Agree. P5 is very slow these days, the sales are not great and review takes a long time.

Say, if your footage are for the coming Christmas season, when is the best time to upload them to the agencies?
If your footages are for summer pursuits, when will the buyers most likely to search for them? Thanks for enlightening! 129

Alamy money used to be in Paypal in 6-8 days. Now it's takes two weeks. There is no saint.

That they can use your images for promotional purposes without crediting you or paying you royalties? I was browsing some books in a bookstore a couple of days ago and saw only istock was credited and not contributors. I would not have minded promotional uses but we are increasingly not credited in any use. 135
iStockPhoto.com / Re: iStock zero respect policy for the photographers« on: May 27, 2015, 07:41 »
It has been increasingly common that only istock was credited and not contributors. If we don't do anything about it, our "assets" will depreciate even more as the time goes.
It's long overdue that we set up a trust fund to defend our intellectual property rights to fight any abuse from any agencies. 136

Just want to give a bit more info.
My port has also increased about 10% in the past year. Perhaps it should not be considered as an increase. 142
iStockPhoto.com / Re: Huge April slump« on: April 29, 2015, 10:21 »
I don't have anything to brag about, my sales hasn't broken any records, but I haven't seen any slumps this year.
My last quarter of 2014 was horrible, a historic low. However, since Feb, the revenue has been on a slow climb, I have seen small increases in combined revenue every month. About 60% were credit sales. I saw a 10% revenue increase comparing to the first three months of 2014. Among my last 20 sales, 6 were from 2014. 143

That's about right, I cannot get anything even below 1G.
However, occasionally I was able too. I have never used SS forum. I'd rather be working instead of venting. Very frustrating. 145

iStockPhoto.com / Re: iStock | 15 Year Anniversary« on: April 23, 2015, 15:57 »
Well, I would not go as far as to say that I have nothing positive to say about Getty/IS. At least for me, the sales seem to have been stable after January 2015. I almost feel the worst is over. After all, comparing to Alamy, GI provides me with a monthly income (used to be weekly). That being said, I still feel disappointed because I don't see much growth.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: iStock | 15 Year Anniversary« on: April 22, 2015, 22:41 »
Tickstock, you are right, it will likely be hard to replace our exclusive income if we drop our status today.
However, please keep in mind that Getty has consistently been shifting our sales to GI, PP and Subs in order to pay us 20%, instead of the level we earned at iStock. That is why a lot of people in the higher earning percentages are seeing big deduction of income. If Getty is taking real pride of having exclusive contributors, I would like to see it acting with transparency and decency. So you think I should stop supporting iStock? That's your decision. I'm just saying what is going to happen when people continue the way they have been. |
