Pond5 / Re: How has Pond5 been in 2021?
« on: May 17, 2021, 02:12 »
I don't know about the exclusive outcome but I can say, according to my past experience, 2-3 video sales on pond5 equals to 100 image sales or 8-12 videos on shutterstock. So it most likely is worth it. I have a general tendency to not attached to an agency nowadays.

52

What was the subject matter for the video? Did it have people in it?

I assume when you say a good moment, do you mean a video with people with a natural feeling and not something setup or acted out for stock?

I've tried uploading some video shot on my iphone 10 but it keeps getting rejected by istock. It's just nature and scenics, maybe it's not the best fit for mobile video.

It was water flooding on stairs of metro. I could not plan it, so I just shoot it and istock accepted/sold.

Ohhh right that does sound unique and I guess you weren't carrying a DSLR. Thanks!

To be honest. Now I do nowadays carry DSLR with me all the time just in case 🤓

The ticket is replied by Depositphotos, and it is very very interesting.

Here it is:

Quote
"Hello,

Following up our chat, please be informed that YAYImages is a photo-stock (similar to ours) and our API partner. All the files that are uploaded to YAYI image are uploaded to our photo-stock too. As an author, you receive royalties for each of your files that we sell. These royalties are paid on behalf of YAYImages. We may take down your files per your request, however, it will affect your overall sales & royalties.

Have you already checked our updated FAQ? In addition to Live chat caring team, we have empowered our customers with a self-service knowledge base, so check it out at https://depositphotos.com/faq.html

Feel free to contact us 24/7 if you have any further questions or require any assistance.

Kind regards"
Here's my answer:

"Hi,

I am not sure if you are serious or making jokes about this. We are saying that they are thieves you suggest to delete 1-2 photos. Do you really continue to do this? And do you really have such ethics? If so I am really ashamed to be your contributor so far and will give up.

As to Yayimages, I think the only solution is legal actions against them and you, otherwise apparently you won't care.

Best wishes"

56
Still I am as non-exclusive, and thinking about being exclusive in a specific agency, approach to be exclusive with suspicion and limiting myself in an agency. Referring to your "stay exclusive" suggestion.  :-\

57
$33 last year with around 2000 photos on port

compared to me, as 0$, it's fortune :)

Do you have a higher image uploading limit? Mine is 50 even if I applied and wrote them a couple of times. I guess I will drop it completely after a while

58
I haven't given up from Pixta but it is the only stock company I have never seen any interaction on my products. What is your experience with them?

59
oregon buying IS soon, stay exclusive, you wont regret. oregon and ss rock!

Hmm, interesting, any concrete proof other than a claim?  ::)

Yaymicro / Re: Yaymicro - Legal solution ideas

This is the email I sent to them (to Depositphotos), should make them move in the right direction (delete that portfolio):
Quote
No they are not I sent you 2 reference images. There are THOUSANDS of my images there. There are also many other contributors who reports the same thing in a forum. You should close this portfolio altogether. The Yayimages agency also reports that this portfolio is no theirs, so this is clearly stolen work that no contributors are getting paid for.

You do not seem to take this seriously. I do. It seems you are looking to protect the thieves AND let them have our money, for years! I give 7 days to REMOVE the Yayimages thief portfolio before I engage legal actions. I also request that you return the earnings that have been stolen to the right contributors. I have reports of other contributors also contacting you about their stolen work, and you seem to be hand in hand with the thief by protecting them. If so then you will face the same legal actions.

Shutterstock would have done legal action AGAISNT the thief, Adobe Stock, iStock all other agencies also.

Do you really want me to send a list of at least 20 000 of my stolen images in this email Its pretty easy. Click my images in their portfolio, then my image is in the Similar Royalty-free vectors section Here we go:

- https://depositphotos.com/344546324/stock-illustration-macon-heart-georgia-georgia-1890s.html (my image is here: https://depositphotos.com/6751266/stock-illustration-macon-or-heart-of-georgia.html )
- https://depositphotos.com/344542590/stock-illustration-manx-vintage-engraving-old-engraved.html (my image is here: https://depositphotos.com/6723024/stock-illustration-manx-vintage-engraving.html )
- https://depositphotos.com/344545616/stock-illustration-green-tailed-jacamar-galbula-galbula.html (my image is here: https://depositphotos.com/6748106/stock-illustration-green-tailed-jacamar-or-galbula.html )
- https://depositphotos.com/344547068/stock-illustration-garden-sorrel-rumex-acetosa-common.html (my image is here: https://depositphotos.com/6755814/stock-illustration-garden-sorrel-or-rumex-acetosa.html)
- https://depositphotos.com/344546392/stock-illustration-purple-mangosteen-garcinia-mangostana-mangosteen.html (my image is here: https://depositphotos.com/6751888/stock-illustration-purple-mangosteen-or-garcinia-mangostana.html )
- https://depositphotos.com/344541792/stock-illustration-banyan-ficus-benghalensis-vintage-engraving.html (my image is here: https://depositphotos.com/6717070/stock-illustration-banyan-or-ficus-benghalensis-vintage.html )
- https://depositphotos.com/344542902/stock-illustration-coconut-coconut-palm-cocos-nucifera.html (my image is here: https://depositphotos.com/6726212/stock-illustration-coconut-or-coconut-palm-or.html )

