General - Stock Video / 123RF for fooage?
« on: June 04, 2019, 02:13 »
Hey all,
I've been selling footage in the last 3 years, started at SS, then at P5, Fotolia -> Adobe, Depositephotos and Storyblocks.
So at the last 18 months I had zero sales at Storyblocks, whats up with that? someone knows?
I decided to stop uploading there and was considering 123RF.
I saw that the uploading system is quite old and it's going to be a bit of a hassle.
Does anybody has some good experience over there?
Thanks!

General - Stock Video / Re: 4K vs HD
« on: May 08, 2019, 02:57 »
A few years back, some random dude asked himself the same question for moving from SD to HD.
In some years from now 4K will be the standard. How many years? I'm guessing around 5-7.
I shot only 4K, even if it complex the post production process, as I hope that the materials that I'm shooting will be still relevant when HD fades away.

General - Stock Video / The Exclusive Math
« on: April 10, 2019, 04:03 »
Hey all,
So as there is a lot of discussion regarding the P5 Exclusive program, which I really feel is kind of a scam.
Are there are really contributes who believe that P5E sales can be greater than all other stocks combined?

60% P5 sales > 30% of All other stocks sales (including the P5 40%)? Who would go for it?

It's not only P5. ISE, the new Vimeo stock, and some other stocks, does any of them has the economic power for convincing contributes to be exclusive?
I've been selling stocks for 3 years now and I just don't see it. They all share the market, and for me, different shots are being sold in the different stocks.
The way the market looks like (referring also the the polls in here), it has no sense for contributes at all.
Maybe for new contributors? That doesn't know sh*t?
It does make sense for P5, that in a very impressive rhetoric phrasing (soooo American) have reduced our cut from 50% to 40%, using the exclusive program as a huge fig leaf.
Personally I don't care, it's business and 40% is still fine, just leave us from the exclusive BS.
A stock that REALLY wants to help contributes ? Refer your energy in bringing us more sales, this is why you take 60-70% commission, right?

I've been selling for 3 years now, and I can assure you that your sense of an "authentic" shot is irrelevant.
As a noob, the stock algorithm is against you, but you can boost exposer and sells by being more attractive with your pricing.
For me, this advise is only relevant to Pond5.
I've tried to sell my footage there just as you mentioned - with the pricing I believed reflected their value.
After a year of almost zero sells, I lowered the prices and immediately got a sales boost.
After that, shots that are being sold well can get a higher price.

Hey all,
I've been selling green screen footage for the past 2 years and I recently thought of uploading some of my clips as transparent files with alpha channel.
I've tried QuickTime animation and Proress codecs, but for a 1-minute 4K file, it seems to exceeds the 4GB SS limit.
So I saw there is a PNG option but I can't really understand how do they want it. When I export a PNG sequence I get a folder with many files, that SS does not accept. I can't see any video format that accepts PNG as a codec.
What am I missing?
Somebody here has any experience in this field?

AP for stabilization? it is not really a competition for AE. If you are into it - I would recommend using Devinci which have the most up to date 1 click stabilization feature, and the best grading options. It is more complicated, but not too much, just some hours of youtube guides.
