General Stock Discussion / Older model releases
« on: May 28, 2018, 15:22 »
Hi all,
i have a lot of model pics (5000+) with older iStock MRs which don't have visual IDs since they're old (2005-2011).
Many agencies reject my pics for MR issues.
How can i solve it?

Hi all,
i own a Fuji X-E1 with the nice 18-55 f2.8/4 which has in-lens stabilization (OIS).
I'm pretty happy with the results for general purposes but specifically for stock i found myself apply 90% of the times a post FCP X stabilization before exporting a clip and publish to the agencies.
Sometimes i also use Lock&load FCP X plugin which is faster.
Do you think i should switch to an in-camera stabilization camera such as Sony RX100 mkIII?
Do you think it should be better an in-camera stabilization instead of a in-lens stabilization to obtain good-enough results avoiding post-processing with FinalCutPro X?
How many of you stabilize always like me in post in addition of the in-camera or in-lens process?

Thanks in advance

p.s. i forgot to say i use camera without tripod because i'm in travel

Newbie Discussion / Re: Upload editorial and commercial?
« on: August 07, 2017, 10:10 »
Hi, i have a newb question! Can i upload the same picture 2 times (for SS for example)? 1 for editorial use and one for commercial use? Some of my pics will be good for both (commercial & editorial)...

thanks a lot!

Try selling the editorial version (not removing logos or trademarks) in Alamy or Getty

Keep in mind that editorial images have a much lower sale potential.
Personally I don't do editorial at all and consider it a waste of time: they never sell multiple times per file, while what I am looking for are best sellers that sell over and over. Others will probably disagree with this

That is not quite true. And how would you know if you don't do editorial? They might have lower sales potential but they are not a waste of time.

Several of the Pond5 all-time bestsellers are editorial clips. That means MANY sales. Many of my 4k sales have been editorial. I just wish more sites would accept editorial clips.

There are so many uses for editorial clips - not everything produced is a commercial.

This is "micro".
Macro works another way while some Editorials do make $$$$ per month alone

My position is RF for images you could have taken everywhere (focused, close-in) and RM for the others.

great advices and considerations guys.
it seems the best way to go on is a compromise of all your comments, like uploading more, better keywording, not come back to exclusive IS and start uploading to P5 for videos.

General - Top Sites / Which agencies and what
« on: February 09, 2016, 07:28 »
Hi all,
since 3 months i disabled my IS exclusive agreement (pictures) and became indie.
Then i started uploading to SS, FT, DT, 123RF for RF and Alamy for RM.
I know 3 months is not so much time but what i saw it's a credit sales dls half of before when i was exclusive on IS and a lot of subs on the other agencies (which btw collect few $$$ all together).
At the moment i have 1500+ images on IS, 200+ images on DT,FT and 500+ images on 123RF. I also started two weeks ago on Alamy with 150 imgs.
What do you suggest to quickly improve sales?
I am not sure that increasing my port on every agencies will lead in fast revenues., so i thought to:
1) disable my pics on SS,DT, 123RF and FT
2) exclusive again on iS (which was 100$/month without any S+ collection pics and without videos uploaded to GI)
3) increase my video port on FT, SS and....
4)... publish tons of my quality editorials to Alamy which has large monthly gross

This way i'll publish my editorials only to Alamy, my commercial RF to IS only and videos only to SS/FT (with some videos exclusive on FT).
What do you think? Could it work in an acceptable time? (6 months)
