iStockPhoto.com / Please Help!
« on: June 12, 2019, 13:08 »
I have a couple of thousand photos on iStock. Tonight I logged in for the first time in perhaps two or three years to see how much money I have and perhaps request a payout.
Well, the website is not nearly the way it was last time I visited, and I simply can't manage to get to where I can see my earnings and get a payout. I saw they have an app now, so i downloaded the app on my phone. There I can see that I've had numerous sales, but I can't get the amount in my account. On the website I can't even find my portfolio. Can someone please give me instructions how to navigate my way on the website to request a payout, and perhaps how to get to the tax centre, because I suppose I will have to complete a new tax form before I can get a payout.

I'm not registered with Stockfresh. Is it worth uploading there?

Well, I just had a look at my stats from the past: My January 2015 income from Shutterstock is about one quarter of that from January 2011, and one third of that from January 2010, 2009 and 2008. I then had a fraction of the photos I have online now.

Hi Chris
I have photos on 17 sites, and I'm thinking of joining some more. At some sites I do well, at other's I hardly sell anything. Shutterstock is by for the best, I make about 70% of all my money there. I've been with them for 8 years now. iStock used to do very well, but lately almost all the sales with them are subs. Dreamstime also used to do good, but there has been a huge drop in sales lately.
As for uploads, I use FileZilla, after I added keywords in Photoshop. I used to hop from site to site, but at this stage I upload to one site for a month, and then next month another site. That also have its negatives. With some sites it seems to have an influence on where your files show in the search. November I did Shutterstock, December iStock and this month I'm uploading to Bigstock. (I actually find uploading to Bigstock very fast and easy). I can already see a slump at Shutterstock because I haven't uploaded there for almost two months. Some images also do better at some sites than other. At Yaymicro, where I have a very small portfolio, editorials sell much much better than other photos.

I actually had a pay out in December!
Since then $1-30 of sales. I haven't uploaded anything since 2010. I have just over 300 photos there, but decided it was not worth uploading any further. I won't close my account, its nice to get a pay out every couple of years.

I've had 3 sales for December, from a portfolio of 1700. Same sales as back in 2007 when I had 10 photos in my portfolio. At least I get something from partner sales.
But is it the same for exclusive members? I was wondering if the search perhaps favours exclusives in such a way that the other photos are buried so deep that no one sees it.

I'm at exactly 10% of my total for October, also 10% of my total for September.  :'(

« on: October 21, 2014, 23:07 »
Odd, I try to upload on Friday or weekends, because the images go live on Monday. But if more people would avoid Weekends, I'd be even happier, because less new competition at the start of the week.

Or are you trying to say, weekend reviewers are different than weekday reviews?

I can't explain it, but I seem to get rejections only on weekends!

11
This poll doesn't work for me, I will need way more than 40,000 photos!

I avoid uploading op Thursday and Friday, because I see more rejections on files reviewed over weekend. This week I got it really bad. I have a more than 90% acceptance rate at Shutterstock. This week however I had a batch of more than 30 photos rejected, all for the same reason: Out of focus or blurry. I took the photos on different times, different locations, using different cameras and lenses. Al the photos have two things in common: 1) I was the photographer; and 2) they are 100% sharp and in focus. After 7 years with SS something like this has never happened to me. I still don't know what I'm going to do, perhaps I will resubmit with a note to the reviewer that there must have been a technical problem with the first review - that is all I can think must have happened.

LOL My downloads per image: 0.05.
I wonder if they will pay out my money if I leave.
Not much though . . .

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Exclusive member and increase in sales
« on: January 03, 2014, 01:20 »
Sky, what was the effect of your exclusive membership to iStock? Was it worth going exclusive?

15
That explains the average of one euro I get from Getty though Zoonar a month. On the other hand, photos delivered by Zoonar to Age gives me a very reasonable income - about double I get from Shutterstock with half the number of photos.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Repeated Sales of Single Image
« on: June 29, 2012, 11:43 »
The sales are hugely influenced by how often buyers see it, and that is influenced by sales. Sometimes an image will go on for ages, and sometimes it will disappear after a while. My best seller has sold 449 times, with my number two at 159. By far the majority of my photos has sold less than 10 times.

Is it still possible to join StockFresh?  All I get is a "Your application is waiting to be reviewed" - that has been the position for more than 8 months!

Someone downloaded my photos from the free section and sold it elsewhere. So now I deactivate those old files.

19
I have a good acceptance rate at Zoonar, above 90%, and sales were acceptable untill my last payout more than 6 months ago. Since then I've had only one sale.

I've had four sales since September (much to my surprise)!

General Stock Discussion / Re: October earnings
« on: November 02, 2011, 11:32 »
I feel a little bad reading this tread. This October has been my worst month ever with SS and DT, with the exception of my first two months at DT. The only site that didn't show a plunge is Depositphotos.

22
I don't sent batches to DT anymore, one photo at a time. It works.

23
The SS rule is that if you resubmit, you must bring it to the reviewer's attention. However I have resubmitted on a number of occasions without such a note. I only do it when I'm convinced that the reviewer was wrong, and with few exceptions the files were accepted on resubmission. Last week I submitted a photo that was admitted by iStock and Dreamstime, but rejected by SS for "out of focus". I rechecked and focus is spot on, so I plan to resubmit that photo sometime in future. Ive never received a warning.

24
i use a spreadsheet, agencies in columns, filenames in rows.  At each crossing, I I paint the cell green in approved, yellow when waiting review, red when rejected, no color when not submitted. Also write number of sales,  add a comment for ELs. Columns are thin to make cells square. Different subjects go in different tabs.

I do more or less the same, just that I don't keep track of sales on my spreadsheet. To make it easier to mark the correct column when I upload, I make the different columns different colours (I submit to 12 agencies). I mark the cells "p" for pending, "1" for accepted "x" for rejected and "r" when I want to resubmit a rejected photo.
