I wonder if Getty really believes that this is a good approach to compete with SS...

Getty isn't inventing the wheel here. They basically took JIU, re-branded it Thinkstock (A great RF brand Jupiter killed) and lowered commissions.

StockXpert accepts up to 10 000 pixels on the long side.

StockXpert payments are all done manually. There's no database, automated transfer that happens. Basically if you put in a payment request, it shows up with your info and the amount due. then one person is in charge of putting through the payment. So if he can only submit 10 payments a day and 300 requests come in at the same time......well you get my drift.

I am looking at buying a 40D but am concerned about it's small image size. In general, what filesize is your most popular download?
Sorry, meant Nikon D40

A good trick is not to upload all of your images at once.
If you have a big batch of images upload them in parts every week. This way your stuff will show up first in most search results.

LOL Flickr is not a stock agency. Never put your stock images on Flickr!!! Why somebody will buy your images If they are free on Flickr.

I agree!

StockXpert.com / Re: POLL: StockXpert Opt-in
« on: August 14, 2008, 18:51 »
Before making a definite decision I will also need to know if they're going to put any kind of ridiculous time limitation (like Albumo) on leaving your images on either StockXpert or Photos.com.  I'll never agree to that kind of nonsense again.  :D

Having a timeline does make sense for the buyer. One day they have images which they showcase to their clients for a certain price then the next that same image is only available as a PPD for twice that price does not make sense as a business stand of view.

The EULA on Photos.com plus will be basically be the same as the one on StockXpert. If you were signed up for subs on StockXpert before the move to Photos.com, why would you sign out if the conditions are the same?

I turned off subs as soon as they offered an opt out but I see some of the big portfolios are still opted in.  It would of been nice to know what iophoto, andesr and yuri think of this.  They have all posted here at times but perhaps they are all busy.

Why not make the decision for yourself? Maybe opting in for the time being and testing the waters out for a few months might not be such a bad thing.
Of course this is my opinion.

StockXpert.com / Re: Mass rejections at StockXpert
« on: August 13, 2008, 18:51 »
StockXpert has a bunch of really hard working Editors (reviewers) and they are doing a great job. They've come a long way from their text book ways.
They are extremely conscientious of trends and what sells as well as having an open mind.

Says the StockXpert employee...

Images that sell WELL on other sites are being rejected. How is that knowing what sells and what trends are?

I'm not saying they don't work hard, I'm just saying they are human beings who make decisions based on personal reasons which does not serve StockXpert or contributors.  Unless something is just total pure crap, nobody should pass judgment on whether or not something is salable (I've even seen a lot of crap that sells).

Images rejected should only be rejected for technical reasons (pixelation, focus, lighting, etc..) and not because somebody thinks they know what will sell and what won't.  If reviewers at StockXpert really knew that info, StockXpert would be selling a lot more and would be on top of the industry, which it's not.

You completely missed the point of my post where I was trying to explain why there were less rejections. I am sure you are seeing less if any, rejections for "we are not interested in this".

I totally disagree that images should solely be judged on quality for various reasons and so does most stock sites; not just StockXpert.

By the way dnavarrojr, how many of your images were rejected on StockXpert for because they were not interested in your content?

StockXpert.com / Re: StockXpert Model Release
« on: August 13, 2008, 11:29 »
I am sorry to bother you, but I am not able to find their MR form... Can anybody show me where to look? Or may I use a signed form of another agency? Thank you.

You can find the releases here:  http://www.stockxpert.com/info.phtml?f=help&s=11_4
And yes you can use other releases as long as they contain the photographer's name, model's printed name and signature (adult name and signature if a minor) as well as a witness print name and signature which is different from the model and photographer.

Is is not possible to fix exposure in PS, without the need to return back to a shooting location? Especially, if the location is on some other continent.

If you are shooting Raws and using PS3, there is always a way to better your image without destroying the quality.