And the list goes on and on. Same with my color vectors:
-   https://depositphotos.com/347650818/stock-illustration-man-pain-tibia-vector-illustration.html (my image is here: https://depositphotos.com/16907979/stock-illustration-man-in-pain-illustration.html )
-   https://depositphotos.com/347654230/stock-illustration-mine-worker-using-chisel-hammer.html (my image is here: https://depositphotos.com/16202051/stock-illustration-mine-worker-illustration.html )
And thousand more there also!

If you want me to send the exact list of all my stolen images I can ask a programmer to scrape your site and send you the list of all the COPY/DUPLICATE files with the same title/filename but since you have millions the scrape will work long. I will charge you 500$USD for this work to be done, plus my time to work on protecting my images when that is supposed to be the agencies work.

Waiting for a serious response this time.

Your e-mail is spectacular Morphart. I mean you explained everything with all following-actions as if you explain to a kid :) I hope they take this seriously after this pressure. And really funny that they only delete the individual images after being asked. What kind of logic is this doh!

Dreamstime.com / Re: Mass download - is this legit?
« on: May 12, 2021, 13:22 »
After 2020, I think many companies have offered such "unlimited" packages for customers, that might be it. Of course contributors will get a huge zero in return. That would be my guess for your case.

62
They apparently haven't sent this e-mail to everyone, but only a couple best sellers. What do you think of it?

"Were reaching out to let you know about an important new addition to our customer video offerings, confidentially and ahead of the rest of the contributor community.

Video is growing. More customers are licensing footage and those that do are using more of it. Demand for video content is high and it is growing but theres still more opportunity.

Many of our customers tell us that they are not yet using video, even though they would like to and want to license footage, alongside images, vectors and illustrations in one simple plan.

To meet this opportunity, were launching new iStock Premium + Video subscriptions, offering our customers access to all the visual content they need, including video, in a single subscription.

What does this mean for you?

Were confident that this will unlock video for many more customers, increasing the footage being licensed, and ultimately driving more video revenue and royalties. To reflect the inclusion of video, Premium + Video has our highest subscription price per file, which is the same across all file types. Were expecting to see customer download growth to offset the lower price per file when compared to credit based video licensing. Premium + Video will roll out in a phased approach, with the first countries beginning in May.

For more information, please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions below.

This is part of our broader investment in video this year which includes: increased investment in digital marketing for video, SEO tactics to drive more customers to your great content, and increased prominence of video on our websites.

A special invitation

As a key video contributor, we want to relay our confidence in continued video growth and we want that to translate to your continued investment and 4K contributions. To do this, we are offering a minimum guarantee on your video royalties from all sites and offerings for a period of time, provided continued acceptance levels meet or exceed historic levels.

Specifically, for the 12 months starting June 2021, if your video royalty earnings are less than for the previous 12 months, we will make up the difference. So, for example, if you earned $100,000 in royalties in from June 1 2020 to May 31 2021 but $95,000 from June 1 2021 to May 31 2022, we will pay out the $5,000 difference.

It is important for you to know that this minimum guarantee offer is not being made to all contributors. It is being offered to you as a specially selected contributor who has significant video earnings, so we need to remind you that this letter, all of the details about the new subscription and the minimum guarantee offer is subject to the confidentiality sections in your Getty Images Artist Supply Agreement.

Within the next day, you will receive an email from DocuSign, inviting you to carefully read and sign the minimum guarantee agreement. The email will be sent from Getty Images via DocuSign with a subject line of Please DocuSign: Getty Images Minimum Guarantee Agreement.

We hope you feel comfortable taking advantage of this opportunity, in which case please sign as soon as possible and no later than Friday 28 May.

We look forward to answering any questions you may have.

Sincerely,

How is the Premium + Video subscription priced for the customer?

The Premium + Video subscriptions will be priced at approximately 1.5 to 2X the cost of the Image-only subscriptions. We will be testing in various markets with our initial launch in order to identify the optimal price. Our aim is to price these plans in a way that drives increased video downloads and grows revenue and royalties.

What asset volumes / packages are available within Premium + Video?

There will be a variety of Premium + Video subscription packages when they launch, starting from 10 downloads per month.

How is the price per file calculated?

In accordance with the Rate Card for iStock.com subscriptions, the price per file is determined at the end of each subscription month (which is specific to each subscription and may not be the end of the calendar month) by dividing the monthly price for that subscription by the number of downloads against that subscription.

What is the minimum pay-out guaranteed for Essentials and Signature files respectively?

The minimum customer price per file will be the same as it is today for subscriptions as outlined in the Rate Card. This will apply for all file type downloads in the new Premium + Video Subscription.

How will the average Premium + Video subscription royalty compare with the average video Premium Access royalty?

