If you had found the clients yourself, why wouldn't you sell direct? If they didn't do any work in finding the buyers, why should your agency get the majority of the sale value? There might be a couple of issues which might or might not apply in your case, but at least consider direct selling.
It's a small project and I do not want to set up a company at the moment. On the other hand, the client needs invoice for its records. This is the reason why I want to use the agency.

Can I reffer a client to download from my portfolio or this is viewed by agencies as artificially inflating downloads?
Thanks

What about editorial pictures? I think is a good idea to share them on Twitter and to use relevant hashtags!

increase earnings: no
increase your wasted time: a lot
I wouldn't be so sure! In the end, it's a SEO matter. More views of a photo may improve also the visibility on the search results page.

Sometimes I get a screenshot of an agency backend back with my sale (so all is fine), sometimes I get answers like (sorry, we found this image on Google). They get mail from my lawyer then, if they are based in a country where we can successfully file a case.
When they provide you with the screenshot, you can check the date of the download? I ask this question because they may try to make a legitim purchase afterwords.

I don't understand why your "attack" is so specific to Fotolia
In my case, all my images without watermark on Google Images come from Fotolia...

If there is a watermark, designers can easily remove it with Photoshop if they want
This can be proven and designers may not argue anymore that it was an innocent infringment.

Wow, that's pretty ignorant. I can think of about 1,000 common uses for images that size. Every single blog for example.
I use images smaller than that for promoting other things I sell.
I definitely agree with you. There are tons of websites that uses thumnails, for instance in rss feeds, in order to gain traffic and do not have a larger image in the main article!

Reply from Fotolia Hi there,
The preview thumbnails contain no watermark because the resolution is not high enough for those images to be usable in full/definitive projects. Clients usually work with low res. copies of the file and purchase the high resolution copy when satisfied with the final result.

Fotolia removed the watermark on thumbnails?
I don't remember any watermark on the thumbnails.
.....
So, where is the problem?
You are wrong! Here is an older thumbnail from Fotolia! It bears the watermark and the id no.

I've filed a complaint with Fotolia's Support and I strongly encourage you to do so, because our images are vulnarable to copyright infringment.

I noticed that the thumbnails (on contributors' portfolio page) do not bear anymore the Fotolia's watermark. They have the large side ~ 450px and are indexed by Google Images so they may be used by anyone without paying a penny Is this a technical issue or a permanent decision from Fotolia? See as exemple (also attached): https://eu.fotolia.com/p/204629611 (prinscreen attached)
