General Stock Discussion / Re: recommended video sites?
« on: July 02, 2021, 13:54 »
i'd stay away from istock...from my 1year test i can say that all the clips that i sold through istock suddendly lost traction(sales) on adobe pond5 and ss...so in my opinion it doesn't worth to sell on istock for 3$ and lose part of those sales where other agencies pay you better

Is there anyone else who backs up this argument?

Sure...

Envato Elements   24.29%
StoryBlocks           15.34%
Motion Array           12.80%
Pond5                   10.44%
BlackBox                     7.83%
iStock                     5.30%
VideoHive                     4.09%
Shutterstock             2.17%
Adobe                     2.08%

There's also 1.5% from five different agencies, I no longer submit to those. The remaining 14% or so, is from After Effects projects and 3D assets so I've not listed those. Not yet had any sales yet this year from 123RF or ClipCanvas...so they're at 0%. Don't submit to those any more either.

Thank you very much. It is a very different picture than i would guess

Motion Array as above. I get a minimal return from Motion Elements. I find their submission process annoying though, for reasons I can't remember (as it's been so long ago when I last uploaded there)... so I don't have a massive portfolio with them.

Videohive are worth a go, especially now you can set your own prices, and being on Elements can give quite a boost to your earnings as well.

Storyblocks have been surprisingly good... earnings have been steadily increasing for the past couple of years.

iStock. Low sale prices and everything lower commissions, but hey... in for a penny in for a pound. You can make it up in number of sales.

I'd avoid clipdealer, clipcanvas, dreamstime, 123RF and depositphotos... I get sales once in a blue moon. Or not at all.

Do you mind sharing rough percentages of your video income that the agencies holds? I am thinking about adding videohive to my list but i am not sure if it is really worth the effort.

Hello Mat,

I made a few test searches assuming mostly done in Turkey.

First i tried a summer town in Turkey called "alacati".
United States region search result: 1633 images
Turkey region search result: 2

Second one is a local dessert called "asure"
United States region search result: 924 images
Turkey region search result: 0

Could you please tell us how Adobe will grow in these new regions with hiding almost all relative local images?

After reading Adobe's announcement, i wanted to measure the demand of free photo sites.

I used similarweb.com for my quick search. According to similarweb.com; unsplash.com had 34.4 million, pixabay had 40.87 million and pexels.com had 27.17 million visitors between august 20th and september 20th.

In the same time period; dreamstime had 23.36, istockphoto had 31.83, pond5 had 2.14 and shutterstock had 67.63 million visitors.

I just wanted to leave this note here in case anyone is curious.

@MatHayward

Is there any download limit per day/week? Can someone download all 70.000 assets without any time limit if they want?

Hello,

Do you think Adobe will change their editorial policy and start image exclusive program? After shutterstock's fiasco I have been waiting for such a move from Adobe but they have been silent.

What do you think? Would you go exclusive with Adobe?

10
Wow. Thank-you!

Thanks to whoever did this! 👍🏻

Same here. I disabled my images on june 3rd and had a sale this morning.

They asked my permission to sell a video and i told them "no" in the middle of june but i had no email for this sale.

Pond5 / Re: Why is it so painful to upload to Pond5?

I routinely upload to P5 from my Mac via Fetch, both stills and videos. Never had any problem with it.

same here. never had a problem with fetch.

I dont what but there is something fishy going on about the numbers.

I checked Iakov Filimonovs (he deactivated his port some time a go) page yesterday and there were 200K files online. Today it shows 6k online.

Is there any way shutterstock activates and deactivates portfolis time to time to manipulate the numbers?

I dont know what it takes for you guys to wake up and take a stand. Its as if you are desperately trying to hang on until the very end. Deep down you know its game over there.
The longer we wait the less we will succeed supporting other agencies and recuperating those lost earnings. It will take time anyway no matter what because other agencies have yet to up it another notch. Jump ship (Titanic) while it still makes sense!

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Stock release UI improvement
« on: June 25, 2020, 09:48 »
Wow, thanks for the link. So, in future, we should just trim 1 keyword from the 50 keywords?

I have always been arranging the top 7-10 keywords but with a total of 50 keywords. So that means all my hard works have gone down to the drain?

And what if I go back and trim 1 keyword from all my previous images, will that help?

You didn't ask, but image rank is set after 30 days. Changing words can help, if they are better words. That's useful on any site. Better more specific, accurate words.

How about changing the order of keywords after 30 days? Did they say anything about it?

Africa Studio's deactivation is a big news! I wondering how other big accounts will react to this.  It's getting exciting :)

i disabled 4000 images and 1000 videos. I know it is just a drop. But every drop matters.

I invite everyone to join the movement at least for sometime that you can afford.

« on: June 05, 2020, 08:43 »
It was close to 326,5 millons a week a go. Despite thousands of images added every day, whole archive is around 2,5 millions less now. I guess around 3 million assets disabled in one week on image side.

25
I disabled my videos and will go for exclusivity on pond5 as soon as shutterstock clears all my videos.