The new Premium + Video subscription packages will be more comparable to iStock Image Subscription packages but with expected higher average royalties earned, given the higher price point of the Premium + Video packages.

What do you expect the most popular Video + Premium package to be?

Based on our Image subscriptions, we expect the 10 downloads per month, monthly subscriptions to be the most popular. For many customers, this gives them enough content to manage their needs in a flexible way.

What impact will Premium + Video have on video credit sales?

Some customers who buy video using credits may switch to subscription packages, but many of our customers actually prefer to license content via credits because that method better suits their specific needs. We think subscription plans offer increased opportunity especially from:

Customers who are not currently licensing video at all

Customers who are licensing video but currently from another source

Increasing the amount of video content being licensed from our existing video buyers

As with all subscriptions, the intent is to drive much higher volume of downloading and licensing, in exchange for customers moving into more committed plans.

At least we have now something. Little but a step. Keep us updated please 🙂

64
I use after effects to adjust and color grade f-log and it turns out perfectly good.

f-log you really meant? by fujifilm. I am also using it but 640 iso later causes noise grain problems, how do you solve it?  ::)

65
Thanks. Looking forward to seeing it

Deposit sent a generic email response saying they opened a ticket. Thats all so far. I gave them the image # for sale on Adobe so they can check. I told them they needed to boot yaymicro for copyright violations.

Likewise. But for now we could only do this I think, at least keeping pressure might be a fast-solution in the short term. Let's see what will happen after a while.

OMG I found one of my best selling images there, and I was on neither deposit or yay. They have stolen my image!

Deposit was shady from day one. Apparently still are.

I am royally pi$$ed. No wonder I dont make any money. Scumbags. Now I have to go see if there are any more. 🤬🤬🤬😡😡😡

I have contacted both yay and deposit.

oh, your case is even worse. Sorry. Let us know please if they get back to you. Yay most likely won't care but at least deposit might hear another problematic case by yay.

New in Xpiks blog: review of Shutterstock Custom https://xpiksapp.com/blog/shutterstock-custom-review/

We look into pros and cons of the system and discuss if it can be useful for contributors

Hi,

After the recent sftp update by Adobe, Xpiks won't allow or blocked by Adobe. Do we have a solution for it? :)

Yaymicro / Re: Yaymicro - Legal solution ideas

I sugged that anyone who see their images on the Yayimages account on Depositphotos contact their support with subject IMAGE STOLEN! and show a few example of your image and the duplicate image in the Yay account. The more support request they receive, the more pressure they will have.

This is reasonable. The more the people. I will dig my images and inform them.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Review times
« on: May 10, 2021, 11:43 »
Depends.

Different times for different companies.

Getty/istock might take 1.5 months for images with release. My last batch was evaluated after 2 months, and the previous one only a little shorter.

Others:
shutter - 1-2 days
adobe - 1 week
deposit - 2-4 days
dreamstime - 1-2 day
age - 1 week
pond5 - 1 week

video evaluations can be a little longer of course.
p.s. products of exclusive members most likely takes less time

73
Hi guys,

I wonder how you organize your footage submissions. As I started recently, I record with f-log but the result is not well as ı expected. But without light equipment, outside shootings is not good enough so again, no good final result. Editing process is painful. How do you proceed if you don't mind.

74
I could start writing in a pompous way, instead I choose to just report the facts.
I wrote to Yay via my Gmail to their official email, yet they never responded.
Ok, I then used the form at their webpage and they finally responded.
I am not disclosing the details, I am just summarizing the correspondence in my own words.
I wanted to know why they are rejecting all my latest editorial photos (about 100 latest) one after another for: mark/unmark editorial.
They responded at first, I might have too many similar pics and should upload my best ones.
I dont know about best ones; I know that I was the only one to offer them local editorials.
I asked again what is wrong, how do they want me to upload, what is the mistake also asking they should give me an example based on my rejected uploaded ones about how I should upload the pics.
Is it my titling or they just do not want any more pics form me?
It would be much simpler if they told me so.
My earnings there are not enough to make me have second thoughts about it.
I still fail to understand why they have still not responded.
I am still trying to be positive and think they are busy and neglected it.
If I were not positive and polite, I could easily think that things are different.
Lets imagine what would happen in daily life, where someone might react quite different.
If someone in daily life spits in your face, unless he is holding a gun or is a criminal, you jump back to engage!
Do you thing Yay is telling something in my face I still choose not to accept?

Hmm. Interesting to see you still consume your time and energy for them. Good luck with that.

Yaymicro / Re: Yaymicro - Legal solution ideas
« on: May 09, 2021, 15:00 »
They need to just delete the whole portfolio. It is clear that it is being run by someone without any permission or connection to the copyright holders of the images. YAY say they have no connection to the acount anymore!!

Hmm. I am not sure. 2.5 million is a huge number, they most likely won't want to since they accept whatever you submit because the company wants to increase the quantity of products on website and this will continue for a long time I believe. Only a legal trouble makes them think I guess, how and when, no idea.
