Does anyone know if sales from Dribble are reflected on Creative Market or do they have to be requested from Dribble?

Hi,
does anyone know if it will affect payment from any of the stock sites if i change my Paypal primary currency from dollars to euros? I need to change this because of a website i sell music records and cd's. On some of the stock sites i receive payment in dollars, on others i receive payment in euros and british pounds. I signed up to most of the stock sites more than 10 years ago and can't remember well but i think on some it was advised that the primary currency should be in dollars to receive payment.

Sorry for the off-topic but does Canva accept video? I see mp4 as an option on the web uploader.

Great news! When the pandemic started i was expecting agencies to react with some sort of bonus to contributors. Hopefully more will follow DT's example.

There are no worker's rights in this business. Agencies don't pay, agencies cut earnings, agencies don't report sales and there's nothing we can do, take it or leave it. The sad part is that the same agencies present themselves as politically correct on all aspects except respecting the people that work for them.

Off Topic / Re: Global Warming is causing the Polar Vortex ???

We've gotten so much rain in California in the last few months that people has finally shut up about blaming global warming for everything.

When ice melts, water evaporates and there will be more rain. Scientists have said we should expect more rain due to global warming.

Well i'm just a stock photographer but yes, that's how i understand it. It gets colder where you live because it is warmer somewhere else. It's like the chaos theory with the butterfly etc. When in Saudi Arabia they have heatwave for months that means the earth temperature rises and so melts the ice on the poles causing colder winters in areas close to the ice like Canada in your example.

Logic fails when one person, which is why I started this, claims that global warming, causes colder Winter events.

I tried to explain this with the ice and glass of water example. When the icebergs melt the ocean will become colder and cold oceans make for colder winters. When all the ice melts then the water will start getting hot.

Of course the earth is not a glass of water with ice and is much more unpredictable.

"I'm just pointing to an interesting contradiction, that warming causes cooling"

A very simplified way to look at this is that it's like what happens on a much smaller scale with a glass of water with ice on a hot summer day. First the water will become very cold as the ice melts and then will start getting warmer and warmer.

Thanks for sharing. Looks like more of a good thing to me. Ok it will render watermarks obsolete but other than that it's impressive technology we will all use.

Over a year for me and no payment and no reply. If Leaf is reading please remove the Clipdealer link from the right so no more people get scammed.

StockFresh / Issue with black and white photos preview?
« on: November 13, 2016, 11:26 »
There seems to be an issue with the way black and white photos are displayed on the preview on Stockfresh. My images look a lot brighter than the original files. Anyone else?

Hi, wondering if any of the sites provide some sort of photographer ID for us? Can be useful in many situations.

Canon / Re: Anyone else not happy with the 5D MIII?
« on: December 23, 2015, 14:21 »
...not happy with outside focus, contrast and low light grain. I just can understand what is going on. In some cases my 60D does better than the MIII.

A bit off topic as i use Nikon but i have the same problems with 24mp Nikons. I changed two in the last year both 24mp and the focus is soft when using the viefinder. It's better with live view. Also the Scene settings work better on Live View. I didn't have these problems on 12mp cameras. I checked the forums and it seems that a lot of people complain about focus on 24mp cameras both Canon and Nikon. They suggest shooting Live View but that is really not ideal for me.

Found on sale at Sears.  Try to find one better than this!  (At least it isn't a self portrait!)

Haha, is this is the new Marcel Duchamp? Nice find!

Newbie Discussion / Re: Canon 600d or nikon d3200
« on: December 04, 2015, 14:03 »
I don't know about Canon but if you decide to buy Nikon i would suggest looking at the 5000 series (d5000, d5200, d5300 etc) as it is better for stock compared to the 3000 series.

Off Topic / Re: GO Greece!
« on: July 21, 2015, 10:33 »
Guys, i think it's time to let go of the whole Greece VS Germany thing. Just because populist politicians and media in both countries want to put the blame for Greece's problems to Germany and vice versa doesn't mean that they are right. We as educated individuals working in an international environment know best and we should not embrace populism.

There are many populist anti-EU parties on the rise in Europe at the moment, very similar to Syriza and ANEL which govern Greece at the moment so keep that in mind the next time you vote and vote responsibly.

All I know is it used to be a cheap holiday in Greece when they had the Drachma and I presume they were making more from the tourists that went there instead of more expensive places?  So it must make some difference?

But how are greeks going to buy goods from europe with drachmas? We would have to work all summer with people coming for cheap holidays just to buy in return a new fridge, tv, computer and video camera!

How will someone repay a loan he took in euros to invest in a small apartments to rent tourism company when he has to repay in drachmas? Impossible.

I'm Greek and i feel the current government is irresponsible towards greek people who willingly or not made big sacrifices for 5 years and they are irresponsible towards the rest of Europe and european people who trusted us us their hard earned money.

We needed just 1 million in reforms before Tsipras took over and now after 6 months of "negotiations" and delay we need 8 millions in reforms.

If SS would give a raise now it would be a further incentive to focus more on SS and dry out the competition. They could achieve finally a total market domination. As such, it would make perfectly sense.

Yes, i also think it could work this way. A generous raise from SS at this point could damage a lot of the low earners trying to sell subscriptions, newcomers to subscriptions and DPC. Why buy a competitors site to close it down when you can drive them out of the market by keeping the contributors happy!

Pond5 / Re: hundreds of sales today on P5/Pixmac
« on: July 29, 2014, 14:46 »
Congrats for the nice sales PB!

I'm a little confused, do we have to request payment from pixmac or they pay automatically through pond5? Hadn't checked since they were bought by pond5 and now i see i have enough for a payout. Would never have checked if it wasn't for this thread i thought everything migrated to pond5. Do you still upload to pixmac or is that taken care of by pond5?

Never heard of them but there are some interesting points in the article.

I think however that we don't need a spotify for stock but a bandcamp. People who are serious about music prefer bandcamp because they can download directly from the artist/label and they have a choice between mp3/flac and many other formats, real innovation not just cheap streaming like spotify. Most indie labels reacted to spotify feeling ripped off but are embrassing bandcamp and sell CD's and digital formats through them.

In our world that would mean that we can upload and sell directly, set price, sell a whole series or a single photo, automatcially offer jpg, tif or any other format and size needed by the customer at no extra charge. We are still missing a site like that, that would act not as a stock agency but as a place to sell direct at the price we want and offer product that is tempting to those that care about stock the most, serious clients that love photography.
