iStockPhoto.com / Photo+ commission reduced

Hi everyone,

I noticed that since the end of July, my iS commission on P+ files has dropped from about 3.6$ for L size to 2.6$ and for M size respectively. I sent an email and they responded that it is normal but without stating if there is a drop in commission or the prices have fallen in general. I'm pretty sad about that since it means less earnings.

Thanks Paulie! I shall keep in mind these things. I feel better now that I know that are others with the same dilemma as me. Thought I had misunderstood the whole thing!
Good luck to your sales everyone! Thanks again for your time!

I understand that the point is "Generic" photos go to micro and "Special" to Getty. The thing is that Getty asked for images like this one http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/photo/small-plant-on-pile-of-dirt-royalty-free-image/141249909 that I had it on various micros and sold well. I "transferred" it to Getty and no sales since!

Unfortunately the fact that I am in Getty through flickr does not give me the benefit of choosing if one of my photos will be RM or RF. It is determined by the curators.

Thank you for your time and please excuse my English.

General - Top Sites / Microstock or Getty ?
« on: May 08, 2012, 03:32 »
Hi everyone!

I am an amateur photographer who's trying to earn some extra cash from stock photography. It's been a year that I am active on various microstock sites such as Shutterstock, iStock , Fotolia & Dreamstime. But at the same time I managed to get into Getty through flickr. From the microstock sites I have managed to earn some 350$. Getty has given me about 200$. Problem is that sometimes Getty asks for the same photos that are good sellers on microstock and so I am forced to remove them and wish they sale on Getty.
I would like to have your opinion on where I should give focus.
My porfolio on Getty is this :

and on SS,iS etc is this :

Thank you in advance for your time!

Shutterstock.com / Sudden March drop sales
« on: March 13, 2012, 10:43 »
Hi everyone,
I am a new contributor to SS (less than a year) and my sales started raising exponentially from this January. I had 2 to 3 downloads every day with a portfolio of no more than 90 pictures. But on March, sales have tanked big time. Today is the third consecutive day that I had no sales at all. Anyone noticed something similar ???

The only thing that changed in the last 10 days, is that I emailed them about a case where some of my vectors were found on various sites as free (e.g. vectorfinder) I don't know if is relevant or not, just though I should mention it.

Cheers!

Thanks a lot guys for your helpful replies. What I actually did, was to email SS whichis the main site I sell these vectors and let them know the situation. I believe that since they lose more money than I do (my commission is 20% of the sales) they would be more involved.
Hope it works.
Thanks again for your time.

Thanks for the reply, but another question just stroke my head! How can I actually prove that these files are originally mine since they are EPS ?

Thanks,

Image Sleuth / Stolen vectors
« on: February 29, 2012, 10:13 »
Hi !
I just did a Google search for my images and I found with big disappointment that three of my best selling vectors have been stolen. To be more specific, my vector is http://www.shutterstock.com/pic.mhtml?id=94566715 and I found that it is sold at this site http://www.2muchvector.com/viewitem.php?ItemID=1183 with an addition on it. Others are on various sites that you can download the eps files for free.

They are leaked at this site http://www.flowervector.com/ also.
On this site, one of my best selling files has more than 5000 DLs. http://www.vector-finder.com/Free-Downloads.asp?id=1856

Any help please? I am a new contributor and I feel that my work is stolen already. I also noticed some decline on these specific sales but maybe I am wrong on that one. Is there any way we can protect from theft ?

Thanks a lot for your time!
Elias

I have 40 downloads this month (my portfolio is only 50+ images) and they are ALL subscription! Not a lot of money earned! Though I must admit the number of DLs has increased rapidly!

« on: January 17, 2012, 03:24 »
Actually what happened was that I emailed them the problem, all batches were approved in an hour and after a couple of hours they replied that they don't see anything in the inspection queue (naturally) !! Well, I swear I am clean for over a year !!!  ;)
Thanks for your input.
Cheers!

Hi everybody!
I have noticed some delay on SS approval time. I have batches been in queue from the 8th of January. And my "batches" are usually of no more than 3 photos. Has anyone else noticed this delay ?

Thanks.
