
Pure speculation

I stopped uploading new images. I will wait until the end of the month to have more accurate data. However, I noticed an absurd drop in sales. And the sales that are still happening, are from subscriptions 0.10. If it continues... by the end of the month I will disable my images. Sales are not increasing, they are falling.  :-\

Who did you write to? I wrote to compliance and got a very stock answer, like they didn't even read my question which was "doesn't anyone care about stolen works?"

I made the complaint in this email: '[email protected]'

And I received an email like this:

Infringement Claims / [email protected]

"Hello,

Thank you for writing in.

We take copyright infringement and theft very seriously. Please know that we are taking the necessary steps to investigate your claim to resolve this issue as quickly and efficiently as possible. Our Legal team and Content Management are currently reviewing the images, and will take further action if deemed appropriate.

Best Regards,

Shutterstock Compliance

Shutterstock Compliance"

Few days later the images of the ideas thief were deleted.
A few weeks later the guy made new copies. I made new complaints about new copies and the guy's account was deleted.
The guy found my private email and sent me an email begging me to talk to Shutterstock to reactivate his account.

Note:
This was years ago, I do not know how it is now.

Isn't there anything we can do about it? Who knows who took from whom?

Just send an email to Shutterstock exactly as it's being done here. link of the thief and the creator. I already did this with some of my pictures that were stolen. In few days Shutterstock will notify the thief and if he continues, they will delete his account.

And this don't need be only with stolen images. Very similar images, ideas, design, etc are also valid. I banish a guy with a portifolio bigger than mine, but because he copied the ideas from my most selling pictures. He was eliminated from Shutterstock.

Why did you answer no to SS question? You could have explained you DID create a second account for your aunt. But my question is: why did you have to create the account for her anyway? Is she not capable of doing it herself? Something's fishy about this.

The phrasing of your question is suspicious too; how did Shutterstock 'find out'? That implies you were trying to hide it.

Of course there is a problem.
Say "no" when you should have said "yes" (And explain the fact, which could be the reason for the suspension), for a simple question? It is because something wrong has.

Out of debt, out of danger

I already spent some time sending emails to the SS complaining about these portfolios with almost the same images. Do you know what they answered?

"If you do not like the images use the search filter."

Simple like that.
The SS is behind these portfolios.

This is ridiculous. A joke to be very honest.

The same problem here too and worse ... because of this, there are no sales. Could it have affected the buyers too?  :o

I would always chime in on DT sales threads to that they have been slowly growing sales wise for me over the years. Nothing crazy, but older files tended to sell there more and over time build their tiers. It was good balance for other sites where new files would sell then quickly disappear.

Then about August last year sales went through the floor and have stayed there. My December 2017 was half of December 2018 and January barely two thirds of last years. That is with constant uploads and increase in quality.

What did they do? Has anyone else experienced this? I have a mix of illustrations and photos, so also interested in illustrators' experience.

I've kept my sales at the same level for years. The end of last year and earlier this year are very very bad. It's first time so bad this way.   :(

i am curious, we cannot report it anywhere?

No. I made a complaint days ago about these spam images. They told me that if I did not like the repeated images or the images of a certain author, then I was supposed to do a search filter, even though I said that I am a contributor and not a buyer. It is sad and deplorable to see the course the SS is taking.

General - Top Sites / Re: How is this possible ?
« on: March 20, 2017, 15:55 »
I asked to the Shutterstock about this process of spamming images simple and practically the same as each other. And I mentioned my case in which I contribute for more than 10 years and I didn't reach 2600 images yet, adding (images + vector + videos) all together less than 2600 working hard all days. Being that only images gradient by the same author, surpassed the 2600 images, practically the same.

Well, let's see what the answer will be, if they will answer me.

That's nothing. Click "next page" at the bottom to see more than 400 of the same icon with slightly different color backgrounds. All uploaded and approved at the same time.

I really do not understand what's going on. Do what you want, it's OK.

I would recommend picking up the phone and giving them a call.  Their support team is fantastic and will assist you through the process, as well as answer any questions you may have.  A lot better than wondering why they're doing what they're doing! You can simply ask.

For the GraphicLeftovers

I have contacted you several times, asking to close my account and pay what I have to receive in my account. I sent several emails and I was never answered. For this reason I am here, in a post that has nothing to do with the subject. The images are mine, the money I have in my account is mine, I have my rights and I want to be respected in my decisions. I am sending an email for the third time, requesting the payment and deactivation of my account. Thanks!

The Graphic Leftovers replied my email today.
I got paid and my account was closed.
Thank you!  ;D

Image Sleuth / Re: Fiverr, the another gray market
« on: March 16, 2017, 22:42 »
Just had a few messages from him:

mehdycr: "Thanks for your advice , but i don't steal anything , i remove the watermark like any other service on fiverr .. "

Me: Removing the watermark means you haven't paid for the photos. You are making money off people like me who create the photos to sell on Shutterstock. Because fiverr can't be bothered to police things like this means you get away with it. Reported to Shutterstock.

so , should i stop this service ?

Yes you should stop and everyone who does this should stop but many probably wont because it's easy money. Doing graphics work for people is ok if it's your own work. I'm a graphic designer and wouldn't touch Fiverr because the so called clients want stuff for very little money. The last logo I did I charged 400, not 5! The client was happy. Value your work and don't support shite sites like Fiverr. Good luck.

yes i agree with you , i work a lot of time for just 5$ , but there's no alternative , !

There are alternatives, contact local print shops, design companies etc offering to do freelance work. You'll make a lot more money than on Fiverr. Back to work now, hope it works out, seriously. It's tough to make money in graphics these days (been doing it 40 years), partly because of sites like Fiverr offering cheap work lowering prices for everyone.

I had never heard of this site. I can not believe it. It's disheartening to work from years to years to make 1000 to 2000 images. Suddenly someone comes out of nowhere and starts selling his work without the slightest concern. I just can not believe it.

We have to put up with the bad payment by the agencies and now this. It really is disheartening to go on.

Makes me sick to my stomach ...

I have had several images copied and inspired by this idea-stealing.
It's sad, but we constantly have to keep watch over these evil characters.

I am still unable to save keywords.
I'm using Firefox.

Anyone else having the same problem?

Here...

I'm having the same problem. Almost two weeks trying to access my account. They say I need to change my password, but I have done this 3 times and the following message appears:  "We're sorry. Your account is not currently set up for the ESP access. Please contact us if you believe this is in error."

I tried accessing through firefox and chrome, I'm sure the problem is the ESP.

There's no denying that something different is happening. At least for me, I never had such a large drop in sales (-50%). Since 2006 my sales were growing and now suddenly a fall like that. Has nothing to do with new talent and bla bla bla... my sales were increasing at all microstocks including the SS until last month  >:(

Correcting my comment above. Except iStock and Fotolia, the SS was growing slowly since 2006. iStock and Fotolia since 2012 had a big gradual drop in sales until the end of 2014. Beginning 2015 my sales come back increased again (iStock and Fotolia) and Shutterstock in the same rhythm. Now July this abrupt fall only on SS...  :o

Indeed, sales go down, this is not good. Since 2006 I sell images on SS, this is the first time I'm seeing a significant drop. It's worrying... :o :(
