General - Stock Video / Re: Footage sales?« on: October 04, 2015, 17:22 »video sales fluctuate a lot, however 1 sale a month off 500 clips would suggest you are shooting the wrong subject matter or else other people are offering better clips on the same subject matter Good points. Although some of my footages were from the lattest GoPro, most were shot with quality DSLRs. 103
General - Stock Video / Re: Footage sales?« on: October 04, 2015, 17:21 »That doesnt explain the lack of sales on SS where all clips are priced the same. Yes, most of my footages were added this year. I have added about 400 in the last 9-10 months. 104

Given what I read from another thread, I realize that my prices may not be competitive enough. But I am not going to compete with people who sell for $5 or $10. I'd rather focus on unique contents. 105
General - Stock Video / Footage sales?« on: October 04, 2015, 10:31 »
My photo sales have shown an uptick trend since September, but not videos.
I have about over 500 clips in P5 and SS, but only sell about 1 clip per month. Used to sell a lot more. Is it just me or normal? 106

I would reduce the size and upload to YouTube or Vimeo, and view from there.

New CEO may bring some changes. It can be good or bad. I am not very hopeful because Klein is still her boss.
Let's hope she will not harm our earnings even more by increasing short term profit for her boss. In the long run, it will not do Getty much good either as it has been proven. 109

I thought SS would send payment if the earning is over $35. But the money is still there. How come?

Photo Critique / Re: what do you think of this photo?« on: September 06, 2015, 14:34 »
Micsmt, don't worry too much about what other people think, just continue to do what you think it's right. Eventually you will find your own path.
Your photos are not that bad, you've got the idea. You will have to refine your execution in lighting, composition and post processing. You cannot please everyone, if you can please yourself and more and more buyers, you are successful. Yesterday's masters may not produce masterpieces today. Today's newbies may become a master one day, that's a fact. We all had snapshots, that's a part of the learning process. Keep at it. Best of luck! 111
Alamy.com / Re: Alamy- Any success??« on: August 27, 2015, 21:02 »
You are certainly more productive than I am with both agencies. I imagine your success with Alamy can also be a result of your geological location as a part of UK.
I have more images on iStock (3857 vs 2808 on Alamy), and have been with iS for longer. The files are different, and all RM on Alamy, obviously, so it's not a direct comparison. 112
Alamy.com / Re: Alamy- Any success??« on: August 27, 2015, 13:24 »
I agree Alamy sales are picking up, but still far behind IS. But I have a lot more images on IS.
I wonder if you have more images on IS or Alamy. For a while, I was doing better with editorial pics sold on iStock, and indeed what little I'm still selling there as credit sales is predominatly editorial images uploaded in 2011 (not since!). 113
Print on Demand Forum / Re: Zazzle W8 BEN, please, please help« on: August 26, 2015, 08:57 »
Agree, Zazzle W8 BEN is a total mess. I have sent forms to other companies such as IS and SS, there have never been a problem. But Zazzle was finding problems again and again. I almost give up.

Print on Demand Forum / Re: Why FAA print price is different from my markup?« on: August 11, 2015, 23:21 »
They started as a promising fine art site, now they try very hard to become a Walmart by selling all kinds of rubbishes. Ironically my sales are way down comparing to last year, and I rarely see sales of phone cases, bags, etc.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: What is happening to iStock?« on: August 01, 2015, 18:48 »
The whole point is, I have figured out that I cannot control what others do. All I can do is to do what I can control.
Trying to work like a slave for iStock, or Alamy or SS, will work for a while only. 118
iStockPhoto.com / Re: What is happening to iStock?« on: August 01, 2015, 18:19 »
I am sharing your pain. If we don't take control of our sales, agencies, be it iStock or SS, will not hesitate to devalue our work as long as they have unlimited supply of images.
Exclusive contents is only valuable when an agency is selling them as such. My sales are so bad these days that I don't even look at the numbers anymore. I am not going to leave IS for SS either. However, I am not uploading any unique images to IS anymore. 119
General - Stock Video / Re: How is sales from Go Pro ?« on: July 25, 2015, 14:13 »Aren't most of these gopro videos full of logos and trademarks, as it's mostly sports people wearing and using branded equipment ( surfboards, bikes, etc. ) or people just doing things with stuff all around? Even with IP contents, they can still be sold as editorial. 120
Print on Demand Forum / Re: Are 5% Commissions the Future of the Print-On-Demand Industry?« on: July 24, 2015, 21:50 »
Don't know if it is just me, but whenever a site announce they have new partners and new revenue sources, my sales tend to drop.
FAA did well for me last year, but this year my sales are declining. People used to buy the biggest size a lot, now they only buy medium sizes. 121

Alamy said I can make 20+ claims.
Does this figure only apply to sales in certain years? I have never claimed it before. Can retroactive claims be made? 124
