General Stock Discussion / Re: More "Make Money" Silliness
« on: May 26, 2011, 07:56 »
Oh my..I've been out and about trying to take stock photos good enough to sell, sometimes struggling to come up with ideas and the whole time the answer was to simply take photos of my backyard doh! I could have been rich by now if I only knew  :D

Well I guess I have to open new tabs to avoid the issue, but it looks like I'm not the only one...don't understand why some people are having this issue and others not though.

I've been a member of shutterstock for a while now and have been getting annoyed when I sign into submit.shuttershock.com then go to view my portfolio or search other images on the site the site logs my account out, having to either hit the back button to stay logged in or click "sign in" again.

I thought shutterstock would have fixed this by now but maybe other people aren't having the same problem, any thoughts?

In my experience 30 sec exposures have given me very slight streaking due to the rotation of the earth, which would be the same in these videos, unless you use a star tracker. Due to these being videos im guessing it is hardly noticeable. But someone else may have better info

If you look at the video screenshot above that I posted of "The Mountain" you can see this streaking, mainly visable on the left hand side of the sky

Wow, that's amazing! How does one capture so much light from the sky?

I've done some astrophotograpghy, well just a few shots but basically they are just long exposures of say 30secs to bring out the stars...one exposure after the other and pieced together to create a movie.

Very good video and some nice locations, I still like "The Mountain" by Terje Sorgjerd, he did some great locations, featuring the milkyway as the backdrop

Back to the original theme

I have noticed that in the last few years female actresses no longer refer to themselves as actresses but as actors . . . . .  when did this change? Has it always been like that and I didn't notice?

I think the word actor is gender neutral..but I think you are right that it is becoming more common for females to be called actors

Bigstock.com / Pending Approval editing
« on: May 10, 2011, 09:59 »
I know people have posted on this and I was considering replying to that post but it was a few years back (2008)....

I just have to vent my frustration at the fact you can not edit image details after you have submitted for approval. I was editing some files just now, I bulk selected categories for 4 images together (similar content) then before I submitted went back to fill in descriptions etc, I failed to realise that the software Bigstock uses changed (rather added) an extra category which was not related in the slightest. Luckily I did catch on to this after a couple of images but this only going to increase my rejected pile of images and affect my upload limits

I think this feature should be changed..I realise I did this and it was my fault but I cannot be the only one. It is so simple to screw things up sometimes :-\

Frustration now Vented!

Wow, I didn't realise how many people would post replies on this topic... I thought it was just a funny mistake I found but looks like I've started a decent discussion...

I was just browsing Dreamstime and decided to review the terms for extended licenses, under "Sell the Rights (SR-EL):" it is stated that "The photographer is required to disable the file permanently from all other places where HE may sell it"

I don't think this is a big problem but I found it rather funny and thought I'd share my discovery

P.S I'm a male so I guess I have to follow those terms..*

Just wanted to say hi to fellow newbies here at the forums, I've been a reader for a while and decided to sign up. I'm from Perth Australia and looking forward to posting more. I've been in microstock for a couple of years but have never taken in seriously until now really, lets see how we go trying to make a few bucks
