Adobe Stock / Re: sales on FT since search engine change?
« on: May 12, 2008, 08:45 »
My current sales this month are 20% of the last months average sales.
And current acceptance level is the worst I ever had.
Seven days rank is sinking, it means many people is doing much better.
Where is the old time fotolia???

I find Mitz's tutorial very usefull, cos they go straight to the point without waste of time.
Obviously they are not for ps pros with 12 years experience, I m sure they are able to make much better job, and I m sure we all are waiting to see it ....

Adobe Stock / Terrible week at Fotolia
« on: February 25, 2008, 08:24 »
Suddenly I had my worst week at Fotolia in many, many months after a long period of regular and constant sales. Dls and earning close to zero. Someone had the same drop?

Bigstock.com / Re: Bigstock on the move
« on: February 08, 2008, 17:18 »
Yes madelaide, this is the point, they can deny u to delete the image and u could lose a 10000 dollars exclusive buyout (i dont think it will happen to me in the next 15 years)
it rises another important question: which sites offers buyers exclusive buyout option? are the buyer going to contact the agency to reach an agreement about the price? or it can happen as a normal transaction without interaction between the buyer, the agency and the seller? i know, i should read the legal statement of the agencies.... sure i will one day...

I have one doubt about bigstock, I read on thier site u can't remove images for 90 days. What if an exclusive buyout happens on another site for an image u have on bigstock too?

Photoshop Discussion / Re: Posterization problems
« on: December 19, 2007, 16:25 »
I m using D80 and I never had this kind on problem so far.
I expose to the right as sharply_done says (great advice to reduce noise too), I convert with ACR or Nikon Capture NX in 16 bit tiff with Adobe RGB color space and then save as jpg 8 bit minimum compression.
I hope this can help you

Just 150 images, quite small I know and not of great quality as yours, but usually with regular sales in the last two month

General - Top Sites / Re: Site Productivity
« on: November 30, 2007, 08:14 »
I think there is another variable we should consider: the acceptance rate.
If i produce 100 images and one site rejects 60, those 60 will never sell but i have spent time (and money) to produce them, so my earnings should be calculated relative to all 100 images (all the work i have done).
Anyway it is true that the contributor should minimize rejections improving quality and optimizing for every site...
What is your opinion?

General Stock Discussion / Re: The Future Of Microstock
« on: November 27, 2007, 15:49 »
My ideas are:
1) there will be much more professional photographers in microstock industry, so it will be more difficult for hobbist to sell their work;
2) there will be higher quality standards and higher image resolution (we are seeing it already), and so higher costs for equiment;
3) there will be more specialized agencies for specific subjects: business, people, technology, nature, and so on;
4) price will not be reduced (example: computers are much more powerfull compared with 5 years ago, but they don't sell pc for 50 dollars);
5) originality and creativity will be much more important; customer will go for new ideas and news styles, not always the classic obvious stock image
6) there will be more space for "artist" than for "perfectly isolated on white background"
Maybe i m just saying obvious things, or maybe completely wrong ones, i m just a beginner, just trying to understand the trend

Shutterstock.com / Re: Resubmission at Shutterstock
« on: November 24, 2007, 10:47 »
hi everybody,
I had 2 batches of 10 rejected before being accepted at shutterstock (10/10 rejected in the first and second try).
Are they considered "true" rejection?
May i resubmit with minor changes?
Should I write a note for the reviewer?
Or maybe is it better forget those old images to avoid warnings? (some of them are good sellers)
What is your experience about this kind of situation?

« on: October 16, 2007, 02:56 »
I think u r right, lightroom has its own database and u need to export the images if u want to view and edit them with other application.
This have advantages too: less disk space usage and (maybe) better performance
